  1. Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch (Switch) I'm super late to the party, but I'm glad I joined. I think I'm finally becoming a person who likes JRPGs. I don't have a lot to elaborate on, it was just an all-around pleasant experience.
  2. I did try the FAR mod and PCGW, and neither helped. I'm an idiot for it not occurring to me to get a PS4 copy...
  3. I keep going around and around in my head about getting a new, bigger monitor, and it's all because of Nier: Automata. That game crashes when I try to play it on my TV because my TV supports HDR (which makes the game crash even if you have HDR disabled), so to play it I'll have to do it on my monitor, but my monitor (20") feels so small compared to my TV that I don't want to do that, so then I go "maybe I should get a bigger monitor", but then I think that's stupid to get a bigger monitor just for one game when I have my 4k TV hooked to the computer that works for every other game, then I come back around to but I really want to play Nier: Automata...
  4. @MetalCaveman You use the word "fun" a lot, so I'm wondering if I've completely misapprehended that game. Based on the aesthetic and what I'd seen of it I assumed it was another slow slog type zombie game, like The Last of Us or whatever. Am I wrong? Is it more of a joy-to-play type game?
  5. Drum roll please... Fire Emblem: Three Houses I mean, honestly, how could it have been anything else? I played this game three times! In like 2 months! And each time is like 60 hours! It clearly got its hooks into me hard. I rarely replay games anymore, and never back-to-back like that. But every time I'd finish and think about playing something else I'd go "Nah, I really need to do Golden Deer still..." I love all the interlocking parts that go into how the various stories interact, and I love the Hogwarts lifesim nonsense, and the TBS battles, and really everything about it. And it's got the best characters. Probably my favorite part is how the different characters all interact with each other and develop relationships independent of their relationship with the protagonist. Everything about it just draws me in so much. I think I might be talking myself into a 4th playthrough, gotta do the non-secret Black Eagles route...
  6. Bacon has gone insane with generosity, and I am the benefactor. First is Civ VI: Gathering Storm, which means my Civ VI empire is finally complete! Then, as if that weren't enough, he adds ACE COMBAT 7! Finally, Ace of Seafood, which I've never even heard of but from what I can glean it involves fighting giant sea life, including fish that shoot lasers from their mouths and crabs that wield lightsabers, so I dig it. ? Thank you bacon!
  7. Yeah, I've surprised myself by discovering that I have no desire to see ROS in theaters. First time for a main line Star Wars during my life. I really liked TLJ, but as soon as they gave it back to Abrams and it became clear they were going to "fix" the "problems" from TLJ I completely lost interest.
  8. That's not looking good. Although I will say that the current administration has so heavily politicized basic government functions that I don't really believe anything they say about anything anymore. It's almost to the point where the National Weather Service says it's going to be cloudy and I'm like "or is that just what Trump wants them to say...?"
  9. That article is full of double-speak. "It's just Xbox going forward, just this one is the Series X". So, it is an Xbox Series X then. I mean it sounds like if Toyota was like "It's just Toyota going forward, but this specific one is a Corolla" and then saying I'm missing the point when I call it a Toyota Corolla.
  10. That monitor looks awesome. I forgot to post it in here but we also got an air purified for our bedroom. My wife has been really stuffed up for a while, and even switching her allergy medicine didn't really help, so we thought it might be dust in the air. It's made a huge difference. We got a Winix 5500-2: They're definitely not small, this one's about 2.5 feet tall.
  11. Ooh, this is gonna be hard. I'm going to have to put some thought into this... I don't think naming an expansion is cheating if it's the size of a full game.
  12. One bit of advice an art teacher once gave me, that sounds ridiculous but turns out it's true, is that your eyes are halfway between the bottom of your chin and the top of your head. I definitely feel like you're improving, that one is a lot better than the one from October.
  13. I'm guessing the fact that they say "all" your Xbone accessories, but only "thousands" of your old games means that they will have back compatibility for a lot of titles, but not for everything. If I had to, I'd bet that anything that runs on an Xbone will run on this, and while that includes lots of previous gen games it's not all of them.
  14. I agree RE: Hellblade, this was not needed, and should not exist. Certainly not with Senua as the character.
  15. "Xbox Series X"? FFS, they need a better naming department. I don't hate the look of the box, but I'm having a hard time imagining where I could fit it around my TV...
  16. I look into NAS's from time to time, and am always put off by how expensive they are, even for an empty shell with no drives inside.
  17. I just had an internal HDD go bad, luckily not with anything on it that I cared about. It did spur me to rearrange my other more important files into a single mirrored volume so I have redundancy if one of my other ones die.
  18. @Mister Jack Yeah, I think Redbox is the only place around here that does them.
  19. I don't know if it invented it, but certainly the archetypal example of that is in RDR1 when you first get to Mexico and are riding across the desert. Except when I was playing I died during that part and it spawned me at the town you're supposed to be riding too, so I completely missed the moment everyone was raving about...
  20. It's a crazy right wing conspiracy theory. The same theory is the source of the Biden corruption rumors.
  21. @Mal Mine is on a wired network, so I don't really have interference. It also probably helps that the line from my gaming PC to my router to my secondary switch/AP is gigabit, so the 100 megabit line from the secondary switch to the Steam Link can only use up to 10% of the main line's bandwidth, leaving plenty of overhead for other stuff (and really it's 3% since Steam streaming is limited to 30 Mbps).
  22. @Mal 4k is doable even at 100 Mbps, though at slightly lower bits per pixel than what they max out at with the 1080p. Though it would still be a quality improvement, even at 3x the data (90 Mbps) for 4x the resolution. @MetalCaveman I fucking love Gravity Rush, but I've already played the hell out of them. I'm kind of jealous of you.
  23. I was kicking myself for not having bought a Steam Link when they were $5, because my wife has been playing Ni No Kuni 2 a lot using in-home streaming and the way we were doing it was clunky and took a while to start every time*. Then I found a used one on eBay for $25 including shipping that looked good, so I bought it. I'm really happy with the condition, if it weren't for the places the stickers had torn the cardboard of the box a little bit I wouldn't even know it had ever been opened. It works so much more smoothly than streaming to another (old) PC too. *We were using our HTPC as a client, which is getting on in years, so it takes a long time to boot first Windows and then launch Steam. Normally I just put it to sleep, so it doesn't take hardly any time to start up, but for some reason if it had gone to sleep and then been woken then Steam In Home Streaming wouldn't work right until I fully rebooted the machine, and waking it and then rebooting it took even longer than starting it from a cold boot, so I was just shutting it down every time.
