http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817256054 BAM! also: granted it was while overclocked, but still also, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121436 only $699.
  2. looks like a good system. I'm looking at that cpu and possibly same motherboard (deciding between that and MSI) if I can scrounge up the cash, probably after I sell off a few things.
  3. second season isn't finished yet, iirc. I've been watching them as they air. Good show.
  4. it is rather obnoxious, especially after 775 had such a long run, I expected them to have settled on a new socket type by now that would last a similar amount of time.
  5. Going back to this, the battle code is now only 800 msp on 360. $10. That previous amount may have been held for before the game's street date.
  6. I'll catch up later but for Day 7: Jackie Estacado and Jenny -- The Darkness.
  7. for a minute I thought I stepped into the WWYTB thread. ...I would.
  8. yea I learned cursive in elementary, but by middle school it basically became frowned upon, and then computers led to most papers and work being typed so I haven't really used cursive in years. Even when writing checks I use a weird cursive / print hybrid. Here ya go:
  9. I guess I'm in the sucker grouping. And I will say Guerrilla is kicking my ass.
  10. lol you don't drive in Topeka, do you? Hell even Lawrence roads are crap in a lot of areas.

  13. RPS summed it up about perfectly. I enjoyed the game, what little of it there was. The campaign is just horribly short, and when I can justify a 6-8 hour campaign on a modern AAA release, this is just beyond too short. The story is fine, its engaging and interesting enough you want to see it through. Anyone who was expecting a feeling of "America fuck yea" in this game will be pleasantly disappointed (unless that's your thing). There are scenes that are quite unsettling, designed to make an impact and I think they do so efficiently. The ending however, is rather annoying that it just... ends. No real feeling of resolution, maybe a minor feeling of accomplishment, but an overwhelming of "that's it... what?" And they are right, if the developers wanted to make you feel like you were just a piece of something much larger, they succeeded. Too well, even. The majority of the game your objective is to "follow," even during gunfights. Running ahead is useless. You will either be killed, or stuck waiting at a door or ladder that you can't interact with until the NPC you were supposed to follow catches up and opens the door for you or goes up the latter first, to the point of obnoxiousness. One of the things I did like was the use of QR codes in the environments as wall graffiti. I've found 4 or 5 of them thus far, and they don't really bring up much, a few downloadable phone backgrounds and a video / pdf. Either way, I find the concept neat. After some back and forth I decided to give the multiplayer a try and found it... surprisingly competent. The maps are good, I like the spawn points, the ability to spawn in a team vehicle is a nice touch, as well as the ability to unlock your bonuses in mid game (RPG, flak jacket, etc) with the points that you accumulate. all in all its not a horrible game, I'm quite glad I've played it, but average is a fitting score for it.
  14. I got brought it home yesterday before work. But after work I was dead tired from lack of sleep and then the boy was fussy for hours... .. tl;dr I got it, haven't played it yet.
  15. It's a Zenimax / Bethesda release.
  16. lol I remember that game. and Galaxian, on a mini arcade cabinet thing that you could put on your lap or a table. EDIT: It was a Coleco Tabletop Arcade my Dad had.
  17. just cancelled my gamefly account.

  18. I don't want to derail the game opening thread further, so bump. also http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/zero-punctuation/2863-Bulletstorm normally I think Yahtzee makes great points, even when I find I disagree with him. With this one, I really think it comes down to gameplay styles. The fast paced gameplay he lamented the lack of I found to be in abundance. Run, slide, shoot, I think I remember only two areas I really felt I needed cover, and that was because my usual tactic of barge in guns blazing wasn't working about 4 times over. I mean, Echoes is built around doing speed runs and racking up as many points as possible through sections of the level. As for the enemies using cover and not grouping, leash + kick worked well for those, and the freaks grouped rather well. Burn, Acid Rain, and many other skillshots are easy to come by with the green faced weirdos. It's a shame really, I remembered Yahtzee mentioning his love for Painkiller, so was actually hoping to see one of those rare "I liked this game" reviews of his, but I know, that's not what he's known for. I really hate to say "you're playing it wrong." But to me, it actually seems like he was. It's funny, last time I took issue with a review based on the style of play was kotaku's review of Mirror's Edge by whatshernamewhosnolongerthere.
