  1. While I do like Sony's current stance, I'm sure it has more to do with circumstance (Microsoft) than an aversion to duplicity or a creed of transparency.
  2. I don't get it. Though I do think the article topic ruined it: "Kitase interested in more Final Fantasy HD remasters".
  3. My condolences, Ethan.
  4. I think I'm slowly becoming Vash the Stampede.
  5. I feel like I've been spoiled by Tera and, most recently, Guild Wars 2. They've overturned a lot of (what used to be) basic MMORPG game design concepts. Don't know if I could handle going back.
  6. Hmm . . . I count 19 shortcuts on a modest keyboard and mouse. Anyway, is that "looking for new spots to level up in" basically just grinding?
  7. I've been in the last dungeon for well over a year. So yeah. Though it doesn't beat the eight years it took me to tramp through FFVII.
  8. I feel the same about XIII's combat. I also didn't like that the flow of any battle that took more than a few seconds was all-out attack, pull in for tanking and heals, all-out attack, pull in for tanking and heals, reapply buffs. The settings did look nice, but yeah, most weren't anything impressive. Though there was that frozen sea which was amazing. They all seemed fairly generic and lifeless otherwise. I wasn't really partial to any character, but I didn't mind Sazh and Vanille. Fang was okay at times. I'm actually in the last dungeon—well into it—and just don't feel like finishing the game.
  9. More Guild Wars 2: http://imgur.com/a/PGxJY And more Guild Wars 2: http://imgur.com/a/q9AVH
  10. It all seemed like fairly generic science fiction military stuff to me.
  11. Hope your lass gets well, Ethan. Mine was sneezing a lot last winter, so I was worried something was up; thankfully, the only IRL friend I have is a vet. There is nothing better than cats. Not even bigger cats. I've also noticed (long ago) that my lass has a pretty wide range of communication. Most notably and most often she uses a sort of trilling mumble-grunt (though she's also prone to the typical meow chatter). It's her sort of response to, well, most anything. Recorded it, but you'll have to turn your volume up pretty high to hear it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eOmrxl_iEaI
  12. The show came out and I still don't want to read the books.
  13. I'm three paragraphs in and all I can think is, "Oh, god. Someone shut this kid up."
  14. Totally. But it's still the same game.
  15. Maybe he likes games with promise.
  16. @A Link Between Worlds: I just wish Nintendo would sit down and make a new Zelda game while thinking, "What would make this a great Zelda game?" Instead, it seems they're thinking, "How can we shove as many of our hardware's unique 'features' into a game at once and maybe make it a Zelda game after that?" I think that was my biggest issue with the DS and Wii games, and that doesn't look to be changing with the 3DS title. @WWHD: Looks nice. But just another HD re-release.
  17. I think I'll give PS4 six months to a year to see what's going on. I'd rather have some games I genuinely want to play rather than games that I'm playing because that's all there is. That, and I'm not happy about the paid online. It may not be a big deal to people who use it often, but to those of us who don't, it's ($49.99/yr) no insignificant fee—more so when you're used to playing for free on PC and PS3. The thing about the 360 was that it might have seemed cheap, what with it's accessories sold separately (those that were eventually required for many common video game scenarios). And Live Gold was an example of one of those hidden fees. People often speak highly of PS+ because you get free games and discounts, but it's really only a deal in certain scenarios. And often, not one at all due to the high costs of digital games on PSN. Still, those deals are chiefly for people who buy a lot of games on PSN, because they're already spending money. But as far as digital pricing and sales go, PSN and PS+ are downright lousy. The free games are nice, yes, but I don't see myself paying money for games that I may or may not like (and that don't really belong to my account when I download them for free). Especially when I can get games I do want for the same price as signing up for the service. So yeah, additional fees. It turns a $400 console into a $450 console (or higher). So that's something I'm going to have to mull over. I can see the value in PS+ for others, but after giving it some thought, I can't say the same for myself.
  18. Why the face? The only reason KH3 was even announced was because FFv13 (now 15) is finally coming out so Nomura can start another project. More due to the "takes pages from", as I think the games are awful. I'll still keep an eye on FF15 regardless. I just hope it doesn't concentrate too much on theatrics; that would be my biggest worry.
  19. FFXV/VersusXIII looked nice until Malicious mentioned Kingdom Hearts. :<
  20. Or you don't want to pay a fee for games you don't care to play, and don't really own, and don't purchase games on PSN enough for the "deals" to matter.
