  1. Nope, but it does mention several things that were cut, and several small projects Valve worked on that found their way into Portal 2. For example, it talks about a small game designed by a team lead by Erik Wolpaw that directly inspired the co-operative mode. Also, a certain character and his love of space came from an ad about a goldfish wanting to visit an aquarium. One of the more interesting stories talked about the original plans for Cave Johnson that fell by the wayside. Originally, he was going to be a much more important character, and a direct antagonist to the player. The story would be focused on the dehumanization he experienced by transferring himself into an artificial intelligence, and turning the robots of Aperture against you.
  2. Reading "The Final Hours of Portal 2", There's tons of juicy tidbits in that article, including dashed plans for a prequel called "F-Stop" and behind-the-scenes information on the cast and crew that made the game.
  3. 0_0 So, does anyone else think that
  4. Swingers was far worse for the first few years after it was released. You had all kinds of douchebags acting like they were the characters from the movie.
  5. It pretty much created song-writing as a feature for a game. I think one of the best I've heard was "The Poet and the Muse" for Alan Wake, because it not only acted as a device to forward the plot; it emphasized the insanely tragic nature of the story.
  6. Here's hoping Valve releases more levels for the game like they did with Left 4 Dead/Team Fortress 2. And I'm also expecting great things from the community. I hate it when someone declares "Game of the Year" before the year's even halfway done, but in all honesty, I don't see how anything else could trump the sheer amount of joy this game gave me. Also, make J.K. Simmons the new Nolan North. He's awesome in every film/TV show/movie/game I've ever seen him in. Even when he's doing a bit part like in "Up in the Air", he steals the show for his 5 minutes. Also, does Erik Wolpaw have any novels? I would love to read/experience more of his writing.
  7. That co-op was fun! I need to study now for 2 exams, but I think I will do fine, and I'll be free tomorrow night to finish the campaign.

  8. I should be able to play again tomorrow night. Got 2 exams tomorrow that I need to study for.
  9. Let me know when you'll be online and I'd love to do it.
  10. How long is it? I heard it was longer than Portal 1, but I always like a second opinion.
  11. Just tested it, and it appears that it will work, so everything should be good for tonight. What time is optimal? 7 or 8 PM, or something sooner?
  12. Would a webcam mic or a microphone from the 360 controller connected to my PC work?
  13. Accepted. And yeah, tomorrow evening should be fine.
  14. I need help... Any help would be appreciated! EDIT: I included an image, just to show what I'm having trouble with.
  15. What's up with the Super 8 trailer in Portal 2?

No I just think it's the Super 8 trailer on it's own. No pixar stuff.

  16. On one hand, they never promised the game would be released early. On the other, I feel like they were playing games with my heart.

It IS being released early. About 8 hours to be exact. They never said it would be released DAYS early, which was apparently a popular assumption for some reason.

Eh, go have fun with Portal 2, I have to wait. Such a massive failure... such a sad note...

  17. Wow, the GLaDOS@Home page just got a lot more interesting. You can even see the G-Man...

Bottom-right corner. It's kind of hard to see, but it's slightly tilted.

Okay, now I see what you're referring to. That's been there from the start.

  18. OnLive is now officially available in the UK, in case anyone overseas was interested in using it.

  19. Do you guys play any Bad Company 2 on a regular basis? I haven't played in a long time, and I'd love to jump back in...
  20. Does anybody have a game that's like EVE but not as incredibly overwhelming? Something, shall I say, more casual? I've never played a game like that before but after looking a while it looks like there are several games of its kind. I'm wondering if there's a free one that doesn't require you quit your job to play it. There really isn't anything else out there like EVE. 90% of it is spreadsheets and mundane tasks. However, there is that 10% when someone will forcefully take over an entire corporation, when massive corporations engage in diplomatic warfare, or when the SA Goonfleet launch hundreds of smaller ships at your bigger ship, overwhelming you with unbeatable numbers. It's 10 hours of gametime, where 9 is the most boring thing in the world (Even EVE players can't stand the game sometimes) and the 10th is the most fascinating, unique experience you've ever had. Most people suffer through the 90% to get to that sweet 10%.
