I just started Pokemon X today. I'm not very far yet but I can say that this is the first Pokemon game I've been able to genuinely have fun with in over a decade. I dabbled in a few of the others, but the bland battles and the snail-like pace always killed it for me. While the battle system is mostly the same in X as far as I can tell, having 3D visuals really helps to make it more interesting. More importantly, I really appreciate that X seems to be going out of its way to keep things moving at a brisk pace. Getting EXP for catching pokemon and sharing EXP with every pokemon in my party helps to cut down on a lot of tedious grinding, and the rollerblades are a nice touch too. I'm sure there are some "hardcorez" who are complaining that this "dumbs the game down" but RPGs have reached a point where if you're forced to grind for hours to get through the story (what little there is in a pokemon game), then the game is doing something wrong.
