finally replaced the built in Optane drive on my laptop with a proper SSD. Currently going through the fun process of moving my main drive over to this one. I also got myself one of these It's quite a bit bigger than I was expecting (but in a "reassuringly chunky" kind of way). Mainly got it for the cord labelling functionality - I have a lot of black power cables and HDMI leads I'd like to not have to trace every time.

Games You've Bought 2021 - Let's try this 20's thing again
deanb replied to TheMightyEthan's topic in General Gaming Chat
I got this, it was £23 so figured I'd bite the bullet. Not sure when I'll get around to actually playing it given I'm currently in CP2077 How much was the adapter? Mine is just sat in my PSVR case (incidentally the Amazon Basics PSVR case is nice if you want to store the PSVR or for taking around to others houses). I can't remember how long between me ordering it and receiving it - wasn't like a regular order so no tracking. Just one day had a person at the door with a delivery. -
A video about the bottles in Half Life Alyx with the actual liquid in that kind of wowed everyone.

https://he.net/3d-map/ This is a kind of neat interactive map of the series of tubes that make up the net.

Display Port is a thing and there are 4K 240hz monitors. Someone has pointed out it's an Intel NUC in a custom case.

Happiest Season I'm not one for romcoms but this was quite sweet. Not too far off the usual tropes but with an LGBT focus that adds a new twist to it. Also quite funny (Dan Levy doing a lot of the work in that region). Solid cast. Worth a watch if you want to give a new xmas film a spin.

I did see a tweet a couple weeks back with Malcolm from Jurassic park but captioned with "you do plan to have spider-man in your spider-man film right?" On one hand I'm quite excited - Molina as Doc Ock was great. But yes on the other hand I'm flashing back to Venom and Sandman and Green Goblin in Spider-man 3. But on the other hand we have recently had Spider-verse with 7 Spider-men/girl/pigs in and Infinity War/Endgame with a bunch of heroes in it too and those were great. So it is doable. It's entirely possible they're just there for a few instances. Last film had JK Simmons in but only for a couple minutes tops. I also have counted and I appear to have at least three hands. I am this guy

There's an option at the start. You can either pick default or big. I think the American version of the game does cut a bit off though.

I saw this n though of you guys. -
Oh poop. I forgot about Genshin. Yeah that game is pretty great for being free.

Of the games I've played from this year Ghost of Tsushima definitely ranks up there. Wasn't really huge on my radar until like a few weeks before release. I remember there was a particular gameplay trailer/walkthrough they put out that just totally sold me on it. Honourable mention It came out this year. I'm surprised none of you have put Animal Crossing - that was major big at the start of the year.

I guess people expecting it to run "surprisingly well". That's from their investor call too. I'm not sure what repercussions are for lying to investors (aside from the fact their share price nosedived after launch, though right after spiking up following the investor call). Yeah it's an open world but we've had plenty open-world games running on these systems (including Witcher 3 - which they even crammed that down to Switch). Given for much of its development PS5 and XSX wasn't a thing it's reasonable to assume that it would actually work on the current gen consoles. It should be "runs okay on PS4/XO but looks on PS5/XSX" rather than "runs dogshit on PS4/XO but as it should on PS5/XSX". My understanding is the actual native versions for next-gen aren't actually out yet either (I don't own a PS5 and didn't get this on console so haven't seen what was on sale in that area of things). They straight up admitted the other day they'd purposefully withheld PS4 and Xbox One gameplay and information which is a giant "eek". They then also gave people a week to refund the game which I'm fairly sure is against EU regulations (yeah I checked. 14 day return window with no justification and 2 year for faulty/mis-advertised goods). That entire tweet on Monday just screamed "Exhibit B" in whatever class action goes their way. I was looking at this thread thinking ""wait, I swear Corgi was the last post here when I made my post". I now have like 8 side-quests from her (I have completed one of them for her but funnily it wasn't one she'd asked me to do I just wandered into a dock and apparently I had a quest there from her). I'm now also getting other people phoning me up as if we have a long established relationship (and then they text me that they have a car to sell me). Which is a query actually - how are you guys making money? Like I'm being offered crap cars for €$14,000 but I've barely made that much even after selling a bunch of guns n gear. Side quests either don't pay or don't pay much, and computers with cash hack mini-games are pretty rare. It's a triple bummer because I got a "low risk" quest to get my car from the garage which turned into a "High danger" quest when getting in my car triggered it getting totalled. So now I just have a motorbike - no mobile stash and it carries on falling into gaps. (at least no one stands inside it :P).

How is everyone doing that got this? I've done the "get Keanu" mission. It took a fair while - it rail roads you quite a bit through the mission so what I planned to be a mission before bend ended up with my playing until 1am on the Sunday. I'm slowly getting into the swing of things and understanding what the game wants you to do (though it doesn't half throw a lot of things at you at once). Can't help but compare it with Deus Ex and it is a bit lacking in certain areas (there's not much scope so far for like going through the areas differently - such as unlocking doors or what not). So far I'd say it feels more like GTA type game with cyber-dystopia trappings. And as an open world it's a very pretty city with a lot of verticality. Bit of a shame from Witcher series having pretty solid story and missions that this feels a bit like it doesn't want to explain things (or forgot to). I'm a cops "best merc". But apart from her phoning me on the regular and so far dumping 4 side-quests on me I've never met her or actually done any work for her. I don't know if maybe something is missing or it's in one of the other starting missions (I went Nomad) where you meet her and they forgot that it's only like if you're Street Kid/Corpo that you get the introductory mission with the cop. Bug wise, it's 90% okay (I'm on PC). I get the occasional "Cyberpunk has flatlined" errors. Pre Patch 1.03 my guys head used to flop into his chest - which made movement a bit of a pain :P. He's also bald in the mirrors (though post 1.03 he now gets a brief flicker of hair before it unloads). Plenty civilians can phase through vehicles but that's not particularly game breaking. Textures and models not loading is quite fun. I found out what I thought was a pretty fun billboard poster was literally an error saying that world textures weren't loading (which is one issue with the bugs - where you have a game with purposeful glitch effects it can be hard at times to tell if something is a bug or on purpose). I got a GOG version of the game - this is my first "proper" game with GOG Galaxy (so far I've mostly used it for it's ability to combine services). Their patching system is more efficient on the download front, but the need to then over write all the files doesn't half hammer your CPU and disk drive. Overall I'm having fun - not going to be taking up their refund offer. I know they've announced some 2 month plan - not had the time to read through that just yet.

Games You've Bought Episode MMXX: Revenge of the Backlog

I've got it on PC. Cheap though, so not sure if it'll arrive on the 10th. I'm off on 11th though; but not specially for this. -
I've seen them about online and they do look cool, but pricier than I'd get use out of them for. (especially when most my writing is for work and they pay for my notepads)

Got me some space wars VR and some Digimon (which according to the game clock I have played for 90hrs+ because it doesn't stop when my switch is asleep. this has some odd effects on my Digimon becoming quite strong the next day). Looking forward to throwing up on my PSVR -
This looks neat. Mads, Holland and Ridley seems like a cool trio. I believe this was actually made a bit ago but ended up in some weird limbo of release.

Y'all need faster ballot counters. If you can't make a choice before we wake up in the morning we're making the choice for you and you're getting a Queen again.

I would guess they're not going to be a "move" like in the earlier games and more like the limit-break style you get in most recent FFX onward titles (not that FFX is recent anymore....*) where it becomes the dominant PC. The world is sounding quite FFXII/Ivalice type place but this time you'll maybe actually get more of the nations in the game than just references and border skirmishes. * (and yes the person said they were rounding a bit for dramatic effect)
