  1. I've already got characters in all three games, but I'm willing to dust them off/create new ones to join the group. Or probably just dust off, in the case of Champions. The two character free limit makes me sad.
  2. As much as the gameplay was flawed, I think that the engine in FC2 was rather magnificent. It handled open world very well.
  3. I wonder if there will be a day/night sequence? I always traveled during the night in Far Cry 2 to avoid conflict as much as possible, and it would be nice to do the same in FC3. Coupled with the new melee kill sequences that might actually make it all the more worth it.
  4. A dispatch to every monster in the Guild Wars universe...

Why are you so hard to kill? -_-

My roommate is a Guild Wars player.

I forgot how long he spent Roller Beetle Racing just to get a title.

      What?

      Aw crap.

  5. Offroading is pretty horrible in Far Cry 2. There's so many damn rocks off the beaten path that my general choice of traveling in the late game was to just walk along the road until some stupid patrol came, blew up one jeep, and jacked the other (not that it did much good to my health). And that's assuming they came in groups of two. If I do recall, there were also one car patrols, which made things a fair bit easier. Driving around the checkpoints, well. Achievable at some, particularly crossroads, but for most of them you're between a rock and a hard place, literally.
  6. 'Cause they're my roads. Why can't I use my roads? How dare they set up checkpoints on MY roads.
  7. Yea. The amount of energy you get per day in Spiral Knights is only good for roughly 1.5 runs into a dungeon on average, assuming you're going from one rest point to another within a dungeon. It's good for burst play, but if you're looking for something consistent Spiral Knights is probably not a good idea. Also, crafting takes up 50 energy, which is basically half of an entire day's supply, which is very costly in terms of time and resources (not to mention you need to run the dungeons to get the items needed to craft).
  8. I think the antagonist in the Far Cry 3 reveal is... how should I say... He seems like a very exaggerated and overtly annoying man who will probably not put up much of a fight (my suspicion is that he'll be a "run away" sort of character). It really seems like they're stretching his personality and dialogue, and I personally found his monologue boring, uninteresting, and overall very obnoxious. It's the same sort of feeling I get when people attempt to be philosophical when they know nothing about it. I don't know much about being philosophical either, but it's not hard to see when someone falls flat on their face trying.
  9. It annoys me because 47 was the face of the Hitman series, in perhaps more than one way. Now they're writing off the original entirely. I understand that they'd need to make some changes, but I think that it was too much for them to replace Bateson. As far as I see, there really is no reason to replace him. =\
  10. JOURNALISTIC INTEGRITY GET.
  11. I got a level 40 archer in Champions Online, level 1x or 2x Behemoth as well. I also have a Paladin in DDO, but he's been untouched for at least a year. Spiral Knights doesn't allow enough activity to keep me interested, and I'm staying away from the FPS.
  12. Kane and Lynch? >_> I, uh, think I might be keeping an eye on Absolution. The fact that it's a bit more casual means it'll allow me to get into it a bit easier, but the fact it's made by the Kane and Lynch team, as well as the absence of David Bateson drives me away from it a bit.
  13. The main problem I have with things like Last Pass, and similarly Yant's description of XBL, is that you're basically putting all your eggs in one basket. I have multiple accounts for a reason.
  14. If that's really going to be the case, how much is he going to charge per update?
  15. Anyone want to explain this game to me? I was considering buying a 4-pack on Steam and handing a code to someone, if it piqued enough of my interest.
  16. Sounds pretty similar to DDO. They ran by an in-game currency system alongside real life transaction as well.
  17. How odd. According to environmental scientists, California just actually got out of a drought. I still haven't noticed anything different.
  18. I like Tron, but I find Olivia Wilde pretty "meh."
  19. So I just failed my discrete mathematics final. Hope the curve will save me. -_-

Every time I see "discrete" mathematics mentioned I want to make a really bad joke about mathematicians discretely doing math in public while pretending to, say, eat ice cream.

Computer science major? They didn't make me take that in engineering but they made me take other terrible things.

  20. Yea, it requires a lot of thinking to achieve Silent Assassin, but it's something I enjoy doing. A bit too much, I'd say.
  21. So I figured since Hitman: Absolution is on the table, why not start a discussion? I personally own Hitman: Blood Money, and I've enjoyed it quite thoroughly. I never thought it would be so enjoyable to engage in pre-meditated assassination, especially so in Vegas (which is my favorite level). So how about the rest of TAY? Any experiences with the Hitman series?
  22. Damn, just watched the gameplay video. It plays exactly like I thought it would, and it looks great.
  23. Do all universities have dial-up connections, or is it just mine? FFS, can't even load my email without some "unable to access server" or "please contact your network adminstrator" popping up every 15 seconds. I can't wait to go back to the 350 kb/s connection I have at home. At least i know it WORKS.

Many universities throttle their bandwidth way down. We had an awesome fiber connection but it was so throttled down that you were lucky to get a 2kbps download.

My uni has a reputation for having shitty network support. It was actually doing fine during September -> December, but after that everything went down the shithole.

  24. Gleaned from reddit.com/r/doctorwho: Place your bets, y'all! EDIT: Also, in response to the chart in deanb's post... if none of those work, go for the big guns and break out Blink. :U
  25. The problem a lot of people claim with the YouTube player in a map is bandwidth usage, as well as Minecraft performance in general. Having an actual video playing inside the game doesn't work so well for both the bandwidth and the machine, and I think the creator of the mod stated himself that the videos he had demoing there were on his machine, and had the search function pointed to localhost to prevent too much bandwidth usage. Interesting idea, but still needs some work. Watch as people Facebook from Minecraft. Fuck.
