  1. Honestly they're a fab investment (though I'd be a bit wary on getting a "NAS hard drive", esp atm). I've got one, and been able to access media files from my main tower, my phone, my laptop, login remotely. If I can be bothered to set up it can sync with cloud services too so I've a back-up-back-up. Also not just a shell for hard drives, they do have actual processors and RAM inside. Mine is a quad-core intel celeron based one. On a regular PC it'd be shit but it's enough for the web interface, some automated services and transcoding media. And if you've just got an old PC you can convert that to a NAS with free-nas (though I'd wager might be a bit power-hungry given your old PC likely an ex gaming PC)

So, there's rumours Kim Jong Un is dead. That bleach cure really isn't great, huh.
  3. I'm down for stuff tonight. Tomorrow evening I should also be fine (though due a white goods delivery at some point). Down for either some 3-player Red War campaign (Ethan and I have held off touching that until we get you on, since you're new to it), or some 6-player MP like Gambit or Crucible. We can all suck together. If looking to do large group then then CAH might be ideal (plus tbh I've not played CAH in months, and kinda miss it a bit).

Yes. Though the person that started the fateful thread lives in a town centre flat so no garden out back and going out means directly heading through the town centre. On the plus side she hasn't had to complain about the loud music from the pub next door for the last few weeks. I think the protests around the US are the inability for people to consolidate their own actions of constantly voting for corrupt republican buffoons with the fact they're now feeling the consequences of putting those people in power. The negative stuff was meant to happen to the others. It's easy for preppers to be all big and talk tall when they know there's nothing on the horizon (at least for them) and really it's power fantasy role-play but when it's suddenly there they shit the bed. It's realising that shitty healthcare is shitty, that stripping back the social security net to keep it from them for'ners means it gets pulled back for them too. Plus Trump is clearly riling up people against blue and swing states. Making sure that they're stripped of any resources, while using the opportunity to consolidate power base and throw trillions at corporate partners. Sounds very similar to us. Constantly getting caught out in lies that we "missed out" on a joint EU scheme when government skipped on it because of brexit-y reasons. Now it's come out that the private corp hired to do some of the testing has lost a bunch of NHS staffs test results even though really testing should be done by the NHS (but our party wants to slowly strip out NHS to private firms even though that fucks up almost every step.

Had my first interaction with a slightly crazy person today when commenting on a friends FB post. Complaints about lack of sun access and the recommendation from Public Health England to take Vitamin D. I had to try and convince them to not expose themselves to germicidal UV as a sunlight alternative (it'll kill viruses sure, but if you're in the room with one turned on it'll quickly make you smell like nicely done pork, and turn your eyeball to sandpaper).
  7. That is a perfectly valid life choice. I had a crack at the Gambits thing last night. So it's two teams, playing independent of each other (mostly*) against mobs of PvE enemies which drop "motes". You pick up the motes, make your way (avoiding fire, or you lose your motes) to bank them at a glowing Taken urn thing, which eventually releases a Primordial (or something like that), basically a boss which you have to kill before the other team summons and kills theirs. *the opposing team can occasionally invade and kill your guys. Opposing team can also send "blockers" which guard your bank/urn until you've killed them all off. It's not too bad, it's like co-op competitive. And with the motes thing you can be more valuable even if you're not a great shot as long as you can dip duck and dive.
  8. I am down for some Destiny tonight.
  9. You posted this at 12am (midnight) my time so now I'm not sure if "tomorrow" is Wednesday or Thursday At the moment I'm just popping on to do the "New Light" stuff which is mainly just tutorial type stuff, no structure missions just "talk to Shaxx" "Do a crucible" "Do a bounty".
  10. Not super sure at this point. Just know you get a snazzy cloak.
  11. The "Guardian Games" event has started too, so might be worth hoping on to work through that. At the bare minimum you get a snazzy cloak.
  12. I was looking at the "Steam Remote Play" thing earlier as well which lets you play couch co-op games over the net (so like Human Fall Flat, or Gang Beasts and such). I think the game needs to have been updated to support it, so I'll have to delve a bit deeper. But yeah, couple Jackbox games on something portable like a laptop or Switch is fab to have as you can hook it up to a TV and as long as everyone has a phone or tablet they can play. Majority scale up to 8 players which is usually more than most consoles will support on controllers (and even if they do that's £400 worth of controllers). I'll usually have Fibbage on over xmas or other large gatherings (I imagine for you guys that would include Thanksgiving too). Currently on sale on Switch https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Games/Nintendo-Switch-download-software/The-Jackbox-Party-Pack-2-1252975.html (does mean no/difficult online streaming) (also in bundle on sale on Steam, but like it's a bundle of the bundles so minimum spend of £45 https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/1792/The_Jackbox_Party_Trilogy/ ) Wouldn't mind giving the CAH a shot. My only major issue with the streaming was it put voice and game audio at pretty much same level regardless of the Windows mixers and I could have done with voice taking precedence. CAH can last a bit longer per round too (though Jackbbox with shorter rounds does make it easier to drop in and out).
  13. We're up on Discord streaming Jackbox if folks want to join in.

Well today the Scum just ran a front page article on "pubs won't be open until Christmas" (with tiny "596 dead, more on page 4"). Given they're a murdoch rag no doubt trying to incite some kind of protest against the lockdown. Probably something from Tim Martin (runs the largest chain of pubs in the UK, was already against closures before they happened, and against paying staff if they had to close).
  15. Ethan has also suggested Cards Against Humanity, which could be fun and scales up a decent amount. Seems we'd go with this one: https://allbad.cards/ which is made by a bungie developer (hence the discussion from Destiny) I don't know if there's a good time for everyone? Destiny we've usually been doing at 7:30pm British summer time, but I think that's mid-day in american-times which is more suitable for weekends. https://www.thetimezoneconverter.com/

https://archive.is/20200418182037/https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/news/coronavirus-38-days-when-britain-sleepwalked-into-disaster-hq3b9tlgh A decent read on some of the early (and ongoing) failures of the UK government. (it was behind a paywall, but really shouldn't given it's quite a key document). People are talking like we'll be wrapping up this lockdown in three weeks, but it's likely to be months and I think our government is just either afraid of the backlash of suggesting it (saying "three weeks" every few weeks for three months gets a bit less ire than "three months" right at the get go) or just totally clueless of what it will take. Given there's no reasonable increase in production of either PPE, test kits, or ventilators I doubt we're going to be out of it anytime soon. If the lock down lifts in three weeks as suggested it's going to skyrocket in cases and deaths. We are also now more than two weeks into having no PM, which is rather alarming that we're not treating that as quite concerning at this point. We've no head of government to lead efforts and no parliament to scrutinise the efforts that are happening. It's a grand old failure of the system.
  17. I could run some Jackbox if it's as simple as jamming it up on Discord. I have Jackbox 1 through 4 on Steam, and they obviously scale quite well. tbh on the Borderlands 3 front even cheap I'd rather not divert funds to Gearbox until Pitchford is gone.
  18. I now have one of each (there's three slots so might as well). My main is a Warlock cos..well ?
  19. Yeah, while investigating what the "New Light" changes were I did come across an article bemoaning that the F2P changes have been made more to speed up making a new character than to introduce new players to the universe and lore. Defo down for setting aside time tonight to maybe crack through a bit of Red War(OG campaign)?
  20. Cools. well I might be ready in time Also done the character transfer. Will be starting fresh but handy to shunt things over. What voice chat people want to use? (I haven't voice chatted on PC in a long while and all my recent stuff has been MS Teams or Google Meets which are highly inappropriate gaming platforms). I guess there's always Discord. I know there's the PXoD chat, which in retrospect I should have been into these past few weeks.
  21. None of you have a standard phone headset with in-line mic? Any who downloading Destiny 2 atm, because turns out I own it on PS4. Also it's not a Battle.net thing anymore so I had to find out where it is now (it's on Steam). I can't remember if you can do the start as several people or play it through to a set point before joining up.
