  1. I'm wasn't one for remembering too many names/avatars on Kotaku, but I remember agreeing with the Moogle on many occasions. Nice to see you here dude.
  2. The last part I assume is something that some of us have problems with. Most of the time, if the discussion is reasonable and respectful, I genuinely try to listen to the other side. Most times, if being the jerkiness stays on a casual level, I try to shrug it off with humor. Bring out the high horse, though, and you'll find me eagerly awaiting the chance to see how much you react when I pull your chains. I do find myself reveling in fights with people with holier-than-thou attitudes. They rage on and on, and at the end they're all like "Well, I don't care anyways lol." Well, your 15 rage-filled comments beforehand sure proved you right! I like to see how long I can draw them out for before they realize that I'm just screwing with them on purpose. That was a poor choice of words on my part, I didn't so much mean when in an active disagreement, as much as managing to disagree with someone without insulting them. Like someone typing in response an opposing point of view without being a condescending prick about it. Frustration is only human, and it's easy to react as harshly as you feel on the internet, as there is nothing to stop or (in any meaningful way) punish you for it, so yeah, it's definitely hard to participate in a passionate debate without getting a at least a little bit snippy haha. Don't get me wrong, I love my roll in the virtual hay now and then as much as the next guy (and can't say it hasn't been thoroughly satisfying at times), and have participated in some of the most embarrassingly juvenile internet slapfights. Even when trying to be civil, it's easy to get roped into someone's nasty attitude, and there have been more than a few occasions where I was the first one to maybe speak more frankly than I needed to to convey my point. I don't know, I suppose I just have some imagined some kind of higher standard for this forum, and I the downvotes on the needlessly hostile posts seemed to indicate I wasn't alone in finding it inappropriate. For what it's worth Sens, while I disagree with your point of view in this particular case, I'm not going to badger you about it, and perhaps I could have made my point with less... passion, even if it was clear that the words were intended only as point makers. I just noticed gloves were coming off, and figured I'd throw my 2 cents in there, as the attitude was something that bugged me when I saw it in those quoted posts, other days, and once when I was a mild target of it. It seemed like people were getting insulted for being offended by being insulted, and it got to me.
  3. Yeah, there is something to that, and if we were posting on IGN I wouldn't bat an eyeleash. This doesn't come n hasn't ever come across as this type of place though, and it does bug me to see totally unprovoked rudeness like that, and the rationalization bothers me most. While I don't post on here all that much, I've seen enough to read plenty of his/her posts, and believe they're smarter than that. That type of rationale would have us all verbally brawling in here instead of engaging in meaningful or productive discussion. I don't believe it's very difficult in a forum like this one to treat people with some measure of respect, even in disagreement.
  4. You're calling people idiots, it's the kind of thing that is designed to offend people. Where do you draw the line? If I say that the dumbest thing that bitch you call a mother ever did was get knocked up and shoot you out of her filthy twat, does it not matter because it's on the internet? Even if you don't care, should everyone grow thicker skin to meet your standards, or does it seem more reasonable for you to just speak to people without insulting them? Just an alternative point of view to ponder.
  5. Wheeee! News of the game would've been enough for me, this is even better. From TFA: EA Games President Frank Gibeau has all but confirmed that we'll eventually see Mirror's Edge 2 running on Frostbite 2, telling Gametrailers that "you'll see that combination, I'm sure". "We haven't killed Mirror's Edge," continued Gibeau. We're actively looking at how to bring it back in the right way. We love that franchise. The DICE guys really created something I think special the first time around. You've got to have a big idea to be able to do the next one and that's what we're working on."
  6. Dead Nation Not bad, gonna go for the co-op next. I gave "grim" mode a shot and it was brutal, I can't imagine what "morbid" is like. I may have to let this plat go, we'll see.
  7. I was hoping there would be more PS3 content announced, but oh well. Vita seems awesome, and the price point was a pleasant (as well as expected) announcement, but I don't commute by bus/train often enough to use one of those, and I'd much rather play my home console at home. I always perk up at the news of cross-platform connectivity though, so Dust 514 has me intrigued, though I don't know much about it yet, or Eve Online for that matter. Decent press conference overall, not as exciting or fun as I had hoped.
  8. I don't know about this thing. I'm aware that there are possibilities for the NY Times sized controller that I probably haven't thought of, but I doubt they'd be game-changing enough for me personally, or not in the right way. I understand that unique hardware features have distinguished Nintendo consoles in the market in recent years, and made them a whole lot of money from selling lots of units, but I get the impression they feel obligated to include one (feature) at this point, whether or not one is really the best choice or even necessary. While the name of this system claims to represent the all-inclusive "this suits YOUR needs" experience that the console will deliver, the method of achieving that seems questionable to me right now. I know feelings are mixed when it comes to the 3D functionality on 3DS, but the impression I get is that most people would've preferred more muscle and capabilities for their money in its place. Same goes for this tablet controller. If that is supposed to be the sole distinguishing feature of Wii U, and hardware-wise it isn't significantly more powerful that the 360 & PS3, then I have zero interest. Well, not zero, but not enough interest to buy one. Sony & Microsoft will be releasing consoles within a couple of years after this one, and if they aren't so far gone by that point that MS's console is controlled by shouting at the screen with a mood ring on and Sony's is done via USB body suit, I'll wait for one of those.
  9. Yeah, read about that. The SNES one I mentioned it still up and awesome though, if anyone is in need of one. I'm not sure if this one is still around for the reasons given by the author (Robert Broglia), but it's there. That author also has GBC, Turbo Grafx, and NES emus up there as well, though I haven't had a chance to try any of them. They're well rated, but... Not free.
  10. Mortal Kombat: Challenge ladder and story mode Portal 2: co-op
  11. Very pretty. Makes me want to turn it into tacky multimedia wall art.
  12. I'm about to give up on journalists altogether and start consulting a crystal ball. "This just in, parents are being forced to talk to their children about life!" Oh my god... Are we stocked on canned goods? This could be it!!
  13. Or a rocket launcher for real humiliation. And heaven forbid there are ground turrets present, the skies aren't safe for low-flying warhawks.
  14. Yeah it was four hours. First and probably last trophy I can say I earned in my sleep =p I had a good time with Warhawk, and this looks better in every way possible. The inclusion of a 1P campaign is very welcome too, and looks pretty unique. This might even be a day-1 purchase for me.
  15. Fight Night: Champion - Champion mode That Isaac Frost fight is absolutely brutal... But oh what a feeling when I finally laid his ass out.
  16. That video has 508 likes, 17 dislikes, and 325 views O.o
  17. Awesome, thanks for the advice/heads-up. I think I'll snag it. Enough time has passed since my last Fallout3 play-through, I think I'm ready.
  18. Nier. Very cool. There were more than a couple of shortcomings, but not enough to stop me from hitting up a new game+ at some point in the near-future (see what I didn't do there?), maybe even go platinum chasing. I hear it's really time consuming though. Wow, this is only the second time I've posted here... It's May. I should be ashamed, considering how many games I've begun this year.
  19. Is there anyone here who has played the PS3 version and can tell me if this game has been patched to the point where I'm not going to have to obsessively save out of fear of a glitch setting me back several hours? I have a $5 gamefly coupon about to expire, and the pickins are currently pretty slim as far as games they're selling that I want to buy. I've heard so many horror stories about the glitches and freezes in here though.... Plus a lot of people don't really think it's much of an improvement over the last...
  20. Shazam! I'm sure everyone in here has it already, but you never know. If not though, today is the day to pick it up, as I doubt it'll be that price tomorrow. I'm glad I waited a little bit. Now to hurry up and borrow The Orange Box from my buddy so I can finally play the first one. .....I know... please try not to yell at me. *edit Mortal Kombat is $40 on Amazon today too.
  21. Yeah, that's what's making this decision annoying. I guess the thing is I'm not sure I want it yet. I think it's a cool device, I'm just not sure that the support will be there that will keep me (personally) spending enough time with it to justify the purchase. While I think it's a cool alternative to the controller in a lot of games, it's not one that I'd usually care to use when a DS3 can get the same job done for me. I think some pretty unique experiences can be delivered with it, but I'm not terribly confident that they will. I think I'm gonna wait it out and be more certain I'm going to use it, even at the discount it's still a lot to drop, especially since I'd probably want the nav controller once I tried using a DS3 with it. Maybe I'll get lucky and a Move + Nav bundle will release. Yeah... I think I'm gonna wait.
  22. Dam, I was contemplating using my coupon this weekend, but then I realized that that bundle doesn't include the nav controller. This really is an expensive upgrade isn't it... I think I may have to go into waiting again, both for more games as well as a bundle that suits my needs (nav + Move, since I already have the Eye).
  23. http://kotaku.com/#!5796902/there-are-22-million-psn-members-credit-card-details-up-for-sale Nice headline shithead.
  24. From the Playstation blog Clarifying a Few PSN Points + Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media I wanted to take this opportunity to clarify a point and answer one of the most frequently asked questions today. There’s a difference in timing between when we identified there was an intrusion and when we learned of consumers’ data being compromised. We learned there was an intrusion April 19th and subsequently shut the services down. We then brought in outside experts to help us learn how the intrusion occurred and to conduct an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the incident. It was necessary to conduct several days of forensic analysis, and it took our experts until yesterday to understand the scope of the breach. We then shared that information with our consumers and announced it publicly this afternoon. For those who were looking there’s also an FAQ with some more frequently asked questions Thank you for your continued patience and support. I was starting to reply with my own 2 cents of assessment of the situation, but noticed that post after wondering if I was talking on dated info and checking the blog. This is something along the lines of what I expected to be the case. Sony has nothing to gain by covering up the extent of a breach for an extra few days, and a lot of sympathy to lose. I think a lot of the reason you're finding people defending Sony though, is that lots of people are putting the blame for the whole fiasco squarely on their shoulders, and there is really very little info about the breach itself, let alone Sony's day-to-day handling of it. I'm annoyed by the situation, and if it's revealed that they were withholding information about the extent to which PSN users are/were exposed for the purpose of saving face for a few days, I'll be highly pissed, and certainly less inclined to use the PSN at all, let alone spend a dime on it. Right now though, there is no reason to believe that they're making matters worse through their actions, unintentionally or otherwise. Maybe I'll feel different when more news comes. Anyway, if people's obnoxious opinions were a factor I'd never have lasted long enough on Kotaku to become disenchanted with it later ^^. If you're gonna leave do it for the redesign maaaaan! ....totally joking btw.
