  1. I am paranoid about my iPad shipping. I keep refreshing every hour, and it still hasn't left Pennsylvania for Oklahoma. It's supposed to be here Wednesday night at 7:20. I'm probably flipping out over nothing, but the suspense is killing me.

      Apple is shipping it. Refurb.

Seriously? Why not just wait till the iPad 2 is out and get a bigger price drop? Or better yet wait till September-ish for iPad 3?

Because iPad 3 won't be happening in September, because I don't need cameras or a dual core, and because it was the only bargain I could strike with my parents.

  2. Everyone can beat up Johnny Cage. That guy's like a running gag. In almost every MK cutscene, and the live action short that went up last year, dude's getting the shit beaten out of him/murdered.
  3. Also, I had no problems with Shadow of the Colossus. It's probably due to the heroic music they play every time you get to the top. EDIT: I think I also speak for all the Killzone fans when I say "Fuck you, Rico!"
  4. This list may be slightly spoilerific, so don't read anything but the opening sentence for each line if you don't want ruination. I welled up with tears during the opening for Heavy Rain. Also, Metal Gear Solid 4 really got to me. By far, the most emotionally-driven game for me was The Darkness (strange choice, I know).
  5. I think I'm moving in on a refurb iPad today.

  6. I used to think console fanboys were childish. Now that I've skimmed comments of tech websites, I've discovered an even worse group; Android/Apple/Windows/RIM phone fanboys.

RIM are the company that make Blackberry.

I'll see your mobile platform fanboys and raise you Music nerds/fanboys. While youtube is no place to see the scale of immaturity. Check out how much musical tastes (which is supposed to unify people in a sense) can be divisive by just visiting music specialist sites.

  7. Saw Rango last night. It was surprisingly excellent. I'd say for the first time ever, Pixar has a tough act to follow this year.

  8. What I wouldn't give for a flatmate who enjoys fighting games like I do.

Which games do you play? On what console?

I play Street Fighter II. My copy of SSFIV is back home. Both are on 360.

If only 2DFighter online were still around. They set up a MAME emulator to run online so you could play all the MAME games against other people.

  9. I had to look him up on Google, but you're right, that's pretty uncanny.
  10. Just saw Fargo for the first time. Absolutely incredible movie.

I still need to see True Grit. Fargo is one of my favourite films of all time.

  11. iPad 2. I want an iPad 2. Give me an iPad 2.

  12. I thought it was supposed to be out THIS month? Damn. I pre-ordered the day pre-orders opened up, so I'm sure to get the first batch of controllers.
  13. Zork Nemesis: The Forbidden Lands is now on sale at GOG.com. If any of you have never played the game, your new assignment is to play the damn game. It has one of the best twists, and is an adventure game classic. It also gave me nightmares when I was a little lad.

  14. I know you're talking about Alienware specifically, but I just wanted to say that Dell in general (both their Alienware and vanilla departments) makes great laptops. I have an XPS Studio 16 I got just before the winter refresh, and I love it to death. I also previously had an Area 51 desktop which I also loved, and that only broke when I made the costly mistake of leaving it plugged into a traditional wall outlet during a storm. It was a real shame, too, as I had only finished installing a new CPU a month or two ago.
  15. Giant Bomb. They're the most transparent gaming site I've ever come across, and their staff members are equally hilarious and insightful. My favorite member of that site is a toss-up between Jeff Gerstmann and Ryan Davis (but Dave Snider is also excellent as the resident PC guru). My second favorite would be Game Informer, specifically Dan Ryckert. That guy is awesome.
  16. That really sucks. Are you American, or are you logging in from another country? I've heard that people from other countries had trouble logging in to download the service, so they used some sort of IP router to make the site think they were logging in from America.
  17. They definitely did. The service was bullshit when I did the beta over the summer. They're constantly adding data servers and features to the console server-side, so the experience has been improving for me almost on a month-to-month basis. It works really well now, and I can actually play some games like DiRT 2 with the same accuracy a normal console offers. They have some crazy things planned for the future. You can already watch OnLive games from your iPad/Xoom, but they're planning on doing much more than that later on this year. There will even be some games that release exclusively for OnLive, and a movie streaming service also on the way. It seems like the company makes quite the profit from the service; streaming high-quality video to the consumer is apparently dirt-cheap, and they get paid every time someone plays a free 30-minute trial for a specific game.
  18. If you get the console, you can set it to stream in 1080i/p. It also has 5.1 surround sound, and the built-in capabilities for Bluetooth and 3D that they're turn on server-side later on (5.1 is already available).
  19. I have the OnLive Microconsole and a few games for it. It works very well, and Just Cause 2 runs perfectly for me. I think the real test of its value will come when we go into the next line of consoles. Since OnLive is basically a streaming service, no further upgrades will be necessary. You can actually try it out for free and see how much you like it.
  20. That small box to the right of the 360 is OnLive.
  21. How do I upload a picture from my hard drive?
  22. Oklahoma is definitely the weirdest state I've ever lived in. A few days ago it was in the 70s, and now it is sprinkling snow.
