Excessive, early and excessively early DLC
Faiblesse Des Sens replied to peteer01's topic in General Gaming Chat
My issue with GOTY editions is that not much DLC is any good to begin with! Why pay $50 for the "complete" edition where only one or two of the extra bits are worth the money, instead of picking up the original game for $10 and the only good DLC for another $15? -
Yeah, I agree that it definitely only fits certain games. I think it's great design in the first place to have your game setup to not be gameplay heavy if it doesn't need to be. I keep thinking of Heavy Rain while I type that. They didn't even attempt to have a combat system or anything like that. They had a vision and stuck to it.

What about games that have a great/interesting story with some level of interaction that you can only find in a videogame? I think combat should be skippable in those games. I would have loved to skip combat in DA:O and still play through the story how I wanted. The same with The Witcher. Though I do like The Witcher 2's combat.

How are they cutting it out when it takes a separate team to create it after the game is already done?

2012 and you're still buying games from major studios let alone at launch? See, there's your problem. There's nothing new going on here.

What are you listening to now?

IMO, lyrics are a pretty huge part of Cursive/Tim Kasher's appeal in general. Lose that, and you're not left with much. -

Did we listen to the same album? I don't think it's anywhere close to Domestica or The Ugly Organ. The album had maybe two good tracks and yes I've listened to it more than once. One of my favorite Antlers tracks. It was really great live. -
Your pancakes look like our crepes. I feel like making vegan pancakes for breakfast now... hmm...

http://kotaku.com/speakup/forum?comment=47179435 Funnily enough, my first thought "wait, what if the frame was just covering the watermark?" Which is exactly what happened.

For example, when you need to use a box to obtain another box even though you were perfectly able to navigate through most of the puzzle with a single box. Now you have to either die to restart the chapter or drag the box back through obstacles the opposite direction. There was another one where you had to first move a cart slightly to the left because at the end of the puzzle you needed to land on it as the ground would actually become electrified. You basically have to die a few times to properly prepare for some puzzles is where I'm getting at. As a general rule, I would drag boxes as long as I could just in case I needed to use them again. I think what's going on here is that you are avoiding dying instead of embracing death. The death animations are great and you never start that far back. The game is very much based on the fact that you are going to die learning.

Foresight into puzzle solving?

Yeah, but we don't know if the whole game will be like that. I remember reading reports of people being able to do this one part they were letting people play in many different ways, true to a far cry game.

But of course, you won't bother to read into the subject, and if you do you'll just disregard it.

Haven't watched anything recent, but how do you know it's scripted? I mean, don't most trailers look scripted?
-
That's not bad, but how does it look with a bunch of names?

Why anyone is even bothering with this hypocritical, blind, purposefully ignorant person, is beyond me. The fact that Yantelope can take a well thought out few paragraphs and just throw them away without refuting anything and disregarding what others say for the vaguest of reason is proof enough that he can't be swayed.

Windows 8 has a desktop mode. Everyone on the Internet will ignore it so they can argue about how much Windows 8 sucks.

Wow, that's it for party members? What happened to the new characters from ME2 that weren't connected to Cerberus?

My local grocery store is all local and organic and shit. I spend about a million dollars a month on groceries. No coupons.

But I love my bad reputation!

Personally, I'm worried about nanomachines.

I've never played such an undramatic, dramatic game. The Clint Mansell song at the end of the first part of the demo was the best thing about it.

Dear Esther ...am I posting in the right section?

Look at your URL. It's borked. The "feature player embed" part is before the code for the video.
