What reward is to be gained from minimizing the risk by crossing at traffic lights instead of making a "risk" and dashing across the road in front of a bus? Private roads in the UK are generally residential. They're pretty much just fancy drive ways. My grandma has about 40 yards or so of "private road" leading up to hers and her neighbours house. It's not really what I was talking about when I said leaving it up to private entities. I'm talking something like a hundred mile stretch of the A1 being built and owned by Walter Thompson or something. I don't think I've ever personally made any particular opinion for or against the founding fathers btw. I think at most I've highlighted the suggestion the US constitution be rewrote frequently. As far as "sad sack" stories go and people making the wrong choices you know stuff like kidney failure, old age, cancer, etc aren't "choices" right? These are things that happen and people have pretty much zero control over it. If folks did have the choice them I'm sure they'd choose not to get ill. Heck just because people have a job and paid their school fees themselves doesn't mean they're immune to becoming ill either and they're just as likely to get fucked over by the system too. If not more so since depending on the severity of their illness they'll likely be laid off from that job they worked hard at school to be qualified for and many hours working up promotions only to be put back to square one again. Those student loan debts wouldn't be so high if there was government control and regulation on the fees, but hey; free market is awesome right? @Sprok: 47% unemployment rate? When devs got access to achievements and metrics that showed only something like 30% of people actually finish games (if that). Bulletstorm did have a sucky ending because it was made to be a trilogy or whatever, which means it doesn't end properly which I think is a shame. Especially considering the unstable industry atm. Is it only Republic City they're targeting? I'd imagine there's more to it than that, there's plenty other places where things aren't quite equal. There's Ba Sing-Se for one, and while Republic City has gone from nothing Ba Sing-Se was huge even at the time of Last Airbender so that's probably a pretty large spot now. Taking Republic City would be a symbol to the movement, it wouldn't be the be-all-end-all. As for the fighting thing as I mentioned to WaS in chat; Team Avatar had a fair few difficult run ins with the likes of Combustion Man and Azula & Co. And Azula & Co could chi block too which is what is fucking up folks in this series. They also had the mechanic tell them the weak spots on the tanks (since he designed them) so could specifically target them from above and with water bending. They were also designed to be bender on bender(and non-benders I guess), whereas the new tech is specifically designed to take out benders. About the only time Aang became unstoppably powerful(minus the lightening attack) was in the Avatar State, which Korra has yet to show off. The rest of the time they were about on par with the current lot. A lot of their fights were against simple soldiers or rebels like Jet and his gang. Team Avatar also got owned pretty quickly by the Dai Li a few times too. edit: So we were chatting in steam (new viewers, nice to geek out) and a thought crossed my mind: What about reverse energy bending? Surely if an Avatar can take away, they can give too. I imagine that something will come about through Korras spirit world meetings with Aang on that topic. Maybe instead of the equalist plan of taking away everyones bending, Korra could do the reverse, give non-benders bending powers.

They've made it pretty clear that's the look they're going for, moving on from Aero.

I think it would retroactively detract from the end of Last Airbender if they were to have Aang kill at any point. Especially given the end had him specifically hunting down ways to defeat Ozai without killing him, and thus settling upon Energy Bending. You'd have to have one hell of a good reasoning for his stance to be changed.

Well you can theme Windows and no doubt Stardock and co will capitalises on that. And it's aero in dev and consumer preview so it might still be there behind the scenes. They left the classic look in too alongside Aero. But yeah it looks a bit pants in the actual Windows environment.

See I'd have thought a 4X speed server would work better. Still enough to time to really get the most out of the day n night (unlike the 10/20 minutes cycle in Minecraft) but fast enough that it doesn't lean to everyone leaving to other servers to avoid the night time. Especially given jumping across the ocean will lead to increased ping which isn't best for everyone.

Why the hell do you carry on repeating this whole "and the costs go up" bull shit when we've already shown that the US costs are astronomically high compared to socialised medicine and those charts only show stuff like Medicare not the health insurance costs too. The demand doesn't sky rocket either, it's not like going to universal health care means that there's suddenly a doubling of the population and everyone gets cancer and broken bores 20% more often than before. What does change is the supply as I've already stated, in which case it's all supplied by a single entity: the government. And in a monopsony the buyer dictates the costs and thus has the power to keep them down.

Also as for the closing remark I thought we'd already covered that ours was cheaper, we have options, and your'e gonna have to throw out something to back up the better care(though off the bat I know US is 38th in life expectancy with UK in 20th). What solution would you suggest given that it's rather clear from your mini-essay that the capitalist driven health insurance system in the US isn't really working. It's supply and demand, and the demand is for health care, and my god is that a huge demand (being a human right n all) so of course folks can charge what they want. It seems a bit like the rental issue over here. If you can pay it yourself, then fine. But if not then the gov't will cover you for housing benefit(in this analogy, Medicare), so landlords push the price up and up n up. But that's not really possible with the NHS since it's all owned and ran and funded by the gov't. Unlike a private hospital, insurance firm, doctors etc the NHS isn't really going to be charging itself anymore than required. Which in turn reduces the overall cost for everyone (as you saw with the NHS costing half the GDP as medicare & co does for the US)

Why are roads not best left to private entities? (Same with keeping the peace)
