  1. Why do all mom in gamestop stories end this way? Because mom + video games = either buying shovelware or a game her kid shouldn't be playing anyways, I.E. buying GTA4 for a 12 year old. I remember going to Gamestop and asking if they had Ikaruga for Gamecube. The clerk looked at me funny. That made me sad.

I have the exact same keyboard! I just don't use the pink light. Usually blue, because it matches everything else. :B
  3. I loved God Hand just for how over-the-top it was. It wasn't trying to take itself seriously, and so it just kinda ran with things. I guess you could say No More Heroes is similar in that regard. Beyond Good and Evil is definitely one of the best examples of "Great Game, Commercial Flop".
  4. Surprised no one has mentioned this one. Paper Mario for the Wii. I absolutely adored Paper Mario on both N64 and Gamecube. I loved the turn-based combat and everything else about it. As soon as I heard that there was gonna be a new Paper Mario for the Wii, I got excited - my favorite turn-based RPG was gonna be back! I eventually got a copy, took it home, popped it in, and rushed head long into battle, waiting for that stage-esque combat screen I so loved. But there was nothing. I simply jumped on my enemy and he got hurt. I did it again and again and he eventually just died. There was no turn-based combat. It had been turned into some mess of real-time combat bullshit that had the Paper Mario name on it. I took the game back the next day. I'll just keep Paper Mario and the Thousand Year Door, thanks.
  5. I haven't been fortunate (or unfortunate) enough to encounter any of these in Dragon Age, but it's still hilarious. And this was so much better before he added the music to it. Still funny, though.
  6. Not at all. Poker Night has some shoddy AI at times (like opponents who go all-in when they basically have nothing at all for their hand, or they repeatedly fold over and over), but it more than makes up for it with dialogue. So many funny lines.
  7. You got lucky then. Noveria had quite a few bad ones, with some of the worst being related to elevators. You would use the elevator, you and your entire squad would step on-board, and... nothing. The doors wouldn't close. The elevator wouldn't move. You couldn't even open the game menu!
  8. Only reason the Wii sold like hot-cakes was motion control. It was novel, and basically anyone could do it. There weren't really any buttons to press. Sony and Microsoft caught up after a couple of years and went "HEY, THAT MOTION GAMING THING IS REALLY BIG" and finally came out with their own versions, right as the market begins to die down. Meanwhile, Nintendo gets ready to put out a glasses-free 3D handheld. What Nintendo lacks in game library size, they usually make up for with innovation. Well, except online gaming. Nintendo has derped pretty hard on that one.
  9. Infinite health and ammo. TRIGGERED EXPLOSIVES EVERYWHEEERRRREEEE.
  10. I highly doubt BioWare is gonna tack on a multiplayer component to ME3. It seems incredibly odd to add multiplayer content to the final part of a trilogy, when there wasn't any multiplayer at all beforehand. If anything, Dragon Age always struck me as a game better suited to have multiplayer. And BioWare, could we PLEASE have some additional options in ME3 if we start a Shepard from scratch without importing? Starting a fresh game in ME2 essentially made Shepard the biggest asshole in the galaxy - every event that happened was Renegade, save for the love interest. My thoughts on Mass Effect 2: Classes: BioWare did an excellent job making the majority of the classes fun and engaging to play (as they seemed to do with all combat). A few of the classes still lagged behind, though. Infiltrator, Soldier, and Vanguard proved to be incredibly fun to play, using a mixture of weapons and biotic/tech attacks to wittle things down. All the pure biotic and tech classes didn't seem quite the same, however. Many Adept players frequently complained about how weak their biotic abilities felt in comparison to other things, and Engineer gameplay was a snooze-fest, consisting of nothing but sending your drone out to wittle away at an enemy's health while your team mates (who were better equipped than you) did the same. Sentinel gameplay also felt quite weak - while you were nigh invincible thanks to Tech Armor, you didn't have much firepower either. Mining: The devs already addressed this and said mining won't be necessary to complete the game in ME3. Why wasn't this done earlier? Something is seriously wrong when an action that was originally optional becomes mandatory, just for the sake of finding enough minerals to complete ship upgrades. Vehicles: Though I do miss some of the lengthier vehicle sections from ME1, I sure as hell don't miss the Mako. The Hammerhead was an absolute dream to drive in comparison, and I hope it makes a return in ME3. Squad Mates: This is, quite possibly, my biggest complaint. Squad members were either horribly balanced or horribly written. You can admit otherwise all you want, but let's be honest here - some of the squad members were absolute trash and were never used at all. The most glaring example is Jacob, who is both horribly bad and horribly written. A bland story with no real addition to the plot at all, and he's basically replaced as soon as you get your first new squad member. It doesn't matter if you get Garrus, Mordin, Jack, or Grunt first (or even one of the DLC characters) - they're all better than Jacob. Everyone is better than Jacob. In comparison, you have Miranda (who can strip down every type of defense within the game AND passively boosts either squad health or squad weapon damage), Grunt (who makes for a stupidly good meat-shield due to his high health), and Zaeed (who has an outrageously high weapon damage modifier. The guy can seriously rip enemies to shreds, sometimes better than you can).
  11. I will say that Poker Night at the Inventory isn't anything special, as far as gameplay is concerned. The AI does very weird things, like go all in with only a pair of twos, or they'll repeatedly fold round after round. It's a fun game for only five bucks, though. The best part about the entire game is the dialogue. I've heard so many hilarious conversations out of it.
  12. Did anyone else find it odd that Luke (who is known to hate Telltale games, and I do mean hate) was chosen to review the new Back to the Future game from... wait for it, Telltale? As if you couldn't see it coming from a mile away, he gave it a scathing review. A guy who dislikes Telltale gives a bad review for a Telltale game? BWUH?
  13. Can't forget how bug-ridden Noveria was in Mass Effect (no pun intended), not to mention the fact that if you got ragdolled while fighting Benezia and got stuck in the floor, you were basically screwed. One of my more hilarious deaths in that game was when I got ragdolled, slipped under a guard rail, fell about two feet, and got the MISSION FAILURE screen.
  14. Yeah, that's kinda the entire point now. PS3 users will be able to play and chat with PC users, and PS3 users will also have their settings saved in Steam Cloud. Valve WANTS people to play Portal together, so they're just tossing in free PC copies if you get the PS3 version.
  15. Outstanding. Suddenly, I'm reminded of the all the weird and interesting Use-Map-Settings games in the first Starcraft, from all the turret defense games to the Resident Evil Raccoon City scenario. There's quite a few game types that got listed. They haven't been released yet, though. Left 2 Die - Basically a multiplayer version of the Outbreak mission from the campaign. Defend against zombies. Aiur Chef - Players run around the map and kill stuff to get ingredients for recipes. Certain recipes are worth more points, most points at the end of the round wins. DotA - Basically DotA, but with a Starcraft twist. I think Muradin has a mech suit, for example. Starjeweled - I forget the exact name of this one, but it's basically Starcraft + Bejeweled. Gem matches give you points, which you spend on units, which then fight the other guy's units until you win.
  16. Know who I really wanna see? Gene from God Hand. Man I loved that game. And yes, it is a Capcom game.
  17. Oghren was pretty hilarious as well. I really should have used him more than I did. He had some pretty funny dialogue if Morrigan was in the party AND you were romancing her.
  18. That was actually something I was going to mention. Sort of touching on this, I read that there was a growing number of children who couldn't read an analog clock (let alone one with Roman numerals, good grief) simply because of the large number of digital clocks on schools these days. Warning: Massive picture ahead.
  19. You could totally do the same in Dragon Age: Origins with Leliana and Isabella. Just... you know. Throwing that out there. Despite being slightly off-topic. Kinda.
  20. I killed Zevran every single playthrough, simply because I looked at it from a usefulness perspective. He's a melee rogue, and Leliana is practically set-up as a ranged rogue from the get-go. Thus, Zevran dies. My party comp ALWAYS had Wynne and Morrigan, though the third person varied depending on how I was feeling. It was typically Shale though, simply for the dialogue alone. God I love Shale.
  21. Speaking of Just Cause 2, that's the only one I've beaten in 2011 so far. I totally cheated and used a trainer, BUT I did the very same thing with the demo and had an absolute blast. It's one of those games where it's actually more fun when you're essentially a god and can do whatever you want. And if you're looking for a working trainer, I can point you in the right direction.
  22. I'm just glad that melee rogues look decent. I've only ever beaten DAO twice - once as a tank (shut up, I like tanking. Champion/Templar combo) and another as a melee rogue. Melee rogue was... not fun. I had to spend hundreds upon hundreds of gold, complete obscure quests just in order to get the necessary gear, and even then, I HAVE to stand behind stuff to do any decent damage. Rogues in DA2 actually look fun.
  23. I believe the devs have already said that they're going to cram more RPG elements into ME3. And the amount of variables known so far is simply staggering. Also, mining (like in ME2) won't be required to complete the game. I'm pretty sure everyone had to mine at some point just to finish ship upgrades.
  24. FYI, one of the new Starcraft 2 gametypes is DotA.
