Right now I'm at the final chapter in Trails of Cold Steel. So far it's been pretty fun and also super ~*~*~ANIME~*~*~. And the levels of Guide Damn It have been tolerable. (Still need a guide, though). I did spoil a lot for myself by looking through the artbook that came with the Lionheart edition despite the spoiler warnings they put in there.

I really hope they've managed to move on from 802.11b to g or n for their wireless standard. Although Nintendo's wireless b fetish doesn't really matter since you should be able to use wired connection (hopefully without an accessory sold separately). I'm sure they have reasons. I guess it keeps the pricepoint down? I know I seem to always bring this up and its because I have Nam flashbacks of doing the home networking support equivalent to a hostage negotiation because a customer doesn't understand that they have to choose between getting their Wii wirelessly connected vs. everything else. Kinda weak-sauce Internet of Things shit.

After playing the original P4 a bit I found myself pining for the quality-of-life improvements they made in Golden. That timed button press shuffle time can go bugger off

During my first run, I only manage to miss one or two FUCKING THING ON ONE FUCKING CHAPTER AND IT WAS THE ONLY CHAPTER THAT GOT LAZY ON THE SAVES.

I never felt the need to be unusually thorough in the game. The combat is easy so I don't need extra loot, and the world didn't inspire a thirst for extra lore. SO much already.

@FLD: That's how I do with every RPG. I usually have 1 save that I save at whatever the last milestone I'm sure is "safe" (for instance right after each full moon in P3P), and then have like 10-15 more that I just rotate through.

I should give the first one another shot. I found the tutorial (i.e. some boxes of text or whatev) kinda off-putting and I was feelin' some of the same funk with the tutorials in Endless Legend :C

(lol at flower petal of censorship) This has been pretty fun so far. Pretty sure this was by the director who did at least one of the Etrian Odyssey. Oh and if you haven't guessed it's super ~*~ANIME~*~.

@TheFlyingGerbil: I guess you could Revelations as a full game? Or at least DLC for a third path. The first like five or six chapters start out the same on every version before it splits.

Finally finished off Fire Emblem Fates Conquest. Not sure if I'll ever play Revelations. Played it on casual so I wouldn't lose units to bullshit and lack of foresight. I feel like when they decided to omit grinding they didn't completely adapt the rest of the game to it (i.e. getting those points to upgrade stuff) unlike Birthright which makes the grindy DLC more appealing. Still a pretty fun, challenging game. I literally just bought a copy of this :^)

I think I would have a better grasp on playing as sniper grandma if: A) I could aim for shit B) someone else hadn't picked her Her heal denial is a big deal, I think. And I'm not 100% certain but it might lock Zarya out of using her shields, too. Whether that's an oversight, intentional, or even a thing I don't know.

I'm assuming you'll have the option for full control in P5 like in P4? I remember Mitsuru in P3 liked to use Marin Karin instead of healing etc.

Plugging away at Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth Remix trying to figure out the coinfeigm system with little to no solid documentation on how to get the better coins. Also perpetually feeling like I've botched the requirements for secret character X who appears at random in the recruit screen after the conditions are met (you can recruit the tutorial girl just by having all your party lvl 15+ and find her randomly). Very grindy. Lots of Guide Damn It. I still enjoy the character development aspect of these types of games. though.

Loaded up on (flawed) strategy jrpgs for the DS: Hoshigami: Ruining Blue Earth Remix Luminous Arc Luminous Arc 2 (EU version, sans audio CD ;_; ) Hot damn is Hoshigami a clunky mess. So far my experience with it has been going into the tower thats there at the start, having my units hit each other for better exp gain, and then steamrolling lvl 7s as lvl 20s. The game has a rep for being stupidly hard like its PS1 counterpart but I guess I haven't hit the difficulty spike yet since I've been grinding. Attack sessions are a pain to set up and can be interrupted. I've heard they fixed a lot of issues in the the spiritual successor Stella Deus.
