  1. Six makes a good point. Just like you prefer not to use fast travel systems, but admit if it weren't for the mod that takes it out then you'd probably use it. I'm sure I'd get used to having regenerating health, and sure it's pretty convenient, but I'd rather perform a healing spell several times, and sure - it does pretty much the same thing, and it's kinda silly the idea of just casting the same spell ten times in a row, but like the 'taxi' fast travel in Morrowind it somehow manages not to break the immersion as much for me. Oh, also if regen health means red/blood-splashed low health screen, then that is a big annoyance.
  2. Well yeh I don't know where this information came from so I've no idea about the ins and outs of the mechanics. But even if the waiting around thing doesn't factor into it, I still think it's a horrible, lazy, uncreative solution to a problem which I never even saw as a problem in Oblivion. Apart from anything I remember my character sucking at magic, I could hardly spam heal spells because I could only do about 3 in a row.
  3. I just think there are better ways to solve the spell spamming problem then make health regenerate - which just seems to me to completely go against RPG gameplay. They could alter how much magicka health spells require, or make magicka regenerate slower. The best option I can think of off the top of my head would be to allow you to hold down the spell button, rather than 'Minor Healing Spell' x 10 - just have 'Heal', hold the spell until you have healed as much as you want, or run out of magicka, higher skill levels increase the heal rate or decrease the rate that magicka is used up. Even just have healing spells heal you fully outside of combat. You mention spamming healing spells as being boring. It's much more boring to stand around waiting for health to regen. With healing spells you can affect how quickly you heal by giving yourself a higher skill level and using things like potions to increase magicka - with regenerating health you're stuck waiting for it to regen (obviously you're not going to want to waste healing potions or magicka that you may need in a combat situation), if you're faced with a room full of enemies and low health, you're forced to just stand around until it regenerates. how is that not boring?
  4. Well yes actually, it is worse. Apart form anything, at least the spamming heal spell makes sense contextually.
  5. I've just got an image in my head of a Warioware-esque version of the climactic scissors scene.
  6. Personally I think a sequel to Nuts and Bolts which also expanded greatly on the platforming found in that game would be great. Some game globes could be platforming only and you'd collect vehicle parts or something, then you'd use the parts collected doing the platforming to complete vehicular based levels, maybe the odd couple could be both a bit like the hub was in the first game. Fans of both the original games and Nuts and Bolts would be happy and the profits would be miniscule. Everyone wins...oh wait.
  7. Apparently the developer went under so yeh. That would have been one weird game.
  8. I very much doubt my laptop will be able to run Skyrim, so I'm probably going to be stuck with the unmodded 360 version. D:
  9. Well I enjoyed it too, so at the least you're only the joint-biggest freak. The movie is so well shot, and the acting so good, that the gratuity of it becomes acceptable - although still disturbing and uncomfortable, which is the point. I suppose you could ask the question, is it more disturbing to watch a film like Saw for pleasure and for laughs or to make a film with intentionally disturbing imagery that clearly has something to say (even if I still haven't worked out what exactly)? As for the misogyny, the film is clearly aware of it's misogynistic elements - she writes a thesis on misogyny and gendercide - so I don't think it's as simple as saying the film is misogynistic just because it explores the subject.
  10. That Pokemon mod has the potential to be amazing. Then again Pokemon has the potential to be an amazing 3D RPG. Are you listening Nintendo, damn you?
  11. Ah I see. Yeh I'm not all that well versed on Whovian lore, wasn't sure if I was missing something from tat episode/series or what. Thanks for clearing it up.
  12. Or how about this, any comment that gets a downvote/has negative rep should be marked with a star to deem it Kotaku-worthy.
  13. Brilliant, I'd say, although he does have the benefit of a brilliant supporting cast and having Moffat at the helm. The Matt Smith tenure is great anyway, so go ahead and look forward to watching it.
  14. Movies like The Fall make me wish I had a Hi Def TV. My laptop even has the damn blu ray player. Actually we're getting one for our house at uni, may hi-jack my parents Lovefilm account every once in a while and get them to send me shiny blu rays. As for the last good movie I saw, I just watched Raising Arizona. Despite my mum's scathing criticism ('What a crap film') I enjoyed it. The Coen's at their oddest, the film drags on a little at times but it's well shot and at times hilarious, despite the fact I was the only person in the room enjoying it.
  15. Yeh I can't imagine them being too bothered about playing fast and loose with canon, especially if it means keeping such a good character in. Which reminds me:
  16. Well talk about spoilers. What confuses me is how River will still be in the series when she already stated their time-lines go in the opposite direction, so we should only see Mel (and pre-Mel Melody) from this point on if we're still following the Doctor, right? Unless we skip ahead til after she said that and she meets him after that point. Hmm. The actress who plays Mel didn't seem that great, so I hope she's not going to replace Alex Kingston from this point on.
  17. Wooooooo. Well there were some really good moments Still definitely more enjoyable that not, but not as good a opener as the start of this series.
  18. I got that Dean, and when I actually think about it, the fact you said 'I also had to rewind a bit' implies you did in fact rewind and means there was no point in me checking to make sure you had rewound and now knew what was going on. Let's get back on track, I'm not too worried about the basic game play (even if Ezio is a bit silly overpowered for an old geezer, I'm not exactly looking for realism here), I just worry they'll try and make the game too bombastic (bombastic - seewhatididthere?) - we've already seen Ezio's 'burn the entire harbour' approach to a quick getaway, and now he's being blown up in a carriage, falling into a canyon, surviving the unsurvivable impact, then climbing up and out seconds later. I get the feeling 'cinematic' was thrown around a lot during development, where cinematic means more explosions, bigger explosions and more explosions. I'm fine with bombs being in the game, I'm fine with them being a huge part of the game, I just don't want each mission to be trying to trump the last one in terms of spectacle, I'd much rather stick to the classic AC formula of effortlessly stylish speed stealth.
  19. From the video: In other words, a sequel then? But good work on spotting that there is no number 2 in the title.
  20. No, true, although there's no reason why he couldn't, I mean those moments are hardly adhering to realism, in the first game I always thought of the conversations as possibly imaginary, an externalisation of Altair's struggle to understand and justify his actions. Doesn't work so well with ACII, where they cut out a lot of the conversations anyway, in fact it's kinda stupid how some targets have a cutscene just to show Ezio saying 'Requiescat in pace', talk about pointless, plus kinda cruel to all the guards Ezio massacres without a second thought. But you do realise in the second part of that video it's Altair, not Ezio, and the conversation is taking place before the events of the first game (when Altair first becomes a master assassin in fact)?
  21. When has a target's death ever stopped Altair or Ezio from having lengthy philosophical discussions with them?
  22. No but I'm hungry for it. Pretty NSFW The person below me is new here.
  23. Did you watch the whole video? He heals at a doctor's table (don't need the doctor any more apparently) and is right as rain - not even an indication that he's old, which is kinda disappointing actually, I wouldn't have minded having to lean on gadgets a bit more and not being so physical. Perhaps the getting injured beyond a certain point and losing your free-running abilities until you heal will be a permanent feature throughout the game, that could be kinda cool, you'll have have to make the decision whether to stand and fight and risk losing your chance of escape. Of course with the amount of health potions Ezio tends to carry around, and his (apparently undiminished) combat skills, it still looks like we're a long way away from getting a 'hard' AC game. (That's not an complaint).
  24. ATTENTION NEW MEME. I KNOW YOU ARE DEAD BUT PLEASE ALLOW ME TO FLOG YOU A LITTLE WHILE LONGER SO AS NOT TO FEEL LEFT OUT.
