  1. Reading Snuff by Pratchett. Set in the countryside (Well the Discworld version) so there's some appeal there for me. They've expanded Willikins and Vimes' relationship quite a bit in this one too. I'd recommend you read Thud beforehand because there's quite a bit leaning on it in Snuff (namely certain tattoos). The writing is as top notch as normal, though I wouldn't say it's my top Watch one. (I'm quite a fan of Nightwatch, though Thud is a close contender. I think "Young Sam" has helped develop Vimes quite a lot in recent books) Oh whoever did the emboss design for the front cover chose odd options, the chickens are embossed. Here's hoping that book 40 is "Raising Taxes" though I think I've heard inklings it's something else. btw anyone read any of the Tiffany books, I've not touched any of them, mainly cos I'm not a huge Witches fan.
  2. In better news my gran spent an hour with me last night on Google Maps/Streetview scouring out her holiday in Croatia, her brother-in-laws home in Spain and her own village. "Ooh I shoudln't get myself one of these, I'd be addicted"

  5. Turns out Xmas didn't go off without a hitch. Mum n I were up early, and she told me that if my brother continues on as he was yesterday she'll deck him. Seems he got pretty bad last night too while I was watching Dr Who.

  6. I got New Vegas which is a bit of a bugger. A double bugger in fact. (first is cos I own it)
  7. Thanks to Santa Goh who picked me up Company of Heroes, Bulletstorm, Fable 3, Saints Row 3, and Episodes of Liberty City. Hope Excel_Excel is enjoying his gift from me.
  8. Well I've spent half this year unemployed so I guess it sucks in that aspect, but at least the games have been good to while away that time. You guys are all great, and I hope you all remain great for next year.
  9. If I'm doing back-ups I tend to forgo Windows and just go with Linux LiveCD instead (it bypasses/ignores more basic windows encryption too). As for the problem at hand: not a clue, though I think I've solved a similar issue back in uni days. Well I say solved, I think we ditched the HDD too. In fact if you can un-plug the HDD and run the PC fine with a LiveCD, then it's a HDD issue.

I think this speaks to what a stellar year 2011 was for games. I bought more new games this year than ever before. Good for me, bad for my wallet.

That's a bit unfair, fuchikoma. He could just be a retard who can't spell 'Martian'

  12. You got PvP on?
  13. She's looking down at the keyboard, she can see
  14. It is on a head. Phoebes head while playing Minecraft to be exact.
  15. Optifine wasn't vast improvements, but at least the netbook fps can hit double digit FPS now. With phoebes slow and meticulous method of playing it hasn't really bothered her. Setting them both up just meant not putting the password into one of the accounts and going "Play Offline". Bryoni wouldn't let us use her laptop, so ended up with me n niomi, then phoebe n niomi playing. It's kept them quiet. I'll throw up a video later, just I'm on netbook and it's not exactly good at dealing with HD video from my camcorder Since Phoebe (4 yrs) was on my netbook I have access to the screenshots so here are some of her adventures. I taught her "T is for Talk", since it seemed unfair for just Niomi to be able to type. tbh I thought she knew at least a few words. Turns out not. This is her cow friend. Since Niomi had a dozen dogs phoebe decided she'd have a cow. This is actually first chronologically. She dug right down and ended up in a lava pit. "DEEEAAAANNNN!!! I'M ON FIIIIRRRRREEE!!!" (Also she's currently going through withdrawal behind me. "I wanna play minecraffft ;_;"
  16. I mentioned this on Twitter yesterday, here it is in action: My Moist von Lipwig santa hat.
  17. Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows. Benedict Cumberbatch is still best one, but it was alright. The ending was pretty simplistic though, there's a scene near the end where you basically go "oh, that's how it'll work out". Oh for Moriarty I was kicking myself throughout cos I recognised the actor but couldn't place him. Mr Smith from Fringe, so he was pretty good for the part (Moriarty was where I disliked the TV Sherlock). Stephen Fry was quite fun. Stephen Fry was also mostly nekkid for part of it
  18. Amused the wee ones for a while. Thx
  19. If you write for PXOD could you head to Gdocs n do the vote sil-vous plais.

  20. I'm not sure $$$ was an original driving motivator. If you could throw in a fully working emulator onto the PS3 I think they've have taken the free(er) software route, than putting in an extra $30(and point of failure) worth of parts per console. When you sell a few million a year that's tens of millions down the drain. Don't forget, high end gaming PCs can struggle to emulate PS2, nevermind the relatively weak PS3. Porting and upgrading games isn't exactly free thing to do either, and a bit of a gamble since the popular games, are well popular. There's already millions of copies sold. Stuff like Team Ico I guess is a good one cos it's a cult hit, yet had a limited run on PS2. FFX is going to be interesting to see since it's like the 5th best selling PS2 game or something.
  21. In the spirit of the other thread, it's not just "ask"
