  1. I, like most of you, often find myself thinking about how cool it would be if there was a game that was x,y, or z. Frankly its part of our nature as gamers to find something we like and see it fully realized, and even more awesome when you start to develop ideas in your head that are probably not going to happen. So I decided it would be cool if we could have a safe environment to lay out game ideas that we think would be pretty neat, without any negative criticism. Lets be honest, we've all thought about writing that letter to your favorite game developer with a game idea. I'll start with one that I've wanted for so long now. Remember the only limitation is your imagination. Game type: Superhero Sandbox Description: A sandbox game where you create and play your own superhero, Something similar to Champions Online, DCUO or CoX, but instead of an online game it would be a single player game. The game would have character progression, non linear story telling and a huge urban city filled with petty crime, villains, random bank robberies, and huge events. There would be chapters where the city ends up in a huge crisis needing you to fix the issues similar to how Oblivion gates affected the world in ESIV. The world is an original world with a background of heroes and villains made up exclusively for this game with "comics" for you to pick up and discover the background on the many many characters that inhabit this world. The game would start out as you creating your character choosing powers, body type, gender and attitude (simple stuff like serious, strong, silly) and you are sent through a tutorial level in a lab where you gain your powers based off of the origin you choose in the creator. You are given a series of obvious moral choices, and depending on how you react to them will determine if you are a villain or a hero. This will create two separate stories: The villain role or the hero role. After you complete the mission either the established hero or villain will recruit you allowing you to make your costume. Thus your character now has an identity to show the world. After the first chapter you will be given another set of moral choices allowing you to become the anti-villain/anti-hero if you feel you want to be. You now have two more stories branching out giving a total of four different stories. This will allow you to have a second costume to show the world. If you are a villain you can do villainous deeds like rob banks, train heists and the like, and heroes will have side quests to stop similar deeds. I would love to see the minds of the people at Rockstar take on this project, they seem to make the best open world games, but I wouldn't mind seeing Sucker Punch or Naughty Dog take this project either. It would control like a third person action game. So now its your turn, go ahead tell me what you think of my idea or put your own game idea out there! This is all in good fun! **PS Sorry if this is in the wrong thread, I thought it would be OK in the general gaming forum**
  2. deanb, thanks for that answer! If you do decide to open a thread about game engines and how they work i would totally be interested in it!
  3. Just got AC:B yesterday for my birthday, so I was reading the back and I saw something that caught my eye. Its powered by the havok engine, which is a physics engine right? (correct me if I'm wrong) Not too surprising, Havok has been the main engine of use for most games on consoles this gen. But then I saw something different, it read "powered by Adobe Flash". Does that mean that the game's characters and cities and worlds are rendered in flash? Am I wrong on this? If it really is made with flash, then flash is one hell of a program! Any how, I'm going to plug AC:B in and give it a shot!
  4. Got my new laptop!! Woohoo!

  5. SOOO EXCITED! This is my favorite series!
  6. I'm waiting for this game to come out so Brotherhood goes cheap and I can buy Brotherhood like I did with AC2! Gaming on a budget is a calculated science!! Personally I'm OK with more Ezio, but again I haven't played Brotherhood yet, so that might be why. I don't want the franchise to go to 2012 yet, or a near future, because I think that this franchise could explore so much more. People are always speculating on different times that the series could go, Victorian England, Revolutionary France, Revolutionary America, Wild West America, Early 1900's Russia, Feudal Japan, Feudal China, and much more. I'm not ready for Assassins Creed to end. If they can keep each game feeling fresh then I welcome the franchise to go on.
  7. Community's Fistful of Paintballs= best TV episode ever!

Still really want to see this show- but I'm gonna guess this episode is a riff on Spaced's "the team goes paintballing" episode?

Not really, a spoof/parody of westerns. Very well done

Win! Spaced's was more cop/crime action parody, like later Hot Fuzz

  8. I read somewhere, and I can't find it anymore, that the settlement was given to Hotz on March 31st and agreed upon shortly afterwards. Meaning that the "attacks" from Anonymous had nothing to do with the decision because it was reached a week before hand. In fact, knowing how info can be leaked, I would not be surprised if Anonymous attacked knowing the settlement to make it seem like they had swayed Sony. Who know though, its all over now.
  9. Hopped back into Oblivion, enjoying my stay. Forgot how much fun this game could be.

I love how the guard can magically see the difference between a stolen fork and one I found in a dungeon, just because I got caught stealing a horse.

Well duh, it's got a little red hand next to it in his inventory. Plus it's clearly marked [stolen] in its ID tags. Psychic guards know EVERYTHING.

  10. Your right, I'm just used to how windows used to name their mobile operating system, "Windows Mobile", but as much as I enjoy being corrected on naming issues, I would like to keep this thread on topic. Which Windows Phone 7 games do you enojoy?
  11. So I just got a Samsung Focus with Windows Mobile 7 loaded up on it, and I was wondering if anybody else has one, their thoughts, and what games they think are bomb.com? Personally I love the Harvest, the Sims, and the magic marker game. As far as the operating system goes, I think its amazingly fast and once you get used to it totally easy to use. I decided against an Android phone because of my Zune HD which shares a similar layout, and made an easy layout, plus my zune pass transfers over.
  12. @Dean, well then it seems I might be s.o.l. Well when I get home from work today I'll try one more time, see what happens. hopefully it comes back on
  13. @ Dean, yea, I live in the southern part of Cali, I don't know of one house or apartment that has a radiator out here. As far as the computer goes, it was closed which puts it to sleep mode, I can't personally tell if that is "off" or not.
  14. @Deanb, I don't have a radiator, but I did blow dry it for about 20 minutes, and made sure everything was all dried out. I haven't tried it yet this morning, cause I had to go to work, but hopefully its fixable. I am thinking that maybe, some how, my processor got the boot, or maybe my motherboard got fried. Either way, I hope not.
  15. So yesterday I got a new phone (Samsung Focus) I was so excited I left the house to show my friends and played around with it for hours. By the time I got back home I find out that the pillow I left my laptop (Acer Aspire 6930) on was drenched in cat piss, and my computer lying on top of it. The actual computer did not get piss on it, but the piss from the pillow seeped out on to my computer. The cat piss was all on the external plastic on the outside, but it wont recognize that the power cable is plugged in and when I hit the power button all the keyboard lights light up but then it just stops. I tried the "hold the power button down" after opening up the plastic to see if the innards got wet (everything was dry on the inside) but the same thing would happen. Occasionally I could get it to recognize the power cable plugged in, and occasionally the power button would activate the CD drive and the keyboard lights, but the actual computer wont turn on. Is my laptop done for? I hope not cause I don't really have the money for a new one and my parents told me that I'm "Shit out of luck!" If anybody has any ideas as to how to fix this please let me know, I might be taking it in to a computer repair place, but that might mean best buy cause all the little shops keep closing down, and I would like to avoid that if necessary
  16. I hope Tyria is actually bigger, because it will seem a lot smaller in a persistent world. @Johnny, They said in the panel that they don't have anything available yet for cross continental play, but they are trying to get it to work. I don't really know what that details, but hopefully it will be available at launch. Also, like you said, some people say buying the expansion packs is equivalent to paying a sub, I bought the trilogy for 20 bucks on sale on steam and bought eye of the north for 9 bucks on amazon. I think it is a way better model, because deal hunters like myself will come out ahead! Although, I won't be getting a deal on the initial launch of GW2, because I've already pre-ordered it through amazon.
  17. Here is the panel from PAX, two half hour videos to watch. I am so excited for this game I can't sit still... or maybe thats because I have to pee. Anyways, the link is below. http://www.arena.net/blog/video-the-guild-wars-2-pax-east-panel
  18. I hate the time change, although I prefer this time over the other one

  19. Heres a whole bunch of Guild Wars 2 info from the sight Massively.com. A lot of this stuff is on the GW2 site, but some like the videos of the thief and the Norn starting area aren't. http://massively.joystiq.com/category/guild-wars-2/ Also, I'm assuming that this is an all purpose GW thread, so if anybody is playing GW 1 a the moment send me a notice as I'm just getting past Ascalon as a lvl 12 ranger! So far, fantastic game.
  20. Thank you for the compliments! I appreciate them, as I do try hard to look my best! I chose that picture for two reasons... 1) its the most recent picture of me, and 2) it is a good picture of me. I am very concerned with my looks, and that is me with more weight than I would like. I'm 6'0" and I weigh about 185 lbs. Ideally I would like my weight to drop to 175 lbs but I need to go to the gym more often then once every 4 months And for the whale watching, it was a pretty epic day. I live in Long Beach, CA (Snoop Dogg, Sublime, CSI Miami fame) and I went whale watching not to far from where I live, which is typically a pretty bad spot to find whales. We happened to not only see a whale, but also the whale "breached" and jumped out of the water, which is very uncommon to see during the migration. We also saw like hundreds of dolphins, but I am a little spoiled when it comes to dolphins because I work as a surf instructor in the summer and I have had dolphins in the ocean surf the same waves as me and come close enough to pet, which is a very awesome experience.
  21. @muddymoo Creating more questions is not an issue for me. I am constantly asking doing the same for myself, and I find that even though no new answers rise up I do feel as if things have put into a better perspective for me. Honestly I don't really know what I'm going to do, I feel like I shouldn't really leave him hanging and feel I should just ask him if everything is alright, but I don't want him to feel like I'm just doing it to prove that I am a good friend to him because he said I wasn't. My girlfriend and him are on decent terms so I asked her to, when she can find some spare time, see how he is doing and maybe help him. @LittlePirate What I am concerned about is maybe he wont wise up, maybe he does truly resent me, to which he won't accept my help. I also am still too upset at the moment to really go back and try to get things working out. I don't really want to jump in yet and start getting into the whole what I did wrong as a friend to him, and vise versa. I would like some of your personal experience though, as in how did you over come your depression and did you ever fix things up with your friends. If you don't want to answer I understand, I just have never really known anyone to suffer from depression and I want to know how someone who is depressed thinks so I can actually not be an idiot if I decide to rehash things.
  22. @ everyone, again thanks for all the support and advice. Like I said, I'm just going to let this run its course. If he wants to repair it then I am all ears, but I am personally too offended by what he said to email him and try to rehash things. @muddymoo, he said that I had disrespected him as a friend and not put enough energy into our friendship. I think he was upset because of me not being available that day we wanted to play BC2 together, and he just got angry at me for that. He said that our friendship had revolved only around playing that "bullshit game he has grown tired of playing", and that I cannot even give him the decency to respect him in that. That statement right there had irritated me for the last few days. If to him that was all our friendship revolved around then I guess we weren't as good of friends as I thought, because just two weeks ago he and I were hanging out, like we always did, and I had come to his house, driven him around where he wanted to go, helped him with advice on this girl he kind of liked and we did a little bit of a workout together. Honestly in that one day I would say that our friendship was deeper then playing one bullshit game together, and for him to say that was a slap in the face to me. @theflyinggerbil, I don't really know for sure if he is suffering from depression, but his constant mood swings make me believe he is. Especially since two days before our falling out a mutual friend of ours had stopped over at his place unexpected and they some how got on the conversation of me, and she said that he said great things about me, with no indication of any anger. I do not really know depression and how it works, but from what I do know these are symptoms of depression. I will be there to support him if he needs it, but like I said before, we wont be the same friends we were a week ago. Somethings said can't be taken back, no matter what the situation. We may, if given the chance, overcome what had happened between us but that will take some time for the wounds to heal.
  23. @HotChops, I too am not tired of the genre. I enjoyed, dare I say it, MW2 and Black Ops. They are pretty fun games. Battlefield is by far my favorite series so I am looking forward to BF3 more then ever. Honestly I am truly disappointed in the fact that Six Days in Fallujah, because it could have been a game that would tug at the emotional strings of the player. I could accomplish something that no FPS has been able to accomplish, a true emotional experience. I understand the reason people appose the release of the game, and why a game developer would want to stay away from something that drags so much negative attention, but I am still disappointed in the cancellation.
  24. six months after purchase, my OG 60 gig would freeze upon loading games, so I sent it in for warranty repair, and have had no problems since. I am thinking about upgrading the hard drive though cause I really want to play DCUO, but at 17+ gigs I'm going to need more space.
