  1. Just to throw in my two cents... I don't even know what I didn't like about Arkham Origins. Even if I took out the story and how unnecesary it felt, it just... Didn't match up for me. Maybe I was just sick of the same thing that the previous two games gave me since the combat was basically the same... I honestly don't know. I just know that I barely got through a quarter of it, I didn't enjoy it at all.
  2. Oh totally, I've seen few, if any, good examples of f2p done outside of Valve HQ. I've been told Path of Exile was good, but yeah. Yeah I feel like I'm missing out on Dota as well, especially when I saw just how many people were into The International in such a big way, I watched a couple of rounds of it and it looked mighty impressive but I just couldn't get into it myself. It's too intimidating really.
  3. F2P doesn't instantly switch me off... TF 2, although it started life as a paid game, is a wonderful f2p game so long as you don't care about the cosmetics and you find a server of nice, experienced people who are fun to play with... Dota, on the other hand, I've dipped into and again, I respect the business model and how wildly successful it is but I just cannot get into it.
  4. Honestly.. It's pretty hard to argue with. As I said in my last post, the level I'm on is tedious as all hell. He speaks about it in that piece. Wandering through identical levels of desert while trying to keep your party hydrated and well rested, but also meeting a deadline to find this one screen in a massive desert of screens. It's kind of nightmarish actually. Unlike the writer though I'm still plugging away at it. This one level is really testing my patience but it hasn't pushed it off the rails yet, I still want to see what the game holds. You aren't made to care for the characters all that much, and that's a shame, because when it comes to deciding whether or not to sacrifice them or not, it would make for a more interesting conflict if you actually cared. The more I think about it, the more it depresses me, to be honest. I am enjoying the game for what it is but the more I play of it the more disillusioned I'm getting, I suppose. Like I said, I intend to keep playing it, and I think I will finish it, but I can't imagine a world where I subject myself to it more than once, even for the sake of challenges like keeping everyone alive or whatever.
  5. Guh, if it is free to play I wonder what exactly it is they're going for. The theme at least looks intriguing and the horror elements seem interesting... So how will that fit into a F2P structure? Among those domains was indeed shadowrealmsf2p.com or something similar so it seems fairly conclusive.
  6. So I started the game... It's fucking hard as hell, firstly. I must have tried the first mission at least ten times and each try is fairly time consuming, and there's no checkpointing either. You spend half an hour on a mission and ultimately fail? You start again. I can kind of understand it because, to be honest, if you failed at the end, you probably failed in the middle somewhere and was never going to recover it, so checkpointing may not have been much help, but I won't lie, it can get very frustrating. This is culminating where I am at the minute. I'm on chapter five, I believe. I've tried it probably five or six times now. I don't want to give too much away but much like all the other scenarios, you're responsible for a group of people and you have to complete a certain task in a certain amount of time while keeping their needs at the top of your mind. Any number of things can happen which result in a failstate. Losing single members of your party luckily isn't one of them and is actually necessary if you stand any hope, I think. I'm probably wrong, though, maybe I'm too quick to put a bullet in my comrades. Anyway, I'm really enjoying it for what it is and I love the stats at the end, but people who were thinking they're going to be presented with a game full of open choices are not going to like it. There are plenty of choices in each singular level but they kind of exist in their own plane, they don't make a terrible amount of difference elsewhere in the game... From what I can tell so far, anyways. A lot of the time you're forced to make the difficult decisions. You probably can't go into a level and say "Right, no one in my team is going to die" because chances are they will and half the time you need it to happen for the greater survival of the team. It's very bleak and very interesting but I can tell some people will have a problem with the way those choices are presented to you. Anyway I'm giving it a break for now, I'm about at my wits end with the current mission. The biggest thing this game has going against it at the minute is that some of it is just too frustrating in parts. I want to keep playing it but I can't just keep throwing myself at it the way I have been doing, I need to regroup. The game requires patience that wears thin after so long of playing it, so past a certain point you just have to drop it for a little while. I do hope more of you pick it up though, so I'm not just in here talking to myself!
  7. Have EA said they're working on a MOBA yet? I'm trying to think who else is making one... So Blizzard/Activision have one... Gearbox are doing one, therefore: 2k... Dead Island is getting one, therefore... Deep Silver? I forget. Edit: Yeah EA have a MOBA in the works... Dawngate. http://www.ea.com/uk/dawngate So presumably this isn't one.
  8. If it is either of those things I will have immediately lost interest. I've never enjoyed a MOBA before (not that I've ever really tried, the barrier to entry on things like Dota and LOL these days is far too high) and F2P... Well we all know EA's track record with that particular venture.
  9. What makes you think they're related? Am I missing something? From the video description: Gamescom?
  10. I decided to just bite the bullet and order it from Amazon for £38. I have Prime so at least I know it'll be here on the day.
  11. I wonder if it's going to be another RPG or if they're going to tread into some different ground... It would be intersting to see them try something completely new, although I do love a good Bioware RPG. The trailer would seem to suggest it's set in a more present-day era though, so I wonder. Of course this is all speculation now, we basically know nothing and I'm willing to bet it won't be out till late 2015 at the earliest. They're just getting the hype train chugging!
  12. Huh. Looks interesting. I mean I'm not a fan of live-action trailers for games at all... But it's enough to know what Bioware's new IP is actually about. I'll be curious to see more. I'm a big Bioware fan despite their failings with some of their more recent games. I'll generally give them the benefit of the doubt though.
  13. So Alex Navarro of Giantbomb has posted his not quite review but opinionated recapping of the latest episode here. It's worth a read, he has some interesting opinions on why this episode wasn't so great. I don't necessarily agree with them (I thought it was a fairly good penultimate episode, if not quite leaving me in suspense as much as S01E04 did). The main bits to take away is he feels that Telltale are not doing as good a job on the "illusion of choice" front as they have been doing in the past, and that it is a lot more transparent just how meaningless your choices are in the grander scheme of things. He uses two notable examples; The thing about all this illusion of choice stuff is that they do need to at least make the dialogue slightly different to reflect on those choices. Something they've usually been pretty good about but who knows what happened there. Thoughts?
  14. Why is that? I wasn't expecting to see the dude in front of me vanish in front of my eyes when we entered one of the buildings.
  15. ...Jeez, I must have been real tired when I read that. Okay that makes more sense hahahah.
  16. I've not heard anything for us Brits... It's a bitter pill to swallow at the price... 38 gpb is good for a PS4 game, generally speaking but I paid that for the PS3 version not all that long ago... I'll probably still buy it.
  17. The trailer is pretty good but even with that, you can see where the plot is going a mile away.
  18. Yeah that feature is definitely there... The load times and things are atrocious mind you, but it's quite nice. Was there any news about an upgrade for PS3 players? I heard they were thinking about it?
  19. Yeah it's vanished. Just that he didn't feel welcome, some of us are xenophobic, says he may come back at some point or another. Keeping this post on topic: Batman.
  20. I've got a couple of Destiny Keys left over for PS4. European. (I know, we're few and far between). Let me know if you want them!
  21. I'm intrigued by it but it doesn't appear to be showing in the UK yet? Certainly not where I live (we've got one cinema and it's pretty bad at showing some films). I have heard that the themes are really obvious but that it's still fairly good, so I'd quite like to see it.
  22. He did leave. The thread has been removed from the Forum Welcome sub-forum but he left. I think it was an over-reaction and it's kind of a shame since it seemed like he was becoming a quite active (albeit controversial) member of the forum, but hey ho.
  23. Very succinct explanation of why our choices didn't really matter. I've long seen through the illusion of choice that these Telltale Games put up. I still appreciate having the choice and therefore shaping my character, even if it doesn't necessarily shape the story.
  24. Wonderful. It unlocks tonight at 6 PM GMT for me here in the UK. I'm gonna be taking screenshots of all my decisions (The bit that tells you what you did and what percentage of other players did that) just to keep tabs on it all (I do the same thing for Telltale Games) so we can share those here, so long as they're very well spoiler marked.
  25. Yeah I find myself staying silent more than I did in S1... I actually think I never did it in S1... Huh. With regards to Bonnie:
