  1. I haven't finished Golden Abyss yet (though I'm getting very close) and I would also agree with that ranking, with U3 being more of a distant second in my case. GA obviously can't compare with the bigger console outings but it's surprisingly good for a portable entry into a series mostly famous for its story and production values. Back on topic: I did it! It took me like four fucking years but I finally beat Persona 3! I kind of figured i was 10 hours or so from the ending, at most. Turns out it was closer to 30, including a bit of grinding. And man, that final boss. Not insanely difficult but so fucking long. Took me four tries before I beat him, with attempt number 2 and 3 both lasting almost an hour and failing literally a few turns from victory. 2 was caused by a ill-timed status ailment but 3 was entirely my fault. Through inattention, I pretty much did the one thing I shouldn't have done and killed my main character which is instant game over. Not my proudest moment... That's only the original campaign, though. Haven't touched the extra "The Answer" chapter and don't think I will. At least not anytime soon. Now it's time for Persona 4!
  2. Hexcells and Hexcells Plus. It's kind of a cross between minesweeper and, uh... sudoku, I guess? Kind of. You're not actually placing numbers, it plays mostly identical to minesweeper. But the information given for you to deduce which hexes you can remove is a bit more complex. Anyway, I saw it featured on RPS a while back and thought it looked cool. Voted for it on Greenlight and promptly forgot about it. Then I saw it featured on RPS again last night since a standalone expansion just came out. I looked it up and it's still not greenlit but the page says the dev will provide Steams keys once it is, so I figured what the hell and grabbed the base game from the Humble Store. It's pretty fun but not very long. I blasted through the entire thing in only a couple hours. it's only 3$, though, so I have no complaint whatsoever there. The problem with the base game is it's kind of on the easy side. It gets pretty challenging near the end but by then you're pretty much already done with it. That's where Hexcells Plus comes in. It's also only 3$ but it's very much aimed at those who already beat the original. I'm only about 10 puzzles in and I'm already left staring blankly at the screen, trying to figure out what the next logical move is. If you like logic puzzles, I strongly recommend checking it out.
  3. Yeah, I remember the aiming in U3 being really shitty at launch. I used to pull off headshots effortlessly in U2 but once 3 came out it was like I'd never played the damn series before. Didn't play the game beyond my first playthrough, though, so I heard they released a patch but I have no idea if it improved things or not.
  4. For Vita. And technically PS3 as well, since it's cross-buy. That's cool, I guess. But if I ever felt like playing on a big screen with a controller then... I'd just fire up the Steam version. Anyway, I paid full price when it came out on PC so I was kind of hoping it would join the instant game collection and spare me the need to double dip. But it's on sale this week and the extra Plus discount brings the price down to steam sale levels, so I figured what the hell.
  5. Oh, really? I read somewhere that the true ending only unlocks once you've seen all the other ones. I guess maybe that was about the sequel. Now I'm kinda tempted to look for a spoiler-free guide to make sure I don't "accidentally" luck into the true ending until I've seen all the other ones...
  6. I guess I technically beat 999: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors last night. I mean, I god a bad ending, got stabbed and died but it ended. Now I gotta do it again five more times for the other (I'm assuming bad) endings before I can get the true ending. Which might sound annoying but the story is actually really good and intriguing and on subsequent runs the game remembers which path/decisions you took so you can just fast-forward through the story bits you've already seen and don't actually have to remember which choices you've already made.. This game was actually one of the main reasons I considered getting a 3DS instead of a Vita. I had heard very good things about it while I still owned a DS but I just never got around to grabbing it. The sequel, Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward, is on Vita but this one isn't and from what I heard you kinda need to play it to get the most out of VLR. So anyway, I decided fuck it and grabbed a DS emulator and the rom for it.
  7. Steam ID: FLD PSN ID: Toxicitizen Country: Glorious Canada What are your favorite genres: A little bit of everything, really. Main ones would be Stealth/Action, RPGs (J or W) and Strategy (turn-based being my favorite kind, especially when they overlap with RPGs) What are your favorite games: Deus Ex, XCOM, Thief, Metal Gear, Uncharted, Final Fantasy, Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles, Persona, etc... Like I said, varied. I keep my Steam wishlist pretty up to date and (mostly) in order of preference, so you don't have to look too hard. Looking at it right now, the games at the top are a bit pricey. It's not as bad as it looks since most of them have been pretty heavily discounted in the past, so they'll definitely get significant discounts once the sale starts. But still, I'll make sure to add a few more cheaper ones soon. Of course, if it turns out there's nothing on it that fits within your price range, then by all means get me whatever you think I might enjoy. Also, if for some reason Steam isn't ideal for you, I'd be totally cool with some PSN credit. Gotta get more games for that Vita!
  8. A Borderlands Telltale game? Uh.. no thanks.

The Borderlands games don't have great stories, but the lore is pretty cool. I'm sure Telltale will make something good out of it.

Yeah, it's not that I think it'll necessarily be bad. I just don't really care for Borderlands.

  9. Yeah, Seven is also on PSN. I've thought about getting it as well but, even though I'm aware that continuity is largely irrelevant for this series, I'd still prefer to play them in order. That means I'll have to buy Celceta first anyway, so there's no point in getting Seven now. Kinda bummed out that the PSP version of Ark of Napishtim isn't on PSN, though. Apparently it's not a very good port? Hopefully, now that Celceta is out they'll consider giving V and VI the Vita treatment as well.
  10. I'm a few hours into Ys I and I'm enjoying it a lot so I decided to grab this one while it's still on sale on PSN. This is an enhanced remake of Ys III, so once I'll have played through the three I have now I'll be all set to grab the new Vita one, which is kinda, sorta a remake of Ys IV.
  11. Yeah, I guess I just needed to use one for more than a few seconds. My only experiences with touch-controlled devices had been when listening to music on my friends' phones or iPods while drinking. I'd either keep accidentally clicking on random shit while trying to scroll or just completely fail at typing on the touch keyboard. My big thumbs still kinda struggle a bit at the latter but I think I'm slowly getting the hang of it.
  12. I just tie notes around rocks and throw 'em through windows. Far more personal. Also, maybe you're not a little girl, but it sounds to me like you got little girl hands.
  13. Finally got my Vita today. Haven't really started any proper games yet but I did play with it for most of the afternoon. Tried demos for Spelunky, Escape Plan and Tearaway. I really liked the last two and will definitely be picking them up at some point. As for Spelunky, I might actually double dip it as, much like Hotline Miami, having a portable version of it sounds kind of awesome. There's actually a few indie titles I'll probably be double dipping. Rogue Legacy and the Binding of Isaac remake are the big ones but I'm also thinking of getting Lone Survivor and maybe Stealth Inc. (Stealth Bastard was such a cooler title...). I thought Limbo was cross-buy but apparently the devs backed out of the program for some reason, so I can't get the Vita version now. That's a bummer but eh, fuck 'em. I'm not rebuying their game. So far, I'm really glad I picked it up. I'm not a huge fan of how the bubble interface looks but it works well enough so who cares. Also, having never owned a smartphone or any kind of touch-based device other than a DS, I thought the touch controls would take some getting used to but it actually feels pretty natural. My biggest issue so far is the back touch panel. I guess my hands are too big because I just can't comfortably hold the system without having most of my fingers all over it. Might have to invest in something like this I'm also definitely gonna have to get a new memory card asap. I only transferred three PSP games on it and it's already almost full. And I still need to somehow get Gravity Rush and Soul Sacrifice on there. 4GB is simply way too small. And speaking of which, holy shit is the memory card ridiculously tiny! It's like a third of the size of the PSP memory sticks. You could probably swallow it and not even realize it. I also expected the game cases to be much bigger, for some reason.
  14. On sale on PSN and the extra PS+ discount brings it just under 10$. I usually wouldn't even consider getting a retail release digitally on a console, but it looks like it's a greatest hits now and I just can't stand those fucking red boxes. Besides, 10 bucks is way too low for me to bother looking on ebay for a vanilla copy. Also PSN. I've been wanting to get into this series for a while and the new one for Vita's been getting some really good buzz, so I figured now was the right time and that this was the logical entry point. I was waiting until I knew for sure my Vita order had gone through but it was 50% off and I think the sale is ending today, so I grabbed it last night.
  15. FFS, EBGames. Will you ship my damn Vita already?! I'm getting kinda nervous here...

I just named the first two ridiculous 60's-type assumptions about what tech we'd have by now that popped into my head.

  16. You know, I wasn't sure about Tearaway but this trailer just sold me on it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eK93bHUhSoc Seriously, though. What the fuck is wrong with Japan?
  17. Wow, talk about no sense of boundaries. Might wanna throw away your toothbrush.
  18. I only have experience buying from US Amazon (from Canada) but if it works the same then yeah, you should be able to. The code would probably only work for someone in the UK, though.
  19. Yeah, the name alone made me doubt it was from here. The thing is, I haven't posted my ID anywhere else recently nor have I posted anywhere where my ID would've been shown. So I'm really not sure where it could be from. Haven't really played anything online in a while either, so I doubt it's someone random I played with. Guess I'll ask next time he/she is online.
  20. Is one of you guys NYCBRKLYNSITH? Got a friend request and no idea who the hell that is.
  21. Yeah, or knowing what your target already owns. It's not really an issue if we make a wishlist thread like last year, though.
  22. One thing worth noting here is that the new Amazon Playstation Store makes PSN gifting possible. Regional restrictions are easily circumvented and you get a code that you can just give to your target. The codes themselves might only work in NA, though.
  23. Yeah. Got an error when I tried from the store but it worked from account management in the XMB.
  24. Alright, so I got a year of PS Plus for 30$ off Amazon.com and, as a result, I have a bunch more stuff from the instant games collection. I'm not gonna post pics or even bother listing everything but here are the highlights: PS3: BIT.TRIP Runner 2 Galaga Legions DX Ibb & Obb Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Binary Domain Little Big Planet Karting Vita: Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD WipEout 2048 Gravity Rush Soul Sacrifice Hotline Miami Also, I figured I might as well grab Contrast and Resogun while I still can, so they'll be good to go once I get a PS4. Looks like I'll have to invest in a bigger Vita memory card sooner rather than later...
