  1. I've watched 3 episodes of House of Cards now, and I can't say I'm particularly taken with it. I know one of my favourite shows of all time, The Wire, was slow to start (and episodes were more like 'chapters') but that had an interesting, diverse bunch of human characters. I don't particularly care for anyone or anything happening in HoC. Though, I found episode 3, with the Peachoid more entertaining than the others. Given the amount of hype and praise though, I am expecting some sort of radical game-changing thing at some point (kinda like S1 of The Wire), so I'll continue watching.
  2. The LEGO Movie. Funny, pretty, silly, perhaps even moving. Good watch.

Now we know her X-Men character's middlename must be 'Gay'.
  4. I saw the film was coming to UK Netflix and then I just got impatient and had to watch that scene again and then I remembered how much I love the music. 1:30-ish is awesome, and you can tell exactly what's happening at the 4-minute mark
  5. I remember seeing the political compass stuff, which was pretty interesting. UK 2010 US 2012
  6. I'm getting cranky in my old age. Seriously, though, I am finding myself increasingly weary of the same old open-world tropes, and I've always found inFAMOUS one of the worst offenders.
  7. I wouldn't mind it so much if it were passive. If it supposed to be like shooter reload mechanics, it should work more like that. Better yet, make a proper superpower action game and forget all that. I don't think it adds any appreciable difficulty that shouldn't already come from the enemies, nor am I in favour of the same old 'you have to go and activate the things so you can go to this part of the map' stuff.
  8. I don't feel it adds anything besides irritation.
  9. I know it was in the first two. I was hoping they'd ditched it.

  11. I had to because a goddamn bug meant I got everything but the game didn't say 100%
  12. I'd like to be able to kill everyone. ...wait, what thread is this?
  13. Oh, and that Sentinels of the Multiverse tablet version has a gameplay preview video now. Due later this year (hopefully). I can see ways in which it will be great (easy setup, automatic tracking of everything) but also how it might be tricky to get a decent overview of certain effects before they occur (e.g. 'this environment card deals the hero target with the second lowest HP, H melee damage') among other things like checking the trash/discard piles (one hero has a mechanic related to this, and so do a few villains). I could see a sort of way to fix that first issue though (place the appropriate icon on the 'effecting' card, so you can see what it's targetting). As for general criticisms and more insight, well, there are more details over here.
  14. Ugh, I did it finally! Firefly: The Game - The Starter's Guide, now all prettyfied and with clickable links for the examples.
  15. OK, so I'm pretty much caught up on Justified, barring whatever's been aired of S5. I definitely feel that S3 and 4 put too much emphasis on the long-running arcs over the quirkier stuff. As in, it starts off strong with odd diversions and then it just goes full steam for the big seasonal focus without room for anything else. And though Walton Goggins is great, and I can see what they were getting at, the whole Detroit mafia thing and the Ava stuff just felt a little 'off'.
  16. That was four months ago! Discussing it with my friend, a new (possibly, completely off) theory of mine, having not read the comics:
  17. The original's alright, but this is something else.
  18. Really? Didn't encounter that myself, to the best of my recollection, so I'd be interested to hear (in spoiler tags, obviously). I was actually a tiny bit disappointed in the episode. I still love the atmosphere and characterisation and everything, but it did feel a little too short, or at least brief and less substantial. Didn't help that there were bugs ruining the experience slightly (the end of episode summary stuff just didn't load) and I felt hurried along at parts. I do appreciate the roleplay stuff, even if the story impact turns out to be minor, but the differences seemed a little too stark here. It was either be a dick/break stuff or be a real nice, patient guy. However, I'm still looking forward to seeing the rest of it unfold as I enjoy just being in that world and looking at all the 'pretty'. p.s. yeah, nice boobs.
  19. Yeah, that can be tricky. I seem to recall that we were ferrying plasma pistols from that previous room and into the corridor so we had enough ammo in the first place.
  20. They added in holding the back button to get an overview of the weapons in Reach, didn't they? Or maybe that was in 4. Either way, that was handy. I seem to recall Resistance 2 having done something similar. Figuring out the plasma pistol thing in Halo was great. I mean, maybe my friend and I are idiots for not realising sooner (or reading the manual maybe?) but we completed Halo 1 on Legendary yet couldn't get past the first level in Halo 2 because of the hangar where it fills with Elites; we just kept running out of ammo because we couldn't keep up the firepower to overhwhelm their shields without being shot up too much ourselves. Then I discovered that a charge plasma pistol shot homes slightly and completely knocks off shields, setting up the Elites for a simple battle rifle headshot. So, yeah, we did that and triumphed. Will always remember that. Anyway, cool story, bro. That's why I kinda like 'having' to figure out how weapons function.
  21. I think that needs moving to Weird & Awful Web. OH BAZING.
