  1. So I've played for about three hours now and this game is fantastic. I've barely even touched the story because it's just so much fun to zip around the city and do random activities.
  2. This may just be a big advertisement for the eventual Kickstarter game, but it's a damn good one.
  3. When you unlock the Temperance confidant, make sure to get it up to level 10 as soon as you can. That'll address one of your complaints.
  4. Castlevania 1, 2, and 3 I never beat these games as a kid and I've been on a big Castlevania kick ever since they announced Simon and Richter for Smash so I decided to finally beat these on the NES Classic. I used a walkthrough for 2 because that game is way too cryptic but other than that I abided by my usual rule of no save-scumming. 1 and 3 are definitely hard games, but after Ghosts and Goblins they didn't feel nearly as difficult as I remember. The trick that makes them a lot easier is to take your time and not jump too often, which I think is a natural instinct for a lot of people. You have much more control over Simon/Trevor on the ground than in the air, so unless jumping is the only way to dodge an attack you're usually better off just walking, ducking, or whipping to avoid damage. Pretty great games once you let go of your frustration.
  5. Some absolute saint has created a PC port of Castlevania: Rondo of Blood! No tricky emulators or roms needed. This is just a plain old exe file that works like a charm. They even translated it into English! How did I not know about this sooner?
  6. God damn, this looks amazing. They fixed everything I wanted them to fix. They did things I didn't even know I wanted. At this rate this is going to end up replacing the last game as my favorite shooter of this generation.
  7. This seems to be getting a lot of great reviews. I still have other games to finish but I wanted to get it while it was on sale.
  8. Yes. Yes I did post it in the wrong thread. But I agree, I like it fine the way it is. Making the map bigger just to force you to drive all over the place would make it less fun for me. There's plenty of fun things to do all within walking distance in Kamurocho so I don't see how making the map five times bigger and spreading everything farther apart would make it better.
  9. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Related article
  10. I started playing Yakuza 0 on steam. It's my first entry into the series. Getting it to recognize my controller was a frustrating son of a bitch, but once I was past the usual PC gaming pains I started having a pretty good time with it. It definitely isn't "Japanese GTA" the way Sleeping Dogs is Hong Kong GTA, but honestly I'm kind of glad. I'm a little tired of open world crime games. This is more like a really good looking River City Ransom where you get a very small but tightly packed town to run around in and beat up bad guys while occasionally doing some shopping or some pretty fun minigames. I think this actually has the most fun bowling minigame I've ever come across.
  11. I'm having a really hard time getting Yakuza 0 to recognize my DS4.  Anyone else having this issue?

With any other game it either works the first time I try it or all I have to do is enable/disable the support.  Choosing a profile has never been mandatory before, so it didn't occur to me to try it until I had already tried using every USB port, two external programs, and even reinstalling the entire game.  The profile that eventually worked was something called "Yakuza 0 Correct Config" or something along those lines.

Ah ok. It's always my first reflex because most games use a default config where the Steam Controller's right trackpad is a mouse and I fucking hate that one because it's shit for controlling the camera. So I always have to manually change it to one where it's an emulated joystick. I also disable the brackets under the controller because they're mapped to A and X and I always end up clicking them accidentally.

Here's you guys with some proper responses and my first thinking is "have you tried showing it some photos, maybe your DS4 has had a haircut. That can make it harder to recognise in my experience"

  12. Vanquish for 6.50. Same site as the last link I posted.
  13. https://www.chrono.gg/tb Bayonetta PC version for 5.99. It's only good for the next 21 hours.
  14. This taste...is the taste of a liar!
  15. So much for moving away from the grimdark! Holy shit, I'm actually stunned at how terrible this looks. It's almost like a parody trailer or something. This looks even worse than Batman v Superman did. Where to even begin on what they fucked up here? Everything, everything is done wrong. Starfire doesn't even have the right powers! That's not even getting into her laughably bad costume. If I talk about how they messed up Robin I'll probably fill up this entire page. Just shit all around.
  16. I've been reading a book about anti-gravity lately. I find that I just can't put it down.
  17. I'm just glad they're finally moving away from Zack Snyder grimdark. Shazam is probably the first DC movie since the Nolan trilogy that I'm actually kind of looking forward to seeing.
  18. Time to finally give this series a shot.
  19. This song was played at the beginning of the movie and I thought maybe they'd lifted it from some obscure album but no, they wrote it specifically for this film. Why are songs about summer such ear worms?!
  20. Shaun the Sheep I've been a fan of Aardman's work ever since I was a kid since they're doing something you never really see any other studios do anymore, but for some reason I never got around to watching this particular movie. I don't think it was promoted very heavily in the states, and Shaun isn't a character I have great affection for in the same way I do for Wallace and Gromit, so I probably just figured I could give it a pass. However, I finally watched it at someone's recommendation and I think this might be the best movie Aardman has ever put out. The production is amazing, and I shudder to imagine how long it must have taken them to build all those little sets and vehicles for the city scenes, which is the majority of the movie. Something else that really impressed me is that the movie is really entertaining without having a single line of spoken dialogue. The human characters sometimes speak in grunts and mumbles like the Sims, but pretty much everything that needs to be said is conveyed visually and it actually works. I never found myself wishing any of the characters would start speaking English. In fact, I actually found myself hoping they could keep up the pantomime to the very end and they did it. This limitation forced the filmmakers to rely on visuals and body language to get their story across, which really brought out their cleverness and humor. For a movie with no dialogue, it's very funny and even manages to be heartwarming in a few places. I'm really glad I watched it.
