  1. Well, gaming has finally reached its pinnacle. We now have an ass-smacking game.
  2. I tried to switch over to Engadget to replace my Gizmodo-shaped hole, but I have yet to read an article there that didn't erupt into a fanboy war in the comments. Where have all the good tech blogs gone? Only Tested can fill my need for technology.

How about The Register and Ars Technica?

I go to Ars Technica, though they update kinda infrequently.

I didn't like Engadget. Like you said, the "community" there is shit and I'm interested more in technology, not just random gizmos (which makes up like 99% of their posts).

Engadget are really good at one thing - covering a vast amount of gadgets in a suitably gadget-nerdy way.

OF COURSE this attracts fanboys. :P

  3. GeoHotz is less than human. He is a disgusting creature that is only getting support because it may look bad for gamers if he loses. He doesn't care about your rights; he only cares about making stupid YouTube videos and taking credit for things he didn't do. He doesn't deserve to die, but I hope he loses everything. Maybe he'll think twice about his behavior.
  4. Rented it. First impressions; it's fun, as long as you mute it and remove the subtitles. It's not "charmingly" stupid, it's just "I want to set my speakers on fire to purge the stupid" stupid.
  5. Then I must really be terrible, because that giant boss at the end killed me.
  6. I loved the demo. The boss fight was tough as nails.
  7. Dragon Age II demo is awesome. I am so psyched for the full thing.

  8. I can't help but think that the majority of the sales Bulletstorm will get will be for the Gears 3 beta. I told one of my floormates about the beta included with the game, and said "I'm buying that." He's never even seen Bulletstorm. It's Crackdown all over again.

I think Bulletstorm will sell as is. Adding in the Gears demo is going to send sales into the stratosphere on 360

It would seriously be stupid to pay $60 for a multiplayer beta. Sorry.

      staySICK

I was stoked for Bulletstorm before they announced the Gears 3 tie in.

Hell, I enjoyed Crackdown regardless of its halo beta.

I say as long as the game itself is fun, any demo / "beta" access is just an added bonus.

  9. I got You Don't Know Jack. It is amazing.

Don't worry, if it turns out to not be true, I'm sure they'll type out an update like this:

UPDATE: It appears that this rumor story could be the National Enquirer throwing their credibility out the window. Gizmodo's decision to run rumors is always based on the credibility of the source and the information contained within it. In the past the National Enquirer has proven to be a reliable site, having broken a number of stories through apt reporting. It appears that...

HAHAHAHAHA. And yeah, of course they'll use tabloids as a source, it saves on them having to come up with the sensationalist angle.

Steve Jobs: Proof that no amount of money can undo all the crap drugs do to your body.

  10. Is anyone else suddenly having problems when using Kotaku with Ad Block Plus enabled? I can handle the redesign, but if they prevent me from viewing it ad-free, I'll really stop coming to the site.

    2. Mr. GOH!

      Mr. GOH!

The ads at the top of the touted left-hand stories column squishes it to a very short and annoyingly small height.

  11. I am so sick and tired of the "Singles Awareness Day" joke. It wasn't funny the first time, and you're not clever because you used a line thousands of equally unfunny people use.

Sorry, didn't notice you made it too. I just got through a few classes where at least one person said it every time.

If you don't want people to make stupid jokes on Valentine's Day, just get dumped a week beforehand. I haven't heard anyone even imply today is V-day in any of my classes...

  12. Saw the movie "Network" recently. Man, almost every scene in the movie has a memorable quote. "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not gonna take it anymore!"

    2. TheForgetfulBrain

      TheForgetfulBrain

I've heard a lot of good things about that/that film referenced very often - I need to watch it!

    3. Battra92

      Battra92

The big lesson of Network is that you can't trust the media. Turn on ABC/NBC/CBS/BBC/Al-Jazeera etc or watch any crappy movie and it's all the same shit. They just spin it to what they want you to believe.

  13. At CES this year, OnLive announced partnerships with several TV manufacturers. Pretty soon, the OnLive chipset will be installed in practically every TV. It only makes sense that Apple would also want in.
  14. It would be great if it started supporting OnLive. I've had the MicroConsole for a few months now, and I have to say, I really like it.
  15. Chrome for me. I used Firefox before, but as soon as I got my first taste of Chrome I jumped on that ship and haven't looked back. Now that Chrome has ABP I am the happiest camper in the world.
  16. For me, there is no alternative. Destructoid, Joystiq, IGN, and all those other sites have horrible writers. The one other site that has professional, journalistic qualities is Giant Bomb, and they don't exactly write a huge amount on their site every day. On Kotaku, I see articles that resemble proper, honest-to-God investigative journalism and interesting opinion pieces. Sure, it sucks that a portion of the community has left, but the articles have always been the most important part to me. The layout could be even worse, and I would still suffer through it to read the articles.
  17. I don't know about that. Everyone I've talked to (some were similar to the CoD gamers) knew that Guitar Hero wasn't being made by the same people anymore, and that those Guitar Hero people moved on to make Band Hero. Also, I hear plenty of Joe Schmoes name-dropping Treyarch and Infinity Ward. Before IW left, a friend's father asked me who was making the new Call of Duty game (it was World at War at the time). I told him it was Treyarch, and he expressed disappointment that "the good one won't be coming out this year".
  18. I have an exam in the morning, and my roommate has some woman giggling and moaning in his room all night long and into the morning. I can't sleep, because I'll sleep through my alarms and because this woman won't stop giggling and moaning. I don't care what he does with his life, but he's fucking up mine.

I'm bad with alarms myself, definetly tell him, if he's not a dick he'll understand and appreciate the fact your telling him. Also giggity

    3. TheForgetfulBrain

      TheForgetfulBrain

Download an alarm clock for your computer too, if you really need trustworthy ones for an exam or something, then set that on your computer and on your phone and on an actual alarm clock - then you should be good on alarms.

Retaliate with louder sounds of pleasure and awkward thumps in the room next to theirs.

  19. Destructoid is run by a bunch of lunatics, so I would stay away. That Jim Sterling is the biggest idiot on the Internet.
  20. I love the new Kotaku design. Much easier to navigate, and the galleries are now very pleasing.
  21. I love the new Kotaku design. It's a shame that so many people are throwing a temper tantrum on their site and threatening/promising to leave.

I fail to see why you love to give us your opinions in comments here, but do not comment on Kotaku. There must be something I am missing.

    3. Toshi

      Toshi

secondly, the biggest part of kotaku is the community. It is now a pain to comment and reply to other comments in the new kotaku. it might be great for someone who doesn't comment, but it's terrible for us. so yeah, stfu

    4. Showmeyomoves!

      Showmeyomoves!

Why don't we ALL 'stfu' together, as a team?

  22. I hate Michael Pachter. He makes all sorts of baseless hypothetical statements that never come true.
  23. I enjoyed the demo... until the characters opened their mouths. And then I wanted to set my 360 on fire to purge it.
