The reason it's hard for a small website to get approved is pretty straightforward, really. It makes sense. There's a lot of shit out there, you might be more of it. If you're not, then people will approve. You only need 3 approvals (it starts off 10 but if its not discarded it goes down to 3), and if you can't get that many either it's not worth reading, you didn't put a good enough blurb for people to wonder if they should click, or its a rehash of something already posted. It's really, really easy to boost on N4G since anyone can get an account to approve things.
