  1. Turns out I may have trouble playing this online with you fine folks because I forgot the DS doesn't support modern password security for WLAN and thus can't connect to my bloody router.
  2. Oh god, so far back... I couldn't tell you which one, but it had to be one of the 90s PC wRPGs. I'd like to take this opportunity to once again point to Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines. So many choices of moral ambiguity, and most of them feel perfectly plausible within the context of that universe. It could work in any game with branching storylines. The Karma meter is bullshit. It completely undermines the whole point of a complex moral dilemma by telling the player which choice counts as the universally right one. Obsidian had the right idea with New Vegas when they toned the karma into the background and make which factions you were pissing off more important. I just wish they would have gone all the way and removed the karma entirely.
  3. 'Planescape: Torment' and 'Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines' are obligatory experiences for anyone interested in the topic. They just do it all too well. I feel moral choices are best when the game doesn't try to make a huge deal of them. Moral choices in real life doesn't come with five miles of foreshadowing, nor do they have clearly defined outcomes most of the time. As for if they are good or bad - what a question! The answer is of course that they are good in the kind of game where they fit. Moral choices wouldn't have improved Bulletstorm in any significant way, but removing them from Vampire would have left the game incredibly hollow.
  4. Everyone who knew about this band and never linked it to me? You're now on my shit-list. You can't NOT link this band to people.
  5. I disagree. For one, I think they actually need to A ) make the shooting fun in some way, perhaps by integrating it better with the running and jumping elements of the game or B ) remove it entirely. In addition, they could go ahead and revise the hand-to-hand combat quite a bit. While it was better than the shooting, it really did feel a bit stale. I think my favourite bit of the game was points at which I was being chased by an overwhelming force with no choice but to run, and no time to turn around and check how far ahead I was. Too bad it had very little of that :/
  6. While the feeling of most of the guns were very light, the bullets generally went where I pointed them and combined with the plasmids, the combat felt satisfying enough. Plus, it was refreshing to actually have most shoot-outs last for more than a fraction of a second again. Like in the olden days, before the semi-realistic military shooters came to power.
  7. Well, the ps2 sure as hell wasn't an indicator on the amount of amazing games for the ps3. That's not saying the ps3 has no good games, but it certainly wasn't comparable to the godlike level of the ps2. As far as I'm concerned, the DS has been this generation's ps2 when it comes to games. So much cool shit.
  8. D: I can think of quite a bit of first person shooters that do not trump Bioshock in gameplay. Every Call of Duty released after 4 The new Medal of Honor Etc.
  9. Make the same game again? What a waste of development time! If you want Mirror's Edge, go play Mirror's Edge. I want to see where DICE can take the concept!

    Nerd War!

Considering that RPGs are pretty much one of the most fun things you can do with a group of nerd-friends, why the hell would you be embarrassed to admit this?
  11. I'm still refusing to get that hyped about the 3D, because it's just like motion controls; will the games be there when the novelty wears off?
  12. I find it funny how many people on this forum have their gender set to "not telling" and then post their pictures anyway. Is it expected that we won't be able to tell? =D
  13. Hah. I'm not exactly playing pokémon competitively. Still, and I say this with sympathy towards you buyers, the pirates win again.
  14. I swear to god... Mirror's Edge 1 already tried to sell to a mass-market audience, this is nothing new to the series. Actually, you know what? This is true for EVERY mainstream AAA game. Can we please stop being upset over mainstream games with huge budgets trying to make some money? It's nothing new and it ain't gonna change. The indie crowd is over THAT WAY. I hear Dejobaan games are making a semi-sequel to A Reckless Disregard For Gravity with music generation. It's called 1, 2, 3, Kick It! (Drop That Beat Like An Ugly Baby) and it looks incredible. If you want more projects that just try to make a really cool game instead of making a boatload of money, that's where you should look. Raging every time the mainstream industry mentions money (by the way, no other entertainment industry is nearly as open to their fans about this sort of thing as gaming. Maybe we could show some appreciation for that instead?) won't change shit and it perpetuates the stereotype of gamers as entitled little children.
  15. HotChops to be perfectly honest the first paragraph that reply reads like you think everyone should just make the kind of games you like and leave behind everything you're not interested in. There's no reason every game, or even most games, has to be like Heavy Rain.
  16. Because asking if you're a boy or a girl wasn't enough suspension of disblief, Pokémon B/W takes the liberty of introducing the player to his/her two best friends in a completely fourth-wall breaking fashion!

  17. I'd liken DLC to accessories for other products. Some of these go on sale at pretty much the same time as the product they are for use with. For extreme examples, see iPhone and iPod accessories. I still stand by my earlier point that as long as the DLC is worth the asking price, it's very hard to make me give a shit about when it was produced. I do however agree about the pre-order DLC! It is indeed bull to ask customers to decide upon such an expensive purchase as a game long before they are able to try it out, and it is even more bull to make them decide between what store they want to buy from. Luckily most of the pre-order DLC so far has been pretty minor, so it hasn't really ever mattered to me.
  18. Aaaaand. Suddenly, my internal clock is set roughly to Swedish standards. Without trying. The fuck?

Sweden. The reason I'm annoyed is that I don't currently have any daytime obligations and most of the people I talk to on the internet are on between 5pm and 10am my time anyways. :P

    Nerd War!

I'd say playing DnD (or rather it's swedish cousin Drakar & Demoner (Dragons & Demons)) was the nerdiest thing I do, but unfortunately that doesn't happen often enough that I feel like I can list it. The people in my group is very scattered and some of them are very busy with schoolwork.
  20. The great slices of toast I could be having if I got my ass to the kitchen.
  21. There is pretty much not a single trade show I wouldn't love to attend. Funnily enough there is also pretty much not a single trade show I could afford to attend.
  22. Where's the "PC Gaming Master Race" option?
  23. Wait, you... You... TMs are no longer retarded?! AWESOME!
