Yeah, that's definitely an issue I have, I can't get excited for new Netflix stuff because I don't believe for a second that they won't cancel it halfway through.

I have been sleeping on MCU of late, as you put it, but did watch Ms. Marvel and second the recommendation. It's good stuff. Interesting that there's no "Avengers" film in Phase 5 at all.

Games You Beat in 2022: PXoD's Bogus Journey

I'm about to start book 2 chapter 2 and while I'm not yet as invested in this stuff as I was book 1, it's still good and I could see it getting there. -
I played the first chapter of book 1 this morning right after I posted that. I was planning to play with my Razer Kishi, but based on your post I just played with touch controls and it worked great. I'm really looking forward to continuing it

Games You Beat in 2022: PXoD's Bogus Journey

For me Lego Builder's Journey had several points where they would introduce a new mechanic and it would be this little flash of joy that would last for a few levels, but I agree that stuff tended to overstay its welcome and get repetitive. -
My wife and I are visiting her family this week, so I'm planning to play As Dusk Falls on my phone through Xcloud, glad to hear it works well.

My wife and I have been playing Escape Academy, and really quite enjoying it. It's definitely something that should be played coop though, I think if I were playing alone I probably wouldn't like it nearly as much. I also tried out the Forza Horizon 5 Hotwheels DLC with my new racing wheel today, and it was great. Not only was the wheel itself great, but I feel like the DLC as a whole brings back some of the ridiculousness and spectacle that I thought was missing from the base game. Now that I've tested everything's working with the wheel though I'm making myself stop playing until the shifter gets here (it shipped separately), cause I don't want to get through all the DLC before I have my full setup. I've also been replaying Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak. Still a great game, I'm really impressed with well they managed to bring the experience of classic Homeworld to a game on a planetary surface. Finally, I've also also been replaying Titanfall 2. I mainly restarted this to put my Elite Series 2 controller through its paces, and I definitely chose right in that respect. It's also still one of the best FPS campaigns ever.

The whole trilogy is on Game Pass. *Edit - As far as it looking better with DLSS, I'm basing that on the benchmark mode, so it's possible in actual gameplay the trailing artifacts would be worse, cause the bench camera doesn't tend to do a whole lot of fast pans. So mostly what I mean is that the jaggies are lessened and there was no apparent downside to offset that. Although I guess it's also possible they patched it to fix the trailing problems too.

Of the games I've tested it with Deliver Us the Moon was the game that had the biggest visual differences between DLSS and no DLSS. In that game I couldn't tell a difference between native and DLSS Quality, but both Balanced and Performance were noticeable when swapping back and forth. Without swapping back and forth only Performance was noticeably worse bar a few very specific cases (like in the cockpit at the end of the first level there are some shadows on one set of switches that get weird artifacts with DLSS, that kind of thing). Several games I tested (eg Rise of the Tomb Raider and Hitman 3) actually looked better than native with DLSS on, even in Balanced mode, because DLSS does a better job of antialiasing than the game's native TAA does, so there were was less edge-jaggies. So yes, DLSS is black magic.

So the Elite Series 2 controller is great. I really love the programmable back paddles (which is good, because they're why I got it). I was able to set up Titanfall 2 so I can do every single action in the game without ever taking my thumbs off the sticks, which is fantastic for a shooter, especially one with as much mobility as this. What surprised me though is how much I like the adjustable tension in the sticks. I was having problems picking a sensitivity, because if I could turn as fast as I wanted then it was too touchy for small precision movements, but just bump the stick tension up a notch and all of a sudden I have the best of both worlds between precision and max turn speed. It's great. I highly recommend this controller. Why I actually came here: Felt a hankering to play Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, so I booted it up and played the tutorial with the Steam Controller, and as much as I love that thing it just is not good enough for an RTS (the inability to set control groups was what killed it). I still want to play on my LG C1 though, which is across the room from my PC tower, so my wired keyboard is a PITA to move back and forth, thus I sprung for this wireless one, the G915. It's mechanical too, which I wasn't specifically looking for, but I guess now I can see what all the fuss is about (I got the "tactile" one). I wouldn't have done this just for Deserts of Kharak, but I was already feeling the limitations of the Steam Controller on Dyson Sphere Program, and I have some other games I intend to play in the near future that will likely benefit from a full keyboard as well, so I went for it.

Everspace This is a space flight sim roguelite, looked really cool, but I'm glad I got it as part of a pack because somehow they managed to make it boring.
-
Oh, that's too bad, I've heard good things about that game. Some of the things though make it sound like it might be a lot better with two people.
-
Thinking about it more, I want Dyson Sphere Program but made by the Surviving Mars devs. I like the way the logistics in that game work better. And the more I think about it, the more I'm sad that game doesn't exist.

Don't worry, owning things that you don't use is just the way of the world. I bought a fancy new Xbox Elite controller with back paddles and everything, and the first thing I did was play a game that only uses 2 buttons, and the second was play a game that doesn't have controller support at all.

Dyson Sphere Program This is a good game. As the name suggests, your goal is to build a Dyson sphere. You play as essentially a Von Neuman probe, so you land in a completely undeveloped system, and have to build the industrial base from scratch. Think Factorio but ~IN SPACE~! I was enjoying it, but it just got a little too finicky for me. You never really get past where you're having to micro manage everything, and it all just got too much for me to want to mess with trying to balance everything. If you're into that kind of game though I imagine you'd love it, but I'd prefer something more like Anno with a little more automation available. And before @toxicitizen says I give up on games too fast, I played it for 20 hours. Grade: B

My case lights don't change, they're only blue. My mouse and keyboard are both Logitech ones that have adjustable colors, so I messed with that until it matched the blue from the case. If the case was color-changing I wouldn't be able to match them.

I don't have a cool gif to post, I'm just going to post a boring components list for my recent rebuild: CPU: Core i5 12600k GPU: MSI Geforce RTX 3080 10GB RAM: 32GB Kingston DDR4 4000MHz (though I haven't been able to get it higher than 3600MHz for some reason...) Mobo: ASRock Z690 Phantom Gaming 4 Storage: Samsung 980 Pro 2TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2 I did finally adjust my mouse and keyboard LEDs so they match the blue from my PC tower. *Edit - pics

I hope so. It's certainly off to a good start. They were talking on the news and said that first picture was a 12 hour exposure, and that it would have taken Hubble a several-weeks-long exposure to get a comparable image.

Games You Beat in 2022: PXoD's Bogus Journey

FAR: Lone Sails This is a neat little game, where you're basically running a landship (yes!) and cruising across a desolate wasteland. You have to collect fuel to keep it running, but that becomes pretty trivial pretty quickly, so the main challenge revolves around clearing various obstacles that you encounter so you can keep on your way. My favorite part though was the soothing, almost-but-not-quite mindless rhythm of keeping the machine running when you're on flat ground. You set the throttle, clear the steam build-up, put fuel in the engine, reset the throttle, etc. It's very satisfying, and I wish there was an infinite mode where you could just do that forever. It's pretty short, but satisfying, and I'd recommend it to anyone who's interested. Grade: A
