  2. Nah, you don't need to worry. There is about as much continuity as the Dollars Trilogy. It's that same sort of "mythical" setup and this one gives you everything you need to know. Also, Mad Max 2 is great and totally watchable. The first one is a little odd and third one's okay.
  3. Yeah, I found some that are 70 extra, so I'm up to 130 total. I think I got them from the blacksmith in Oxenfurt but also saw them for sale with a lowly merchant in Lindenvale or somewhere. Cost about 450-something though. The merchant stock can really vary in weird and inconsistent ways though. A couple of times they've stopped selling an item after I've exited and reentered the menu, and then brought it back after I did the same again. I also dislike how it doesn't always show merchants unless you're near (or could be related to certain times of day), because I once stumbled across a decent Dwarven herbalist somewhere in Novigrad, but now I have no idea where he is...
  4. I think it's a bit about finding balance between inventory space, money from selling the item, cost of dismantling and whether you'll get anything useful from dismantling. What I tend to do is keep checking the Crafting section in the Glossary, which will show you what diagrams you've collected (although, you'll need to visit a Blacksmith/Armorer to make them). That'll show you what sort of items are needed to construct it. Also be sure to check what level you need to be to use an item, because I've made that mistake of gathering all sorts of items without realising I won't be able to use the thing until 5 levels later. You'll probably find soon enough that you get into this rhythm of finding new diagrams, playing on until you get enough weapons/armour from enemies to sell some and dismantle others, using the newly constructed stuff for a few levels before stumbling across other stuff a merchant is selling or in a chest, etc. I'm a real packhorse... so I turned Roach into one by purchasing the extra 70 weight saddlebags as soon as I had a decent amount of money. That way I can roam for a while and gather everything so I'm never short on things to sell or dismantle. If you're concerned about not healing while meditating, I believe there's a skill in the character screen (one of the "white" skills) that regens health quicker during the day. I'd heard of players switching that in and out for meditating so their health does restore.
  5. It's a mixture of nerf and a subtle switch of available options. Used to be, you could get a Shadow Price (Vanguard auto rifle) or Vanquisher (New Monarchy one) with decent impact but a slightly slower rate of fire. They could still dish out damage and, with the right perks, be stable enough that you could maintain a constant stream of precision shots needed for taking on "major" enemies. Then, after The Dark Below update, all the available auto rifles except New Monarchy's (for which you needed crucible marks from playing PvP or getting lucky with RNG) became bullet hoses. High rate-of-fire, extremely low impact and awful stability. I think the range on them took a hit too, so they were only effective at super close range. There was still Up For Anything, a Vanguard auto rifle, with alright impact but it was never great. Problem was, in Crucible the exotic auto rifle SUROS Regime reigned supreme, so when Bungie addressed that with a nerf, it affected everything. I guess even a slight adjustment can have a large impact because it's a "per bullet" deal. Now, with the HoW update, that Vanquisher's been adjusted and there's no real strong auto rifle for PvE. I think a pulse rifle would be a decent option, but I've only got experience with the exotic ones (which are both really good) so don't know the new ones.
  6. Loving this and wish I had more time to devote to it right now. As I mentioned on Twitter, I have just three niggles. 1. The weapons/armour degrade a little too fast for my liking, particularly if there's a mission where you're in for a long slog. Weapon and armour repair kits run a little expensive too. I'm hoping high quality items last longer (I have encountered the armourers who give you that Skellige forge quest so there's that to come). 2. And with the mention of Skellige, that brings me onto the most minor of points. Everyone pronounces things different to how I imagined them. Skellig-UH. VEL-un. I think even 'Melitele' is pronounced differently to Witcher 2. Could be wrong though. 3. And in another way I could be wrong. Has the radial/pie menu changed from Witcher 2? I've become so used to the Mass Effect way of doing it that the Witcher 3 method throws me off. I'd prefer if I could just hold the button, highlight what I want and let go; not press the button, highlight what I want and then press another button. It's not as conducive to mixing up fighting with multiple sign-castings, bomb throwing, etc. particularly because it only slows time rather than pauses it. Also, I got into Novigrad and I like that the first two things I encountered were lessons not to be an interfering, "damsel-rescuing" character.
  7. I don't think there's a wrong way to play Hunter, but I think they can take the most skill to excel at. Having all the options at your disposal will help with adapting to situations. It does depend on what you'll be doing as well; whether you'll be running through strikes or doing endgame content. Bladedancer is useful for a fair few things because of the invisibility skills you can unlock, but might struggle with killing tough enemies who take too long to kill, whereas Gunslingers are better for long range and can be good for generating orbs if pinned down in one space. Sometimes, it's a matter of matching your class to any active burns a mission might have (gunslinger is solar, bladedancer is arc) or whatever team strategy you have doing. For example, Prison of Elders has an objective involving capturing points while swarmed by enemies, a bladedancer can go invisible and sneak over to them whereas at other times you'll be fighting a tough boss where staying out in the open is a death sentence so might do better as a gunslinger. The other thing is which stats you prioritise on your armour. Intellect helps with getting your Super faster, Discipline for grenade regen and Strength for the melee ability regen. Generally, strength is a garbage stat, but will be more useful to certain hunters (a bladedancer, for example, has a skill to go invisible with blink strike) in certain situations. The only solid advice I can offer is to avoid auto rifles, since a slight nerf has made them virtually useless now. A gunslinger does well with handcannons, scout rifles and sniper rifles, especially if they've got the Chain of Woe ability for quicker reloads. Bladedancers will still do well with those weapons, but could also seize some cheeky shotgun kills, too. With some playtime under your belt, you'll get a feel for what works best for you and which situations require what.
  8. From the writer of Chronicle/maker of a "drunken history" of Death and Return of Superman. Should be fun.
  9. Ha, I think that's a perfect summary of the game for me. ...and GTA V to some extent.
  10. Wow, did the level 34 Prison of Elders challenge with our holy trinity of level 33s and it was simultaneously the most frustrating and most rewarding experience. Each class definitely played its role at certain points. Frustrating because it just chucks so much stuff at you and gives you that fucking defuse splinter mines objective far too often (and keeps switching up the order of them); rewarding because it really forces you to work as a team, to plan and coordinate. Everyone rush over to where the target spawns and just hit him with everything you can, get your hunter to go invisible and go defuse that mine that's overwhelmed, etc. Plus, you're switching up your loadouts and, sometimes, subclass. So it felt good when we finally managed to take the boss down. And while I appreciate that they created a somewhat interesting boss encounter, it was an absolute pain for our hunter. Basically, at certain points, the boss sets the ground on fire (the floor is lava!) for 9 seconds except it also counts for any bit of scenery. A titan can usually survive by jumping enough and floating down (or bubble with blessing of light when they have it), a warlock can do okay using the skill where they hover in the air when aiming down sights and a hunter... well, they just have to use triple jump and hope they can last. This pissed off our hunter and he either couldn't find a safe enough spot that he wasn't being shot by mobs, and whenever he found a safe corner it teleported(!) him to the middle of the arena and back on the ground (which is pretty much a death sentence). Worst part is, he thought he could quit out and bring in his warlock... except they've made it so no one can join back in once it's started. And, of course, two of us managed to beat it on that run, getting our etheric light and weapon core while he got nothing.
  11. I was a little put-off by Yen's casual remark about it being nothing serious or whatever, but I guess that's her character... I'm starting to warm to Keira too... Did you read any of the books? It's important to remember that she's like that towards Geralt because he's a giant douche himself. There's a lot of backstory which makes relationship between the two much deeper and complex. From what you'e saying they didn't made that very clear in the game. *sigh* And holy shit, Keira's in this game? Can you pound her too? Yeah, I've read enough to know that's what her character's like. It's a love/hate thing. Just felt odd how accepting Geralt was about the disparaging remark towards Triss. As for Keira...
  12. Nah, Geralt's always called his horses "Roach" even in the books.
  13. I was a little put-off by Yen's casual remark about it being nothing serious or whatever, but I guess that's her character... I'm starting to warm to Keira too... I've played a fair few hours but I don't think I've gotten very far. I want to see a big city but I haven't reached one yet. Probably my own fault though... So, yeah, still loving it and the experience is gradually coming together. It just feels like I need to reach a certain point before it all clicks, either through discovering a little more or levelling up enough to take on some of the tougher monsters I've hurtled past on Roach.
  14. Yeah, I'm liking it. Got The Ram from an exotic engram, plus I'm trying to get my 33 fireteam to attempt the 34 PoE. Just wish I had at least on etheric light to up my vision of confluence. I've got a bunch of old weapons I want to ascend (shadow price, swarms, comedians, the devil you know), but with the rate that etheric light will be dropping at the moment, that could take a while...
  15. I have heard good things about The Warrior and Locke too (couple of films I've never got round to watching). Though, you'd have to judge the accent in the latter.
  16. A bunch of my friends watch Hearthstone streams but that is because they are either a) picking up new combos/strategies or b) looking at boobies. Sometimes, a little of A and B. Mostly the Bs I guess I can kinda see the appeal for some people (a few of my friends are web designers so just have things on while working) but it is kinda weird. I mean, I'd watch people for critical analysis or some insight but that's not what you typically see. Just some people playing a game, saying things they like or dislike with no actual thought given, laughing at things, COUGHING LOUDLY etc. It's boring more than anything. I guess it's like everyone thinking they can be a film critic but now with a much younger medium.
  17. Unfortunately not. However, once you get some other materials from the endgame stuff you can "ascend" them. However, exotics only need exotic shards to be ascended. 365 damage Gjallahorn right away!
  18. Oh, wow, so Bungie removed a great deal of the grind. New weapons and armour all start at max stats; you just have to unlock the perks (reroll them till you get the ones you want). No more grinding for materials or ascendant shards/energy.
  19. No one ever leaves. Not really.
  20. Funny how drowners were the beginner enemies in Witcher 1, but they're pretty lethal in 2 (and 3, it sounds like).
  21. The series gets to another long awaited showdown (at least that's my impression) and you get a messily directed shambles. The Tunnel Snakes put up a better fight (tunnel snakes rule!) This season has been kinda disappointing as a whole.
  22. You can have different incarnations of "The Joker" (he tends to "reinvent" himself in the comics). Let 'em go with it.
  23. Passage coins are for the Trials of Osiris, the 3v3 mode where you buy passage (I think the coins are exp buffs or something though?) and play until you get 9 wins or 3 losses. I've seen people getting all sorts of weapons from Salvage; some look nice while others are literally raid weapons recoloured (ugh). The update's not out until 6pm over here. Not a problem in general, but it'll clash with my Witcher 3 installing/updating maybe. Hrmph. I shall have a busy evening.
