  1. Same! "He robs from the rich and he, gives to the poor..." The series is so amazing, but contrary to loads of people on here I really didn't like Serenity that much. I just mistyped it Serentitty. I basically thought the series was well paced, emotional, had a brilliant visual tone, and had interesting stories; but I thought the film was a little too tight, the deaths of characters felt needless and "just for the drama" to me*, the style of it was faaar cleaner and bluer than the series (all the homely colours and grit was gone from the backgrounds and tones) and while the story was better than a lot of films, I felt they closed off to many of the nice loose ends** and tore apart a lot of what made the series loveable. I stil thought it was better than most movies out at the time, and in general, but I disregard the film whereas the series is in my top #3 favourites of all time. *On the deaths of characters: **On the reapers:
  2. God I need to pick this game up soon. Also, I'm sure you complimented on me also, but nice gifpic! Introduced another pair of friends to the show last night.
  3. Yeah, but you don't have to marry her - just date her for a while, get your fill, and move on to the next luscious lady - money well spent in the meantime, IMO. Damn straight Brain. Enjoy it while it lasts, have a few good rides- at least a good few months worth. Who knows, maybe a year or two down the line you'll meet her again and have a good time all over again. She doesn't mind. She's all fun, this one. Plus you can have a go on her with other people too... Wait. This is getting sordid.
  4. I've now got my own headset, too, Brain! No more flatmate borrowing! But no Killzone 3, still till next week at the earliest.
  5. I've been reading you guys' posts here, and I'd like to ask how you all did the final boss?
  6. That's nice. And it's totally free?! (Can't see any prices on the site)
  7. On the console DRM issue, Dead Space 2 has an interesting 'Online Pass' scheme for owners of the game. I suppose this is more directed towards pre-owned purchases, rather than piracy, but still. You need a Pass to use the online features (DLC, Multiplayer), and if you buy a fresh copy of the game you get a code for a Pass inside it- if you buy a second hand copy of the game you need to buy an Online Pass (about £1 I think) as the one that came with the game has been used. It's hardly original, and it seems totally fair enough, especially considering it's not active DRM, and if you pirated the game you would still have to pay that £1 if you wanted to play online at all.
  8. Noooooooooooooo. The only spelling mistakes I can never get rid of are mid-word i/a/e vowels. Definitely/ definately, reperable/ reparable. There are other ones, too. Get me every time.
  9. My bad, someone else I'm thinking of with a short name that begins with S. Whyyyyyyy you've got such perfect prose otherwise, why tear down the whole integrity of it with such an easily reperable mistake! Should have, or should've: "should of" barely exists and doesn't make sense. You can't put a preposition after a modal auxiliary! It's like saying "You should to learnt by now."
  10. Mate, my Dreamcast fucking died! Don't rub it in! I tried it years after I had last put it away, and I'm pretty sure the laser reader is out of action. I'm still desperate to replay Shenmue 1 and 2, and Jet Set Radio. On-topic: 1 PS3, 80GB edition, pissed off about missing the 60GBs while they were around, I would have killed (and still would kill) for PS2 BC, and it runs smooth as a baird. Crashes once a month or so, but aside from that, all dandy. Great machine. I'm also on my 5th or so Xbox 360. After having mine broken for about 6 months, early last year, I finally got it fixed in time for Alan Wake and Red Dead Redemption, both titles I had been waiting about 4 years, give or take, each for. Guess what happened on the first night I got Alan Wake? RRoD. You have no idea how much I raged. (Thankfully the legendary guy at the computer store gave me a new, spare 360 Arcade they had downstairs for the price of fixing my old console the very next week. It's the Jasper motherboard version, so it totally chilling and I've never had any problems with it since.)
  11. @Malicious: Yeah in KZ2 there's a massive sense of momentum to your movements, so your character starts turning pretty damn slowly and swings into faster turning- couple this with really tactile camera movement and gun swinging- and the control style can be pretty jarring to people who are used to 1:1 movement accuracy games like Modern Warfare and all PC games. Once you got used to the swing and momentum though, it was great, and you really felt like a realistically heavy guy carrying lots of firepower. Fitted with the plodding pace of the game too, shooting Helghast was incredibly heavy and gory and chunky. So good. In KZ3 they really, really sped it up, but it's still not quite as rapid as MW, etc.. I think also the game mechanics and style of the game overall really make it stand out, and make up for any speed normalization they added for new players. I love the ability to toggle crouch now, so taking cover in singleplayer actually feels like it's useful! Holding down a trigger for it never quite felt right to me; one thing too many to think about in a firefight. EDIT: @Brain: I'll be getting my copy, at the very earliest, next Monday. Probably later, with two essays for the next Monday after that. Christ I'm stressed.
  12. Don't worry. We all know what you're thinking. (What would've been best is to actually not say anything ) Fixed. Especially when dealing with someone who doesn't speak English natively, correct grammar is pretty essential, Dean!
  13. That's fair enough, I saw your post but felt extremely inclined that you could do Echoes in co-op- mostly because I would be amazed that they showed it off in the end-of-demo trailer, but actually remove it right after. Which they did. So I'm amazed.
  14. I remember finding that out and being totally stunned. He does the English accent perfectly. This a guy who can do a space pilot in a Space Western's accent perfectly, too... Not to mention a pirate, in Dodgeball.
  15. I'm positive it's got co-op on the "Echoes": the chopped-up bits of SP campaign that are mini-levels; the only thing featured in the demo. In the video at the end of the demo it showed this. And I'm pretty sure in the "Echoes" menu or whatever in the demo there was an option for it. So there's no co-op on the start-to-finish Singleplayer campaign, but there is on the individual levels. I'm so certain it said this in the demo and elsewhere.
  16. On the topic of Fish and Chips- I'm currently holding a 'Sausage Supper', "supper" being a chippy suffix meaning "with chips". Battered fried long sausage, with chunkified chips, and a shit-ton of good Scottish brown sauce (like HP brown sauce but waterier and with vinegar) and salt. I had a shit shift at work, and I need a treat. Pretty nom.
  17. Moist definitely, though unfortunately due to time/money constraints I may not be able to play/buy the game for a week or two. I'll let you know WHAT HAPPEN.
  18. Anyone want to game RIGHT. NOW?!
  19. Haha no worries man. I've actually been wanting to change my name for years, but I use it on so many sites/games/services that it'd be insane amounts of bother to change it, and old online friends would have no idea who I am.
  20. Just tried the singleplayer demo last night, and it instantly sold me the game. I love how it often feels like proper Aliens-style Marine combat, more than anything else I've played (most notably the bit when everyone lands from the intruders into the big open battlefield at the end of the demo. I've managed to keep 4-5 marines alive to the end of that fight).
  21. Heyyyy, I didn't say anything like that. I: a.) don't have you on Steam chat, b.) have never spoken to you about Heavy Rain, and c.) don't think the facial animation in the trailer is good at all. Pre-rendered, too, natch. One time I did tell you how I think the facial animation in L.A. Noire is amazing though, even though the models and textures suck pretty bad. I thought this trailer was extremely well edited and conceptualised. It's blatantly not indicative of the game itself- however as someone stated on Kotaku I believe, the fact that Techland are taking this emotional approach to the situation is indicative of them and what kind of experience they could pull off if they applied this stylistic quality to the game as a whole. We'll have to see how it goes. Dead State sounds awesome. I'm playing through Dead Rising 2 right now, too, it's totally sweet. EDIT: From that Demonoid preview: "Imagine Borderlands set on the Just Cause 2 island with the Left 4 Dead style of zombies, featuring a quest system similar to Fallout 3 and the weapons system of Dead Rising 2. " Doesn't sound at all emotional. Oh well, it does actually sound good. Apparently it's going for Braindead zombies- you can cut all their limbs off and they'll still lie there flopping about screaming at you.
  22. I don't think so, (imho, not slagging or anything) but all Brit Pop bands sound like the Beatles (and their contemporaries), not the other way round. The Beatles were simply a great rock band who happened to be from Britain, revolutionised popular music and invented the majority of the tropes in popular music today- almost all of their influences were from America, so 'Brit' wasn't even 'Brit' in their music. It was into the 80s and 90s when wannabe bands came about, the Beatles/T-Rex/etc. inspired generation, made it a bit more laddish and a bit less musically quality, and started calling it 'Brit Pop'. Totally biased view from a massive Beatles fan, and I've never start-to-finish listened to a proper Brit Pop album so it's not exactly fair. But that's the way I see it. As far as I'm concerned the world would be better place without Oasis, who are a brutally flawed imitation of Beatles music and soul. None of the soul and most of the popularity. Music rant over!
  23. Bro, I did exactly the same thing, but with an essay due. It was Tuesday night, essay due Thursday, I knew I wouldnt get any work done on the Wednesday if I didn't have Dead Space 2 finished and out of mind- so I stayed up until literally 0600 Wednesday morning just doing Dead Space 2 to the end. Got the essay done to great success. I loved it. It's very different from the first game, it puts a bit more emphasis on the characters and plot, rather than the original's focus on general atmosphere and background. But I thought the second was more replayable and entertaining as a 'game', where the first was best as an 'experience'. Enjoy Shadow of the Colossus? So refreshing to see someone just discovering it! Is Majin good? I might order it in on my Lovefilm. Little Big Planet 2 also, worth a get? I've got the first one, and I like it but couldn't get into it much. I feel I'd get much more into the second one, and it's game dev tools as well. I love some of the features like circuit boards. TL;DR: My list is Enslaved: Odyssey to the West. (Very good, but nowhere near perfection) Dead Space 2. (Great, really awesome and entertaining) I've played so many games but not been able to reach the end of any...
  24. The sex machine was this guy. I'm hoping it works this time, worked fine for me last night linked to my Dropbox. How do we use the Smoovesonian for uploading pics? I couldn't find the upload option anywhere.
  25. I've heard this before and said the exact thing to my girlfriend, but doesn't it sound a lot like this to you: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gbJabs1FP2E Mostly just the backing music, the vocal melody isn't too similar- but the melody in that Ocean Colour Scene song is ridiculously Beatlesey as it is. I'm sure there's another Beatles song that's even more similar but I can't find it. Every time I hear the song you posted I think it's the Beatles, then realise it's like a knock-off ('bootleg'?) Beatles song. It doesn't quite have their flair. Still, I do like Ocean Colour Scene.
