  1. They are playable on the same rotation. Thank fuck for that! I was really worried they'd seperate them out. I think I'll head down to Excel's tomorrow and steal his PC for a bit to check out the new maps. I'm sure he won't mind.
  2. The big question: Are they playable on the same rotation as the release maps ala Northern Strike or do they need to be run as an exclusive rotation ala Vietnam?
  3. Just picked this up down in HMV. Have yet to try it ot but considering that the demo of last year's one is the only thing I spent any length of time using the move with, I figured now, when I can't play my PC, would be a good time to pick it up.
  4. I recall getting into a heated debate on kotaku over that with me foolishly insisting that it's Haitch not aitch. Then having to back away slowly with my tail between the legs when I found out it was just an oddity of hiberno-english. It's still haitch to me, goddamnit!
  5. All I can think when i see that screenshot is "Oh wow! they actually fixed the chatbox just how I wanted it!" I want to play BF3 again!
  6. I missed out on all this discussion but I think it's important to distnguish between CDProjekt and CDProjekt RED. The latter is the development studio while the former is upper management. CDPR were the ones that make the decision to get rid of securom and after they did, without informing Bandai Namco that they were going to do that, CDProjekt, the upper management, had to step in and make amends. This is really what this is here. Bandai Namco got scared at the thought of no DRM across all versions and backed CDProjekt into a corner. Backtracking and adding bac in the securom protection wasn't going to work so what alternative are they left with? Regardless of our views on copyright, piracy, etc, I think we all have to accept the fact that businesses DO have a vested interest in protecting their copyright, or at the least, being seen to do so. I have to agree with the others here in thinking that denying money to the developers that you've said yourself you felt they deserved until this point seems to be scraping the barrell for reasons not to hand over money for the game. By now, people have had enough time to decide whether or not the game was worth their money. Although what CDP is doing is heavy-handed, it's not entirely unmeritted and regardless of that, it's something that plenty of recording companies, movie studios, etc have done - and at much greater levels. Considering all that, I don't see the justification for denying CDPR the money that they deserve. A line has to be drawn somewhere in regards to piracy. You can't use practices you don't agree with to always make a case for piracy. Sometimes, like in life, you've just got to take the good with the bad.
  7. What are you throwing everything into? Magic? You're going to get shot in the knee one of these days!
  8. I think I just found the case for my new Pc: http://www.techspot.com/review/461-cooler-master-storm-trooper/

  9. Hahaha! A similar thing happened to me when I accidentally fried my old processor by not getting a good thermal connection between it and the heatsink; I'd been wanting to upgrade, and that gave me the excuse I needed. I think I was less upset than most people would have been. If the CPU is the cause of the problem, that may be the very reason it went! Stupid plastic piece of shit pins! Easy and trouble free, my arse! Screws are easy and trouble free! AND MORE DURABLE! Sorry, I just really hate those plastic pins.
  10. I know the feeling. Having helped Excel and another friend get their PC's up and going lately, I've been jonesing to build a new system myself. Thankfully (or not), my PC not posting means I'm forced to put my plans into action sooner rather than later. Best of luck with the build, Duke.
  11. PC has decided to stop posting all together so I won't be around for a while. Have a laptop here for now but for how long, I don't know.

Ohhh my... I lost a Dell XPS 710 that way about a year ago. Not much to do apart from reinstalling the RAM, reconnecting the power supply, then if those fail, reseating the CPU. Saved a system many years ago like that where the BIOS was in a socket, but most seem soldered-down these days.

    3. WTF

      WTF

sounds like MB failure most likely, more than RAM though it could be RAM too. I hate it when that happens even more than when a PSU smokes out. However a few kicks and installing an older os can make it last for a month longer before total failure. I hated that month when i was using win ME -.-

It ain't the RAM, that's been tested. Brought the list down to the mobo (most likely), PSU and possibly the CPU but not a reseating issue. After 4 years and nearly being always on, I was expecting something to go soon. I just hoped it'd hold out until I had a new system going.

  12. I got this today for PC. Won't be playing it for a while, I think. Have a problem with stuttering sound during the FMVs, apparently it's widespread too. So yeah, can't wait to play it....but I will, because I'm not suffering through this problem. Also, apparently DX11 is FUBAR until a patch hits as well. So much for that delay, eh?
  13. That's basically how I've been going about it but it still seems a lot slower than the smithing to level up in. Ah well, I'm half-way there! I may start going through some of the main quests though. I'm nearly level 40 and havne't got even a third of the main quest done.
  14. And Ireland is stuck right in the middle, sharing both US and UK colloquialisms - we use both mee-thane and meh-thane, so much so that I couldn't tell ya which one I use more. Potayto, Potahto is a different matter. It's either a Potayto or a spud.
  15. Sorry, in no way were you right. Mel-ee just sounds dumb. May-lay is using the French style, but I don't mind mel-ay. Either way, I am probably most fussy about the fact that there is originally an é, so the end takes on an 'ay' sound. One thing I thought was clever is that Segway uses the actual pronunciation of segue, and it is a way of getting from one point to another, smoothly. Meh-ley/Mel-ee is the French way. May-lay is the Anglicized/Americanized version. - http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/m%C3%AAl%C3%A9e#French It's only since reading A Song of Ice and Fire that I've become accustomed to hearing may-lay.
  16. One of my favourite dishes to make is a Tuna and crab meat pasta dish. It can be done both on the cheap using tinned and packet sauces or made with fresh ingredients and it's great either way. Cheap version: 3 puck-sized cans of Tuna 1 puck-sized can of white crab meat A packet of Tuna Napolitana sauce Tomato Purée Cheese of your choice Onion Pasta. Make up the sauce from the packet Boil the pasta in water with some olive oil Dice an onion Use cheese and purée to thicken and flavour the sauce to your preference Add a dash of white pepper Let the sauce get hot Stir in the onion Stir in the tuna and crabmeat, breaking it up so it's not in big chunks Remove from heat, drain the pasta Serve on a plate with a garnish of cheese. It's quick and easy. The fresh version is essentially the same except you're making the Napolitana sauce yourself (basically a tomato and herb sauce - Oregano and rosemary work well), using freshly blended tomatoes, chopping up the meat, etc. It also works well as a pasta bake, just make sure the sauce is good and thick.
  17. You mean you didn't smith a billion iron daggers like everyone else did? O_o I did that too but getting all that iron was getting annoying so I stopped. Most of my smithing skill was actually raised with just me smithing stuff to sell or use. I wouldn't mind finding a similar trick for fast-levelling enchanting though, I want the best enchantments I can get on my Ebony Armour!
  18. Guy comes onto Battlelog, makes thread crying about disallowed program kick by Punkbuster. Dude's stats totally show him up as a hacker. Oh and his name is MiniGHax. Talk about a high IQ!

  19. Today, I went down into the dwarven ruins at Markarth. A couple of hours later and far too overencumbered, I've got nearly 200 Dwarven Metal Ingots. I made a fortune AND got my smithing skill just about maxed out!
  20. Stock balancer doesn't work properly. Or sometimes doesn't work at all. I want something that makes VIPs immune to balance. That'd be insane balancer for Procon. You can have a whitelist for it on top of setting different terms for the balancing like keep squads together, keep clans together, sort based on SPM, sort based on KDR, sort based on score, etc. We currently have it set to balance by SPM, squads and clans not staying together. We had it that it kept squads and clans together initially but the teams kept getting stacked more often than not and the server would start to empty so we just disabled those and now it does a good shuffle and the server's health has benefited from it.
  21. http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/24/ubisoft-i-am-alive-skipping-pc-because-its-not-worth-it/ Ubisoft can bite my big hairy arse. Fuck you too, Ubisoft.

So basically, Valve is really good at predicting future gaming trends (digital distribution), and Ubisoft is really terrible at it (DRM and now this). Sounds about right.

Surprise, Ubi, you get shitty PC sales when you do things to piss off PC gamers.

  22. Ha! We've been using the insane balancer plugin for procon. It's not perfect but seems a lot better than the stock balancer.
  23. I'm reading through Necronomicon at the moment - it's a collection of some of the more popular H.P Lovecraft stories and it's huge. I'm currently reading Rats in the Walls in it. It can be jarring at times reading through it as the time gap means there's some things you wouldn't find in a book written today - like a cat named nigger-man.
  24. I wouldn't call it the book of the decade but I really enjoyed reading through The Last Wish - the first book in The Witcher series. It's a quick and fun read and provides a greater insight into Geralt and the world he inhabits. Definitely worth checking out if you're a fan of the games.
  25. A level of integrity on their forums? Have they read the battlelog forums lately? Filled with asshats that would be better off banned from it.
