Well it fixed DX11 and turning on DX11 fixes the sound stuttering in cutscenes for me. So now I can actually play the game, which is a major plus.

Have you ever known anyone to get pissed off when someone says "Merry Christmas"? The only anger I've ever seen wrt the greeting is when Christians flip the fuck out because someone says "Happy Holidays". My wife worked retail. Yep, some people get pissed when you wish them Merry Christmas. Those are the people whom I hope can never have children. I fear for my "nephew." His mother is a Catholic but his father is the most absolutely ignorant and self-righteous atheist out there. I just hope his son doesn't grow up to be so arrogant and intollerant as his dad. I wish people would just take the sentiment as it's offered. You know what I do when someone says "Have a merry Christmas" to me? I say "Thank you, you too." Srsly ppl.

Yeah, the general rule here is that everyone pays their own attorneys, unless one side is just being completely, obviously, and undeniably unreasonable and thus unfairly causing the other to rack up fees. So like if I go to court and get a court order that you have to do such and such you do not have to pay my attorneys fees. If, however, after the court issues that order you still just flat refuse to do the such and such, so I have to go back to court again to get an order for the sheriff to make you do it, then you have to pay my fees for the second trip to court because you should have just obeyed the order.

You know what the one suggestion I have is? Get rid of that fucking grey plane that blocks half the background image of the themes YOU sell! WTF?

True, I'm used to the American system where you can almost never recover attorney's fees from the other side.

Not to mention that the prayer in schools thing isn't even true. You can pray in public school as much as you want. You can pray all goddamned day if you want to (though you might get in trouble for not paying attention...) That's the free exercise clause. The only thing that is not allowed is that the (public) school cannot sponsor prayer. That's the establishment clause. FFS!

I agree it's silly, I was perfectly content to celebrate a secular Christmas in which we remember the birth of Santa, but whatever, it doesn't actually matter to me. But with her I don't think it's for attention because I don't think she plans to broadcast it, I think it's more just for the sake of intellectual honesty. Tangentially: I thought "happy Christmas" was the British saying, and "merry Christmas" was the American one. Was I wrong?

Yes and no. I talk about Desmond's situation at the start of this game, which necessarily implies something about the ending of the previous game, but I don't directly explain any plot points from earlier games.

Going back to the war on religion in this country, my wife informs me that we are no longer celebrating Christmas, we're celebrating the winter solstice. We now have a solstice tree and solstice lights and are giving each other solstice presents. I'm okay with this, except unlike Christmas I have to work on the solstice.

From what I understand about the nature of the bug it stems from the PS3's divided memory pool and the only way to "fix" it is just to not release it on PS3.

I don't know what numbers you're looking at, but education costs are handled mostly by the states, so most of the money wouldn't show up on federal spending. *Edit* - I do agree that we don't spend enough on education though. I've seen studies (no I don't have links) that say that for every $1 you spend on education you save $6-7 in corrections (courts, prison, etc).

I don't like the Salvation Army specifically, but I do take your point, and I do give to charity. You can't honestly believe this can you? I mean, I can understand the argument that using government to cure social ills is less efficient and effective than private charity (I disagree but I understand it), but you can't honestly believe that government has never done any good at all, can you? It's not that I specifically desire to pay higher taxes, it's that I would be willing to do so in order to support better social programs. But the state of federal spending is such that I disagree with its priorities, and so I'm not just going to give them more money that they'll spend on something other than what I want them to. (To be clear: I pay my taxes, I'm not one of those crazy people who refuses to because they don't like what the government spends it on, I'm just not going to voluntarily give more.) Basically the crux of it is that I wish the government would do more to help people, and I would be willing to pay more in taxes in order to accomplish that. I don't have some desire to just give money to the government for the sake of giving money to the government. This I agree with 100%. ^5

@Battra: I don't want to get into an argument, but I do want to say that as someone who also goes to work daily to support his family I disagree with you. And no, I don't feel like America owes me anything. I look at this from the perspective of someone who makes more than the national median income and say that we, those who are well enough off, should do more to help those who aren't. That means that yes, I will vote for a candidate who promises to raise my taxes to support social programs. Don't assume that everyone who thinks that way does so because it would be a personal financial benefit to them, or that they feel they are owed something.
