  1. Yeah, I'm not interested in Halo enough to buy an Xbox for it but if they put the entire series on Steam then I'd definitely give it a shot. It would need to be the entire series, though. Like, I'm not jumping in if they randomly drop Halo 3 Anniversary out of nowhere. I don't even need multiplayer, just release the MCC single-player campaigns and charge a reasonable amount for it. But Halo Wars is certainly an encouraging start. It's the first proper console Halo game on Steam and it would be ridiculous if Halo Wars 2 doesn't eventually follow. It's also a low-key admission that Windows Store exclusivity just isn't financially viable even for their own first-party titles. I won't lie, I'm pretty happy about that. What I'm most curious about is whether it'll be UWP or Win32. If it's the latter, that's an even bigger deal.
  2. What in the holy name of shit?? I don't know if that makes me want to hurry up and play the other Neptunia games already or just delete them from my Steam account altogether. That shit is creepy as hell. @deanbmmv I guess it's possible but I would assume it's probably more like here where the creators would be the most well-known to fans and not the executives. This just reeks of an ego thing. Like Tenshi said, having Yoko Taro in the game would make slightly more sense than the CEO of the company. I'm a huge Platinum fan and I don't even recognize their CEO.
  3. Wasn't there also something like that in FFXV? What the fuck are they trying to accomplish here? Higher ups at Square-Enix see that people still love Iwata even after his death and they want in on it or something? I mean, I can accept a one-time thing as just being a joke but this is their second big release in a row to do something like this. It has to be an idea that's coming from the top and it's just fucking weird.
  4. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAH!
  5. Turns out Infinite Climax mode is actually easier than hard. Either that or I seriously leveled up during my hard playthrough, because every single chapter I expected to have trouble with was mostly fine. I did use the Evil Harvest Rosary since witch time was disabled anyway but I didn't find it incredibly useful. At least, not as useful as witch time. The only thing that really made me rage was doing all the Alfheim portals. Some of them are just fucking brutal, and I did them on normal. Pretty sure that's my first proper Platinum game fully completed, too. I mean, technically second but Nier: Automata doesn't count since it's not a "real" Platinum game. Anyway, I sure wish I had some way of playing Bayonetta 2 right about now. I know a PC port of that one is incredibly unlikely but damn it, buy it from Nintendo or something, Sega.
  6. Briefly turned on my PS3 to check on something and holy shit, the dualshock 3 felt gross in my hands. Like, legitimately uncomfortable and weird. How the hell did I ever play with that thing?!

    Steam Controller 4 life!

Saturnine, I don't think you're that gross. When we inevitably meet when we testify against Ethan in court, I'll shake your hand.

My hands are pretty dang clean when I use my controllers. Not a speck of Cheeto powder to be found! Look it up online, there's something about DS3 analog sticks absorbing skin oils and over time (usually a few months) it seeps back out.

      Unless ya'll are robots!

  7. Ah ok. Now that you mention it, I think it's not the first time we've had to re-add each other, actually. Anyway, that's Bayonetta hard mode done. Goddamn, what a rush. It's true what they say about Platinum's games. Normal really is just the tutorial. I don't know if I'm mentally prepared to tackle Infinite Climax mode just yet...
  8. Uh, that's a weird one, yeah. Hardly what I'd consider a serious issue, though. As for completion, all you need to worry about is finishing SC by May 3rd. Everything else is irrelevant! Holy shit, 47 hours just for ending A? I can't even imagine what the hell you've been doing all this time. My playtime isn't just for getting all the main endings (that happened around the 35h mark), it's for getting all the achievements. Also, weren't we friends on Steam before? I looked for you in my friends list but ended up having to find your profile through the most recent secret santa thread.
  9. Any unfinished side-quests will still be available on subsequent routes (as well as a few new ones). But more importantly, just ending A? Get out of this thread! You're not even remotely close to having beaten the game!!
  10. Pretty damn solid. Decent amount of graphical options, locked 60fps (except for pre-rendered cutscenes, which are 30fps) and arbitrary resolutions support. Apparently some AMD users are having performance issues but I haven't experienced anything like that on Nvidia.
  11. Bayonetta. Arguably still the best character action game ever made. Holy shit, is this game good! Harder than I remembered, too. Except for the boss fights, which is the complete opposite of what I remembered. I beat the final boss on like my second try last night and I'm pretty sure I had a lot of trouble with him years ago. Gonna jump right into hard mode and go for 100% achievements completion right away, I think. Right now I just want more. But man, replaying this has really made me want a new game in this style. Hopefully Kamiya can get to work on a multiplatform title now that ScaleBound has been shitcanned. If not, there's still hope that 2017 will be the year Capcom surprise us with a Devil May Cry 5 announcement, I suppose...
  12. This has pretty much become me and my buddy's official drinking anthem, we inevitably listen to it once we're a few beers in. It is so damn good.
  13. Did you If so, yeah, that's the "bad" ending. But from what I've heard it's not linked to collectibles or completion. It's a bit more... Dark Souls-y than that. When I get around to it, I'll probably just look up a guide, to be honest. Should probably do that soon, actually. I was in a rush to move on to Nier: Automata when I finished it but I have plenty of time now.
  14. I never doubted you, SEGA. Now please don't take another 2 fucking years for the next one. Which, btw, should totally be Vanquish!
  15. The Swapper. Didn't want to start anything too long in case Bayonetta shows up on Steam tomorrow, so I finally got around to playing this. Don't know what took me so long because it's right up my alley. Sci-fi puzzle game with creepy philosophical implications? Yes, please. It has a pretty unique visual style, too. All the assets were hand-made with clay before being digitized, which is kinda neat. For some reason, I always associated it with The Fall but they're not really all that similar except for their dark sci-fi themes. The Fall has more of an adventure game vibe to it while this is more of a straight forward "puzzle rooms" kinda deal. Anyway, yeah, fun game.
  16. Total War: Warhammer. I have united the Dwarfs and successfully repelled the Chaos invasion. The Old World is now safe. Until I go back and do a Greenskins campaign, that is. Then all will be crushed by the might of my WAAAGH! Needless to say, I really enjoyed this one. My only experience with Total War was a single Shogun 2 campaign like 5 years ago, so I was pretty much a complete noob going into this one. I've also been having trouble getting into 4X games lately, I tried both Endless Space and Civ: Beyond Earth last year and neither really clicked. I think I just don't have the patience anymore for the learning phase and botched starts that inevitably come with these games. I anticipated it this time, though, and made sure to watch some tutorials and let's plays beforehand. I also played on easy because I'm a terrible person. I'll bump it up to normal next time. Also, turns out the fantasy Warhammer setting is pretty damn cool. Not as cool as 40K but that's true of most things. But I'm actually really looking forward to the sequel/expansion now. I want me some of those Lizardmen and Skavens so bad. The downside to that is that, while I enjoyed the game mechanically, I have little interest in regular historical Total War now. I mean, Feudal Japan is cool but it just doesn't compare to rat people, dinosaur Aztecs and undead Egyptians. It's a shame about the DLC pricing, though. I'd like to grab most of it right away but it's so fucking expensive that I have to wait for a sale. Except for Chaos, totally buying Chaos ASAP.
  17. Oh, is it better than the first season? If so, I really need to get on that. First season was amazing.
  18. Trails of Cold Steel coming to PC, baby! We did it, Mal!

On an unrelated note, does anybody want to buy a barely used Vita???

Yeah, it's not entirely clear. Unless XSEED went on a hiring spree, they don't have the in-house programming staff for a port job. And Sara's already said she's not involved. Either that or they meant "without Falcom handling the dev side of things", which could just mean they outsourced it like LKS. Hopefully to a different team...

But you're right, this is most definitely in response to losing both Ys VIII and Tokyo Xanadu. It's clear that Falcom now demands or at least prioritizes a PC release. I'm really glad to see XSEED taking care of it themselves. It means that:

      1) They're probably not at risk of losing the Trails series

      2) Trails of Cold Steel III is incredibly likely to also get a PC release

    3. Mal

      Mal

While the porting team could've done better on LKS, the backend was kind of a mess per Durante. If they outsource ToCS then I wouldn't be surprised if XSEED hire Durante as a consultant again. The porting company got three games they can do. With Durante as consultant/QA, by ToCS III they should know the in and outs of the engine Falcom uses.

Then (or before) onward to Zero and Ao. Trails series will be complete and up to date. MADNESS.

Yeah but if Durante could get it into a much improved state all by himself then I dunno, seems like they might not have been the most qualified porting house to begin with. They were a Japanese team, so chances are they weren't entirely familiar with what is expected of a solid PC version. Combine that with all the stories you hear about Japanese industry folks being very unreceptive to advice and criticism from the West and you have a potential recipe for disaster.

But yeah, it's crazy to think that not only are Zero and Ao the only missing entries but now they'll also all be available on PC. Now we just need XSEED to make a Celceta port happen once they're done with Cold Steel 1 and 2.

  19. I wonder where it's going to fit, I'm a little confused by all the versions of GitS. There's a lot of overlap with TV story arcs being condensed into movies and movies being chopped up into episodes and whatnot. When you need to go on wikipedia to figure out what you should watch and what you should skip, you know there's a problem. It's basically the anime equivalent of a Ubisoft Collector's Edition... Anyway, re:Stand Alone Complex. I somehow only got around to watching the entire first season last Fall. For a show made 15 years ago, it holds up incredibly well visually. If I didn't know how old it actually is and you told me it was made 5 years ago I'd probably believe you. I was planning on watching 2nd GIG and Psycho-Pass after but ended up starting Code Geass instead. Then I lost interest like 5 episodes into that and haven't watched any anime since. It probably didn't help that I had just made myself suffer through 10 episodes of Durarara before finally giving up on it. I probably should've dropped it way earlier than that...
  20. The worst part about the Berserk CG is that from what I've seen they've actually fixed at least some of it for the bluray release. The hand drawn version looks so much better it's not even funny. I mean, fuck that shit, I'll resub to Crunchyroll but I'm torrenting that bluray version.
  21. So, I guess the second season of Berserk is starting tomorrow? I still haven't watched the first one... But between this, Attack on Titan season 2 FINALLY starting and Crunchyroll finally having My Hero Academia, the temptation to reactivate my premium sub is growing. Oh and while I'm here, any news about Vento Aureo? I need JoJo to be back in my life.
  22. They (Nordic) keep saying they want to make the third game but after the second one completely failed to follow up the first one's amazing cliffhanger, I sorta lost interest. Then THQ went under and Vigil Games shut down... I do plan on playing the remasters eventually since I got them for free and they're still good games but I'm not holding my breath for the continuation of the series. Especially since it seems I'm in the minority in not wanting a fucking 4-player coop game out of this series. Like, I can't imagine a worst possible scenario for an hypothetical Darksiders 3 or 4...
  23. @Mr. GOH! Act IV just came out last summer, I would expect Act V to release around 2020. It sucks beacuse I really want to play it (and already own it) but I still can't decide whether I want to wait for the final act or not. I'll have probably forgotten everything by the time it comes out, so... :/
  24. New video from Noclip, the guys that made that DOOM documentary a few months ago. This time it's about The Witness and Jon Blow. Spoiler warning, if you have any interest in playing The Witness and still haven't done so, the video talks about the one thing I'd say qualifies as a major spoiler. I'm not done watching it yet but it's pretty interesting so far. One of the core ideas in the game is something he actually came up with before even making Braid and it was in a bit of a different form, so it's pretty cool to get some insight into how it became the game we played last year.
  25. I think that qualifies as bullying. Also, I just reported your post.
