  1. I had fraps running and measuring the framerate out of curiosity, it would stay in the 40s then just drop for no real reason, the worse one was during a lull in combat, so it wasn't like there was much going on, but like I said, as soon as I hit escape into the menus then back into the game it jumped back up. Really strange. Here's another shot of a graphical glitch: Flying pixelated man.
  2. so I just finished the pc demo, played through as a male mage. I don't mind the animations, it really gives the vanilla attack for mage some flair. I'm glad to see they kept the ability to pause and control your teammates. I wish they would have kept the camera options of DA: O, however. I managed to work myself into a kinda-sorta isometric view, but miss the ability to really move around and survey the area like I could before. With the demo, I found myself fiddling with the camera more than I would like, switching between views and angles for different situations. With Origins, it was a simple matter of the scroll wheel. Now its scrolling then repositioning, scrolling more to fine tune... more trouble than I'd like. I wish the inventory wasn't locked out on the demo. On a technical side of things, anyone else have trouble at all? The framerate was really jumpy for me, in a few fights it'd drop to like 17, but as soon as I jumped in and out of a menu it'd be back up to normal. Also I'd get some weird visual glitches like so: All in all, its not as terrible as I feared, but I'm definitely going to wait until it goes on sale or a goty / ultimate edition is released. I still wish they'd build on what they started with origins, instead of doing what feels like a reboot. I especially still miss the option to play as other races, as well as controlling my party's gear.
  3. yea that's the broken door waaaay at the beginning of the game.
  4. I admit, I laughed at the cheap red ring joke.
  5. all in all I think I prefer netflix more, but its interesting to see some competition, and see how the libraries compare.
  6. wow, it works pretty well. movie started fast, nothing to download, its right there in the browswer and you can pop it out, go into full screen. streaming Short Circuit right now for a test.
  7. beat it last night. Loved it. The game was hilarious.
  8. I'm on my second one, technically, although its been sent to Sony and repaired. The system died earlier last year (YLOD), had Darksiders stuck inside it no less. I sent it in and paid the total of like ~$180 to have it fixed; I could have gotten a slim, but I want to keep my BC. So until I can't repair mine any more, I'm keeping my 60 gb phat. So that's 1 dead ps3, 1 dead Wii, and um... 5? dead 360s
  9. I'm a bit late to the party, but I hate WD drives, for the record. Never had a seagate go bad on me. have fun upgrading though!
  10. part of why I don't pay attention to reviews with scores. Metacritic can eat a bag of dicks, I'm not looking at that for a metric on quality.
  11. Thoughts of the excercise / Kinect / Wii gaming fad for soldier rehabilitation? Thoughts of current gaming (COD, BFBC, MOH, etc) trends and audiences suffering from PTSD? The latter would be very interesting to me, with my father suffering from Iraq induced PTSD.
  12. Sorcerer's Apprentice. It wasn't too bad, kinda funny.
  13. The stand, not the tv. And the one I got is black instead of that brown. I also went by the nearest Dillons (Kroger to some of you other Americans) and got the price of it in gift cards for the gas points. Purchase I was going to make anyway, plus 800 points.
  14. not video game, but still: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cq6L7_M4DLU

  16. I'm glad I'm not losing my sense of humor after having a kid. sheesh.
  17. no harm in being cautious, just check out reviews and prices, do your research and you should be golden.
  18. I really don't see what the worry is beyond going through any other retailer. If you want ease and instant gratification, go with a local b&m retailer. If that still allows you the m11x, great. If not, I'd suggest a 17" ASUS system. Better / similar performance, about the same price, larger form factor. Alienware / dell has decent customer service, but I've never really needed it. I sold the system to a buddy, he's starting to have hardware problems now, its about 4 years old. One great thing about alienware: vanilla install. They will install, make a back up, run benchmarks, run the backup to base Windows install. No bloatware, no "free offers" crap. If you didn't ask for it to be installed (steam, WOW, etc), they don't.
  19. not that I've seen unless you are looking for a slightly less portable 17" I didn't have any issues with my order from alienware, they required my signature and wouldn't leave it without one.
  20. lol yea I'm actually still working through Origins. I got on the the computer with the intentions of playing, but ended up on forums...
