I could very well be missing something here (which is why I'm asking), but what exactly did they do to deserve the medal?

It's a space adventure type game. You journey from planet to planet, upgrade your ship and battle other ships in a sort of rock paper scissors style of combat.

I don't think anything signaled end times for the company, but the Wii, WiiU and 3DS have certainly tempered any interest on my part. That isn't to say they don't have a profitable market. You're right about their success—arrogant or not, success is success. It's just that I'm having a hard time finding my place in it anymore. Only the 3DS can manage to remotely interest me with the things that matter, the things we should be buying consoles for: games.

It's all a damn shame because that controller is actually pretty neat.

The WiiU feels like this generation's Sega Saturn.

Forgot to mention the Atelier games. They have their fair share of strong and/or capable female leads. Not the slit-your-throat-and-fuck-your-wife types that some folk seem to be clamoring for, though. And with the exception of three games, all the main characters are female. In those three exceptions, you can be either.

Finished Jintai. Not bad all things considered. Didn't mention it earlier, but the third episode of season 2 of OreImo was much better than the second. Gave some backstory to a heretofore secondary character that had only been very lightly hinted at.

Well, both of those have quirky humor. That's the only reason I enjoyed them. I think slice of life shows like Hidamari Sketch and Yuru Yuri are awful.

I may give those a watch. Put them on my list. Though the style of the second's (Gargantia) male character reminds me of a shounen twat. I hope that isn't the case. Speaking of slice of life: you need to watch Nichijou if you haven't. Heck, how about all-boy casts? Cromartie High!

Up to episode 10 in Jintai. Still a decent watch. And episode 3 of Oreimo season 2.
