  1. BF3 Community videos are up in TAY's Battlefield thread. Give it a look see! :)

  2. Thanks! Keep checking back to DeltaGamer, I have some stuff planned for them. Helping the site get on its feet and all. =) @Everyone: Here's our Battlefield 3 Community Request video Part one is here in case you haven't seen it. Tell me what you think.
  3. PSN still not up where I am! Argh!

  4. Just bought Brink...and for the PS3 no less. Yep. I live dangerously. Now if only I can magically make time to actually try it out.
  5. I liked the second half of the interview better. You asked good questions. I want to know about the differences between the PC and console versions. Too bad he wasn't free to talk about it much. I liked the pictures too. Thank you. I kinda guessed the second part would be better, I mean the first one was an introductory thing. Hope it gets as much views as well.
  6. I'm setting an appointment with Rocksteady and if things go according to plan, you guys have any Arkham City questions? So excited for this game. I mean this and Uncharted 3 might be my game of the year now that Last Guardian and Mass Effect 3 have been moved to next year. So, anything you want to ask 'em? =)
  7. Part two of my zh1nt0 interview...We talk about BF3! http://bit.ly/j4ELKL Hope everyone likes it! =)
  8. Here's part 1 of my interview with DICE CM Daniel Matros. Hope you all like it. http://deltagamer.com/582/interview-with-dice-community-manager-daniel-matros Yep, it's for a new site!
  9. Exactly. The only major concern for me is the credit card info. And we still don't have concrete info now that someone's CC info did get hacked or used. What actually bothers me more is how most game journos and sites are attacking Sony nonstop and saying they're incompetent or stupid but at the same time aren't condemning those people that actually started this whole mess. I mean if they did this to the PSN, what's stopping them from going after Xbox or Nintendo next.
  10. Exactly. I have absolutely no idea why people just automatically assume that the security was sub-par. I don't see any evidence that suggests this. Either way, gaming journalism in general has sunk to a new low with this. Pretty much every journalist out there is jumping on the "irrational bashing of Sony" bandwagon just because it's getting them more pageviews. You'll be hard pressed to find any site that's updating this story without any snarky sarcasm, and there's plenty of occasions when they flat out lie or just pull stuff out of their ass. And this is separate from all the half-witted "editorial" pieces that bash Sony based on pure conjecture, complete with lapses in logic so large it amazes me they were even able to write their rants with any kind of serious tone. It's like everybody collectively made up their mind that this entire thing is Sony's fault, and Sony's response and their attempts to fix it, no matter what it is, will never be good enough to them. They've already made up their mind that Sony's security and response was and will be "sub-par" and regardless of what happens they'll find any way to support their preconceived notion. That's at least what it looks like to me looking in. It's this behavior that confirms suspicion that "gaming journalism" is considered a joke. When they can't report on something that's actually a serious issue and not a shiny new game or hardware with any kind of professional integrity, it's really obvious to see their lack of maturity and ability to function as a proper "journalist". No offense directed at our Excaliburps of course None taken. I kinda agree. While there has to be a balance between hard-hitting news and news posts that you know will get hits, it's something that has been going downhill from time to time. One of the major reasons I think is because of money. To talk more in-depth about it, I made a thread that will talk about this. It's in New Vegas http://board.pressxordie.com/topic/1106-videogame-writing-as-a-job-and-other-stuff/page__pid__49212#entry49212 Concerning the Sony thing, some game writers are really going a bit overboard with it. I mean take Jim Sterling for instance. I know a lot of people don't like him. I personally am ok with him, but he really does seem like he has a vendetta against Sony for the way he's been "reporting" the PSN "facts." Thing is, we all don't know how good or shitty Sony's security concerning the PSN has been. I mean unless you work for Sony or for a major development studio, all we can do is theorize and whatnot. At least for me. I am in no way technical I admit. Can you imagine if this happened to XBL? I mean PSN is free. But for those that pay yearly for online and this happens? I think it would certainly be a bigger mess.
  11. I have no idea how that graph works, but I'm guessing it shows that Kotaku lost a TON of hits month per month, yes? I'm guessing they won't be getting the hits they got before, no? Also, anyone know specific numbers concerning views, unique views, etc?
  12. My interview with Pachter is done! Will post a link here once it's published. He's actually quite nice...I was expecting someone much clueless and more arrogant. Glad I was wrong.
  13. @Thursday_Next: Lol! I hate you! I hate that you've seen and played this game's MP!!! I kid! Anyhoo, my little talk with Daniel Matros of DICE is done. Will post a link here when it's up on the other site I'm going to be working for soon. Oh, I have no idea why, but the fact that PSN has been down all this time made me very antsy to get some Bad Company 2 action on. Damn that game is still so much fun even after other "big" shooters are out there.
  14. Man, very excited for this game. I cannot believe it's going to be out in a week and a half! I mean this will be my big FPS until Battlefield 3 comes along. Splash Damage looks to be doing a ton of new things that might be the new standard in tomorrow's shooters. Add in the fact that it's class-based and more about objectives and I'm already sold!
  15. Ok. I'm tired of writing about the PSN, Hackers, etc. And I know a ton of people do, too! So can we expect the PSN posts to slowly die out once the PSN is back online this coming week? It's one thing to report on the FBI findings, etc. But every site out is just reporting on the same old thing! Oh, and some sites add in snark for good measure (hits). Heck, even my twitter is getting flooded. Sony messed up their security but it was like videogame news just stopped happening. Add in the fact that PSN posts got the most views, and well, yknow what happens next. I actually got a bunch of people calling me biased, ignorant, etc. because I was reporting about it. I mean I'm snarky sometimes but I was actually very bland when writing these posts for those exact reasons. Some readers seriously need better reading comprehension skills. So, free PSN Plus?! Not bad. Throw in maybe a game or something and I think I'll be ok. It's not like I pay for it, no? I mean I do since I joined PSN Plus but seeing as PSN is free, I'm not losing much sleep over it. I only want to play online and that's it.
  16. Uh, you are aware that this is actually a huge deal, right? When 77 million people are compromised of their private information, it's no longer a small mentionable at the bottom of page A8 of the newspaper. Not when the FBI, the FTC, and Canadian and British organizations are looking into the matter. I'm not suggesting for people to sweep it under the rug. I'm suggesting "journalists" need to report on this without resorting to childish "let's bash on Sony" parades just because it's the popular thing to do at the moment. I know what you mean. I actually am fucking tired of reporting about the PSN, hackers, etc. I doubt I'm the only one. Other writes for different sites have expressed the same. Did Sony mess up? Hell yes. Are they the only ones? Nope and they won't be the last. I actually tapered off a bit this week and wrote a few posts here and there and mostly are PSN related. Hopefully, this coming week will be the end of it. What's more funny is I'm tired of writing about this thing and people are telling me to I'm biased for reporting about it. This is true! Sidenote: Kotaku lost 2 million views per month? Did i get that right? Holy hell that's a lot!
  17. I know what you mean. I mean people are quick to point out that because PSN's "free" that's the reason it got hacked. Of course they seem to forget the fact that XBL can be hacked too. Was Sony's security and all shitty? Yeah, I'd guess so but people are reacting like Sony's the only company that can be hacked into. Not to mention I'm kinda getting burned out by all the "news and updates" even if they're just little quips and unfounded rumors. I mean a ton of gaming journos are reporting on this like mad because it's getting a ton of hits. I've only done like 1-3 news posts about it. Yeah the hits are nice, but most of the news are just repeats on itself. I might be a bit jaded because I used fake info for my region 1 and region 3 accounts, but even so, has there been a confirmed credit card hack? Sony has said now that all the CC info has been encrypted and Deanb showed me a link that is very plausible. To wit, I'm in no way defending Sony's shitty security or updates. But at the same time I'm more upset at the HACKERS who did all this. I mean it's not like Sony wanted this to happen, right?
  18. I can't believe TAY doesn't have a Twisted Metal thread. Ah, well. It might be nostalgia talking but I remember how bad-ass it was when I played it on PS1. Yeah, I know it came on PS2 but I mostly remember the PS1 stuff. In saying that, Jaffe got back to me today and apparently, we're going to set our little chat up, next week! I know he said I couldn't ask anything about TM's MP, but seeing as we do know some things about it, what questions do you guys have or are interested in asking? I don't think he'd answer anything too specific, but a broader stroke of the brush wouldn't hurt if you know what I mean. Oh, and yep. I'm kinda excited about its MP more than its SP. It would certainly be a good break from all the FPS' out there, no?
  19. Yeah, I might ask that. Not sure if he'll answer everything I ask though. But I will try. I'm going to be talking about these things with him as well. Most probably the interview will be based around him, his "predictions" and other stuff, rather than asking him about how he thinks X game will sell, etc. That might also be involved but most probably will be based around what people actually want to know...at least from what I'm hearing. Sounds good to any of you? Or be more traditional? Oh, I was just answering the general question of what, exactly, Pachter does for a living at Wedbush Securities. Most folks in the gaming community don't seem to have a clear idea of Pachter's role. Yeah, I'm definitely going to ask something to that effect as that seems to be what a lot of people are most curious about. Anyway, I'm going to start collecting questions now so I can grill him this coming week! It got delayed a bit due to other features I'm readying for another site. If you have anymore questions, post it here now before we start it. Who do you guys think would be a good guy/girl to interview once this is over? I would so want developers, but they're busy most of the time. Heck, Jaffe still says were on but we both can't commit on a specific date and time.
  21. Thanks for being frank! I was thinking of putting on the site that pays more right away, but I also didn't want to think I was "selling out" or something to that effect. Good question! I'll put that in. @Pirandello: He has a lot of interviews done in print. In most of them, he gets called out. Or people flame the comments because of what he said. @Deanb: Those are good questions! I'll definitely ask that "who pays him" one. Oh, and he's still with Wedbush Morgan. I don't think he has better opinions but I know what you mean. Strange that most publishers and developers do cater to him, no? Haha! I think you know what I mean by "appreciate" Yeah, I might do it with the site that pays more... I think the one that pays less will significantly get more views with it. For my CV, I normally don't put that down, but I also acknowledge how to pick stories that get hits. Most hits I've gotten in a single story was around 60,000+ views. Not too bad, no? I need the money, but I would also want the largest number of people to read it. In saying that, I'm contemplating doing the chat and putting the most interesting ones as separate articles on its own. Oh, and from what I'm saying here, yep. I'm not denying that I pick stories that I know will get a ton of views or at least interest me somewhat. One thing I don't do though is LIE or fabricate stuff up. Kinda want to say more but I am choosing my words as the wrong people could read this if you know what I mean.
  22. What are your thoughts on so-called gaming analysts? Y'know, Michael Pachter and the like? Reason I'm asking is, it looks like I'll be talking to Micheal Pachter soon. I know a ton of you have a lot of questions or hate analysts, especially Pach-man, care to send me some questions? Although please don't be rude as I still need something fit to print. I will obviously ask him how he feels about people hating what he says, why he always gets quoted so much, etc. Speaking of which, I have a dilemma that I hope some people here can help me out with. I have two sites to choose from where to publish the said interview. One site pays more, but the other site's audience might "appreciate" the piece more. When I say pays more, it does mean a LOT more. So, should I print it where I know I'll get more money out of it, but gamble if people read it from there (or link to it?) or post it on somewhere I know people will read it, but the pay will blow somewhat?
  23. Holy fuck! We have a dashing warrior here, folks! All kidding aside, you gonna get banned! Ah, well. Not like what was on it was made up or anything, no?
  24. Haha! Indeed you have! For everyone who hasn't read it yet, this is an awesome interview. Even without the Kotaku reveal. The writer is a very good guy and has a Masters degree in Journalism.
  25. Its still interesting to look at how the modern setting has developed in the FPS, and maybe even dispel the myth or at least the over-simplification that everyone just wants to copy MW. Judging from the discussion in this thread I'd say people are pretty interested in the topic. Yep. I agree. A lot of people are interested in it and there should be at least someone writing about how MW didn't "start" it. Not taking anything away from MW1, but whenever I hear reviewers say that it was the one who started unlocks, etc. it's kinda annoying because you know it's not true. @Hakidia: I think it would make for good gaming conversation, and as I've said in the original post, I'm writing an article about it. I find that having different points of view about these things bring a certain clarity that you otherwise wouldn't see right away. @Faiblesse: Nope. Not going to write condescendingly. Not at all. This will be a feature rather than a standard news post. What's more is I'm writing it for another site and I don't really "need" to try and get hits that much. Not saying anything more I don't want to incriminate myself.
