  1. 2D side scrollers are just as old if not older. Sports just as much too. Up to now that's the only argument I'm hearing against TB-RPGs is they're an old genre. Pretty silly reason if you ask me.
  2. Scotland and Northern England? No one ever compliments those. Doctor Who is Welsh, Primeval is Pinewood and the south, Misfits in London, Red Dwarf in I dunno. There's not much UK sci-fi I can think of. At least recent.
  3. You may be aware and actually taking a very subtle dig at game critics, but I think for the most part when we say they don't get stick we're talking from critics not the kids. Most critics tend to review a game as if it was made for them and generally disregard intended audience so I doubt they'd review it as if aimed at kids.
  4. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGOrywOJDfg There should be more battles like this. There's the Quiz Master too which I thought was neat.

Life is a box. Think outside it.

  7. See I dislike this one. Just cos the system was made for limited hardware doesn't mean that now the hardware is much stronger we should drop it. Same could be said for 2D platformers. It's still an alright genre. It's not like the games are made still using sprites, it has kept up with current technology. Not played Uncharted 2 to the end?
  8. Free books for Kindle? There's tons in the public domain. I grabbed a few for the Kindle App on my phone before realising that a 3" screen (or however big it is) isn't the best place to read em. So we're talking Frankenstein, Aesop's Fables, Sleepy Hollow, Grimm's Fairy Tales, Dorian Gray, Alice in Wonderland.. The old classics. Back when vampires didn't sparkle but lived in Whitby. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Legend-Sleepy-Hollow-ebook/dp/B000JQUJHO/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Frankenstein-ebook/dp/B000JQUZCI/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Picture-Dorian-Gray-ebook/dp/B000JQU4TW/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dracula-ebook/dp/B000JQUBRM/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grimms-Fairy-Stories-ebook/dp/B000JML1QG/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Adventures-Robin-Hood-ebook/dp/B000JQV5GI/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gullivers-Travels-ebook/dp/B000JQUZ3W/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Jungle-Book-ebook/dp/B000JQU7JO/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alices-Adventures-in-Wonderland-ebook/dp/B000JQV3QA/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Treasure-Island-ebook/dp/B000JML7EC/ http://www.amazon.co.uk/Oliver-Twist-ebook/dp/B000JQUT8S/ These are on the UK site but you can more than likely find them on the US site too. Oh there's stuff like origin of species, works of Da Vinci, Theory of Relativity, History of England, etc. And as mentioned these are all free to anyone with the Kindle App, available for Android, iPhone, iPod, iPad, and PC.
  9. Until you realise there's 50 countries in Europe and that only covers a dozen. It's more than the usual US/NA, but it's still amazing how with all our advanced technology we seem to be unable to pass through the forceshield surrounding part of the world.
  10. Thing is some companies established just as long get slated too. Square for example do the same thing, being around just as long. And have many loved games. XII, XIII n XIV have been slated. Though as I said, Biowares magic touch is fading a bit too, DA2 got a mostly warm reception, but there's a few sites running more in-depth post release reviews on "what went wrong".
  11. http://irrationalgames.com/insider/name-in-the-game/ Get your name in Bioshock Infinite.
  12. Meh, Bioware (to a degree, the magic is wearing off, and right before a MMO too) have the same knack as nintendo. Manage to recycle games with a few tweaks here n there and get massive praise for it. It's a rare trait that I imagine many developers are constantly raking their brains trying to figure out what Factor X it is that allows this to happen.
  13. Oh it's only for 5 more days unless you start fucking about with the main title too. tbh I should have done it a while ago.
  14. Yeah at the moment it's just a case of time, we normally do do meal for each other every now n then. Come summer it'll be back to normal on things like that.
  15. I'm not much of a soup maker but I guess bones won't take up much room in a freezer (though maybe freak out housemates) A stew/casserole approach I think is for if I would be cooking for entire house, maybe in the future.
  16. Though I'm unsure if this is ME1, ME2 or both. Cos I'm sure in ME2 they tweaked a fair bit on Earth already. Cos I'm sure ME1 implied it was a shithole, then ME2 kinda pulled back the reigns on that, maybe in response to future plans for ME3.
  17. From what I understood of the codex entry the gap wasn't between classes in individual nations, but that the gap was between the "advanced nations" n "less fortunate regions" Which sounds like a 1st n 3rd world gap than a class gap. edit: also I'm pretty sure that the 2 metre sea rise means that the ME3 trailer is missing substantial amounts of Thames/North Sea from it.
  18. My mum bought me some chicken thighs. Now the current thinking is to put some spices n herbs on it, bit of salt on the skin, maybe steal some of my housemates peri peri sauce (I'm not sure we still have some Reggae sauce. heck maybe Lea n Perrins might work on chicken as much as it does beef). And have it along side some chips or something. But I'm open to ideas and recipes n such. As long as it can be done with regular kitchen materials and no breaking the bank. I've got three portions so I can experiment. Maybe do my original plan today, and your lots ideas later.
  19. £19 from HMV, so you can probably pick them up cheaper online. Yep they're £5 cheaper: http://hmv.com/hmvweb/displayProductDetails.do?ctx=280;-1;-1;-1;-1&sku=436985 (though not in my colour) I'm not much of an audiophile, but I find £20-£30 to be an okay price. These are my first skull candy, but I'm a fan of Sony headphones.
  20. I lost part of my earphones yesterday, then forgot them at home anyway, so I bought some more today (being meaning to for a while) Picked up these, just in gunmetal colour instead. They're not too bad but I've yet to put them through any rigorous use, just a brief part of the stroll home wit the default buds. Not sure if I'm keen on the embossed skull candy on the buds though, does help with grip I guess, but makes it harder to pull em out your ear when you're done.
  21. Yeah, didn't the codex in ME1 state that earth was an industrialised shit hole that humans quite happily fled from to other colonies once the charon relay was found? edit: nevermind. Seems Earth is a paradise. Unless you live in Africa in which case yeah it's a shithole. Also some shitty weather (so I guess not a paradise?), and you can't fly through the atmosphere. It's kinda curious that China and Russia are under represented in ME considering current developments n such. Was it ever stated which nation/company found the Prothean cache? edit 2: Mars was colonised by Europe first with US n China following a decade later. Prothean cache was translated via "global effort" (I'm only asking cos of recent Firelfy viewing and the heavy focus on China there as one of the main original nations)
  22. Many? Next new game for me is Portal 2. I plan to play that.
  23. Woot. Sounds like they realised ME2 went a bit too far in the stripped down route. Wonder if they'll bring back the mako as part of this u-turn.
