  1. They're adults, all you can do is try to give them the information, you can't make them make good decisions. My wife is worried about her dad, who is in his early 70's, but doesn't seem to have any concerns whatsoever, and I keep telling her the same thing.
  2. Trial got moved to May. We figure by then either we'll already be through the worst of it, or we'll at least have a better idea of what is going on.
  3. Ori and the Will of the Wisps I absolutely loved Ori and the Blind Forest with all my heart, and this one is shaping up as a great follow-up. Got it through Gamepass, so bonus for it only costing $5. Actually less since I'm gong to play Halo Anniversary next. Fire Emblem: Three Houses: Cindered Shadows This one I am not liking as much, which makes me sad, since I absolutely loved FE3H. I didn't realize till after I bought it that the selling point was the difficulty, any while I'm not finding it too hard per se, it is a little tedious. The battles just go on and on. I'm only on the third one though, so I'm hoping it gets better.
  4. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE Encore I played the original on the Wii U and really liked it, so when they released an expanded version for the Switch I had to. I actually think I liked it even more this time, which surprises me.
  5. This post has aged poorly. What I didn't understand at the time is that even though yes, it's basically a slightly-worse flu, the main difference is that only a small fraction of the total population gets the flu in any given year, whereas estimates are that 70% of the population will catch coronavirus, so the "slightly worse" death rate means between 1-5 million people are likely to die in the US alone, and between 25-125 million world wide. And that's assuming the medical system remains basically functional. That's insane.
  6. I have a jury trial scheduled to start on the 23rd, yesterday our judge said he was still planning to go ahead unless we get a case in the county, or the governor declares a state of emergency. Last night the first person in the state died from it, and the governor declared a state of emergency. Our final pretrial conference is in about half an hour, so I guess I'll find out what we're going to do. Ordinarily I wouldn't be horribly opposed to rescheduling it, but this is a child abuse case, and I have four doctors from out of town scheduled to come down to testify, and rescheduling with them is going to be a nightmare. Although I suppose even if we didn't reschedule the trial there's a good chance they will become unavailable anyway...
  7. I have a jury trial coming up not this Tuesday but the next, and we're wondering if will have to be postponed. Our judge said he would prefer not to, but if there's a presumptive case in our county, or if the governor declares a state of emergency (which there's rumors that she will) then he said he feels like he has to. Plenty of toilet paper in our stores though.
  8. My grandparents have a bunch of old home movies on VHS that I would like to convert to a more stable format, so I'm going to copy them to my computer and store them digitally.
  9. @CorgiShinobi Middleschool edgy is very on-brand for Sonic, so I think that's the right way to go. @MetalCaveman Yeah I remember when that game first came out, I installed a "duct tape" mod that let you use your flashlight and gun at the same time. ?
  10. I just saw that too. The obvious policy endorsement would be Sanders, but I also know there's some bad blood there, so that makes me a little nervous.
  11. Yeah, I saw that, which was disappointing, but then yesterday her campaign manager said she's meeting with her team to "asses the path forward" so hopefully she'll change her mind.
  12. Well, those results are disappointing. Warren was my candidate, but now I'm hoping she'll see the writing on the wall and get out, rather than keep splitting the progressive vote.
  13. I feel like it wouldn't be Sonic if the plot weren't Saturday-morning-cartoon-tier.
  14. How drastic are the changes from the original?
  15. Yeah, I said I hope the Dems will see they need to come farther to the left, and I do, but a less-good-but-still-better-than-now option would be the Dems continue to refuse to come to the left, end up dying as a party, and an actual left-wing party rise in their place.
  16. Because I think voting for them to defeat Trump would be winning the battle and losing the war. I'm sick of racist sexist billionaire assholes running everything, and I'm tired of "moderates" who value compromise in and of itself, without any regard for the actual effects of what they're doing. The Democratic party needs to swing hard to the left (to put it in perspective, they're our "liberal" option, and overall they're about on par with the Tories in terms of actual positions on issues), and that won't happen until they see they have to to win. So yes I think 4 more years under Trump would be worse than 4 years under any of those three candidates, but that keeps the party center-right in the long term. If they nominate a moderate, then I'll vote for a party that's farther left, and hopefully they'll see they left votes lying on the table, and maybe decide they should move that direction.
  17. Anyone who hasn't seen that original video really needs to. And yes, if Bloomberg gets the nomination I will be voting third party. Also probably if Biden does, and maybe if Buttigieg does.
  18. I mean, it's basically like a slightly-worse flu, it's not the end of the world. H1N1 that everyone was flipping out about like 10 years ago is now endemic worldwide and is just one of the normal flus that goes around periodically, and society has not ground to a halt.
  19. How can it possibly cost more grounded than in use?
  20. I don't know anything about Sonic Adventure, but I fucking loved Sonic Adventure 2 Battle on the Gamecube.
  21. What would it even be without cosmic horror? That'd be like Doom without the Hell portal or something.
  22. I'm a firm believer in buying last year's model of phone. It's already lost most of the "ooh shiny" price inflation, but you still get most of the usable life out of it. Same as how you wouldn't buy a brand new current-year car.
  23. I thought the dialog implies that he put down the load immediately before the conversation began... I agree they're pretty barebones, but think of how many of those they had to make, multiple ones for every single combination of side characters.
  24. There's a balance to be struck between caring enough to keep society from breaking down, and not stressing about it so much that it ruins your life. As an aside, my line of work encourages this really cynical attitude where I'm relieved when certain people die because it clears cases from my load. "Oh, he died, now I don't have to do that preliminary hearing next week, that's a relief, now I'll actually have time to prep for that jury trial in three weeks..." I always feel guilty about feeling that way, but it doesn't stop it from happening.
