  1. Yep. I love the anonymity. Not that we're required to do that or anything. I just want to comment on people's reaction and what I have to say that I can't put on the article itself. If I do, it won't get published for being a little too opinionated. Sucks, no? I also wanted to really say that "YES COD IS A KID's game. Friggin' assholes who keep buying them annoy me". Haha! Or something to that effect. Will not get approved, sadly.
  2. Aside from Totilo, I think their writing ability can fit into that thimble as well. Ok. Owen and McWhertor do write some good stuff from time to time, but the rest? Erm...No comment.
  3. Um. Just to add fuel to the fire. There's this. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/84400/dice-producer-takes-swipe-at-rivals/ You guys have no idea how hard it was to not be a complete ass when I wrote that. Not that it would get approved. Although Bach did go to for the crotch shot (Children's game).
  4. That's interesting, because I'm the opposite: I'm completely sick of military shooters, and yet this has my interest. Of course, I'm also opposite in that I only care about SP, and don't give two shits about multiplayer. I'm actually intrigued more with the SP than the MP to be honest. Which is a first for me. The premise of an Asian country overtaking the US is intriguing. I just hope they're not trying to sell the game based off just that. Their recent marketing push seems to exemplify this more than the game itself. I hate to use the words "gimmick" but it does come off that way when you see how hard they're pushing it to be in the mainstream media. There's even a news piece that does a mock-up of it. It's in Youtube. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way. The game might be good. We'll know soon enough if it can stand up with the big boys.
  5. Add me to the people not fatigued by Military FPS'. I'm open to playing more as long as they're good. From the looks of it, BF3 seems to be bringing the awesome in a big way. I mean if I told you a year ago that BF3 will have SP and it will cause nerd-boners you'd have laughed at my ass and punched me in the face. Admit it, you would!
  6. Damn. When you list it down that way, it makes me feel like a moron for even staying that long. Yep. Also found out from another commenter about my account being hacked. Fuck! Agree with your post entirely. Science articles appearing on Kotaku? Used to defend it. Now? I see it as using Kotaku to get more hits for that story. Ugh. Banhammering anyone who even criticizes their story, writing style, etc? Yeah. Because clearly Kotaku is the pinnacle of games journalism. What really got me was when Crecente started banning people left and right when they all called him out on his Black Ops GOTY choice. Seriously? Out of all the major sites out there. Even the laughable ones like IGN didn't pick Blops. Makes me think that some people saying Kotaku and Activision secret dealings have some merit. How else you can explain them over exposing CoD. From jeeps, stupid ass montages that they post only for CoD (think of a BC2, Halo, etc. montage? Nope? Bingo!) from every shooter having to be about CoD, to even his son playing CoD warranting a post. Ugh. Just Ugh. That was a bit extreme. And he sent the others to the cornfield even if their argument was sound and wasn't hostile by any means. Kotaku seemed to think they're the best site in breaking news. Sad to say aside from that Sony/Home thing, they've yet to duplicate that "success." Aside from the few rumors they occasionally throw out. But every site does that. Oh, and not even thanking people for tipping news for them? Very classy. I'm guessing posting something as a tip has something to do with their pay, hence they do it that way. All in all they seem to have lost pulse on why the people went their in the first place. That, and their are now more than enough sites to replace them tenfold. I used to wonder why people not form Kotaku hated Kotaku. Now? I kinda understand it a bit. Especially other media sites. I've yet to read a gaming site editor tell me something favorable about Crecente or Kotaku in general. translation: "Our readers are idiots, so here's a damn scroll bar." when really I ran into multiple problems (especially from a laptop), when I was intending to scroll a story, and would scroll the articles area. Or since the scroll slider on the touchpad of my wife's laptop is wonky, I'd be using the down and up arrows, only to have the entire fucking article change. Oh, this is fucking golden. I love how they're transparently claiming to be "ahead of the curve". Yeah, yeah, keep flattering yourself. You're coming so far ahead you're falling behind, right? Everyone's leaving because you're too awesome? Jesus, these people wouldn't know "humility" if was raping their bums. Haha! Fucking agree! They're so ahead of the curve that everyone gets left behind. Yeah that must be the reason why everybody's leaving. Because we're slow and retarded for not admitting that their sight redesign is not the site trend of the future and just not a quick ad grab.
  7. Damn! Is there a way to determine how much money they're continually losing? I might get some flack for this, but they deserve it in a way. Crecente definitely. The fact that not many industry peeps do exclusives for Kotaku or talks highly of Crecente speaks volumes about the way the industry peeps think of him. At least in my opinion. It's like Kotaku got too big too soon and he didn't know how to handle being the top dog right away. Now? I highly, highly doubt they're going to be back to where they were. Most of the people that left went to Joystiq or Dtoid and found out there's more to gaming sites than Kotaku. Maybe when they get taken down a peg or two reviews will be better written. They'll be able to put Luke in a leash or just banish him. Concentrate on gaming again. And don't hire people just because they live in that part of the fucking world.
  8. I just don't go any more. Too frustrating. When/If all the kinks are worked out, I certainly wouldn't be opposed to going back, but at this point, I'd rather go through the work of making a thread about a topic here and talk about it with a few rational people here. Same here. I tried going there yesterday and today. Looked at the headlines. Saw yet again that their news are late and a bit irrelevant to what's happening to the gaming industry and left. Tried to comment, but lost the will to do so. New commenters make me die a little inside when I read what they post.
  9. When I read this I immediately went to Kotaku to check. And you know what? It's like GDC isn't even on their minds. Know what I saw? Crap such as this: http://ca.kotaku.com/5774107/threes-not-a-crowd-four-is Wow. Luke sinking to new lows? So the box art is similar? Um...Ok. Even some of the commenters were asking him what the big deal was? Also this:http://ca.kotaku.com/5774075/your-first-look-at-someone-playing-battlefield-3 Way to word it again, Luke! fanboy baiting at its finest! Seriously, even their BF3 preview from Totilo wasn't that much of a read. It's like they asked me to do a preview on the Petz game or something. Clearly Totilo is not a Battlefield fan in any way. Yep. I might sound like a BF fanboy but I've read other articles and theirs (kotaku) was the most disconnected one. I didn't get the feeling that they were there watching the live-demo. All I read was Luke trolling again for hits. Lord knows they need it now. And Totilo, while a good writer, writing out of his comfort zone. I'm guessing if this was CoD related Crecente would be all over it like white on rice. Not to mention plaster the entire site with CoD mouse pad posts, car posts, how his son likes CoD posts. Not just about BF3 either. The overall site content has been bland or looks like they were posted for the sake of getting hits. I actually wouldn't be surprised if Luke did that intentionally just to get more hits. If their payment scheme is anything similar to mine their posts correlates to the number of hits it gets and their pay. Ugh. I think I might have overshared a bit regarding that.
  10. Coolness. I'm starting to get peeved at the overuse of some memes/images- like the Citizen Kane .gif of the guy in the theatre clapping. Overall I love memes, too. EDIT: Also, what pisses me off to a massive extent is passive aggressiveness or rudeness online. So many people do that, though I see it more on forums and closed-communities than anywhere else. I'm fine with empirical or constructive criticism, even if it's in a blunt tone, but I hate comments that have personal inferences or hostile connotations. Even if I'm having a massively heated argument with someone I'll always try and add a lighthearted element to keep the debate cool, but so many people just don't respond and escalate even more. Being friendly makes everything better in life. Agree with this. Some people are just I dunno, asses. It's one thing to use expletives, it's another to use it in an offensive manner. I swear like a pirate but I almost never use it against someone. Also hate it that almost every game reveal, fan flick, preview, etc. Is met with a "meh" or something similar. Something like "not impressed etc". Gee...Really? Saw the BF3 trailer. Almost everyone had a positive reaction about it. I scroll down on the kotaku bf3 thread and read the same shit from a couple of people. Yeah. They got all the info about the game from a 2 minute trailer.
  11. Me too! And judging from everywhere I've read, the internets agreed on something! OMG! Apocalypse now! Seriously, from writers, to people who've seen the trailer. Everyone is just flat-out amazed right now. Now if you'll excuse me, I'll be watching that trailer again. This time in glorious 1080p.
  12. I'm not from America, but yeah I get what you're saying. As for the MP, seeing as how everyone is talking about BF3 and its awesome trailer, it's sort of being swept under the rug from all the hype. I'd wager EA will release another trailer when HF is near release. Just to deflate their tires somewhat.
  13. That's what I'm afraid of.
  14. Congrats for your new articles, just don't forget the news from the battlefield aight. Thanks! Yeah, I won't! Although I do admit that all this news posting is taking its toll. Sigh. Unfortunately, you're right in your assumption. A ton of stories are queued up waiting to be published. At times they edit it for a long time and the news we post get old. Happened to me at least 3 times today. Visceral Studios job opening? Did a write-up right away. But got approved a couple of hours later. I expect things will be better once I get the hang of everything better and they trust me more. Need to post a ton of news for the $ to come in. Overall, they're a bunch of nice guys. Certainly way more professional than I expected. I also like the fact that they never ever want to steal someone's story and do not condone copying and pasting entire articles from someone else's post. We need to get a few choice sentences and link to the source so they'll get the hits. Classy, no?
  15. Yep. Seems like Denton forgets that we ghetto guys are the ones putting money in his pockets. I also could live with the layout. But do I want to? Kotaku, most of all wouldn't even be anywhere near where they are now without the commenters clicking each story just to see who replied to them. Agreed. With Denton's arrogance, couple with the hacking, I highly doubt Kotaku will see its numbers rise to what it was again. Although to be honest, Kotaku deserves to be taken down a peg or two. I used to blindly love the site. To the point that I rarely, if ever, criticize it. But after reading what non-Kotaku peeps and some of the comments from the people here, y'know what? I've been living with rose-colored Kotaku glasses on. Some of 'em certainly seem to think that they're better "writers" or whatnot compared to the other sites out there. Which I know for a fact is false. Their gaming news is now almost always late. Articles mostly consist of boobs, violence or anything that will get a lot of hits. Or something trying to be art...Basically, crap that's there to instigate people to comment. Is it just me or are there a lot of things wrong with the site? Both technically and editorially?
  16. Haha! Er to be honest, I don't understand the graphs that much. Just see the big dip and know that's the hits counter. Massive drop, no?
  17. I'll see if I can get it cheap here. Although I am a bit cautious as the vids I've seen imply to me that this game might make me dizzy/sick with all the jumping, climbing, etc. I don't normally get sick with FPS' but it happened to me a couple of times...
  18. @madbassman39 Yup. Good point about the Medic. Also, if you're playing Rush and your team doesn't need an Engineer, don't spawn as an Engineer! There's been a couple of games that this happened to me. No vehicles in sight yet teammates kept spawning as an Engineer instead of as a medic or assault that was needed. God, I hate bush wookies that play whose only goal is to pad their K/D and have it show on their sig. Um, buddy, that sig also shows your objective and squad score. I once saw someone who had a K/D of 2.4 and saw his ob/squad score as being very, very low. Yep. Bush wookie alert. Thank god the DICE devs had said they're planning on doing something about that predicament. And also at the people who think every game mode is Deathmatch. Ugh.
  19. Is it just me, or does this game seem to be a bit underwhelming? I love FPS'. I'm one of the people that aren't sick to death of military FPS'. But this game fails to excite me in anyway. Be it from the SP to the MP. SP's story is certainly intriguing. But the recent playthroughs I've seen were a bit underwhelming. Go into X room. Clear enemy...Rinse and repeat. The MP? Looks eerily a lot like CoD. From the Sleight of Hand perk renaming to the way the character moves. Of course KAOS were modders for BF2 so you're going to see some influence of that in there. The vehicles area nice touch but I have read a couple of previews where the people complained that the game essentially boiled down to drone-fests. Seeing as the game made it very easy to buy and deploy drones. Which gets me to my next point. I primarily get FPS' for the MP. Homefront's MP looks to continue with the CoD-vein of shooters taht deploy "Win" buttons, or WIN game mechanics. Examples of those are the AC130, Attack Dogs, etc. I used those I admit. Did I feel good, or special that there was an automated thing that was essentially handing me kills on a plate? Nope. I could see how it could be someone's cup of tea. But I don't think I'd drink it. Homefront looks to be the same with their Star/Wanted levels and purchasable choppers. I will give the game a chance though. I'll see if it'll change my mind enough to pick it up. Oh, and I'm not hating on the game just posting what I thought/seen so far. Your thoughts, gentlemen?
  20. Ah. It wasn't as prevalent as it is now. Yeah. I emailed Crecente the moment the redesign took place. He told me replies are being worked on. PMs he didn't answer. My guess is they might be dropping it altogether.
  21. Not just Amazon but Gamestop as well. Here's what I posted earlier in the day. http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/story/84357/catherine-dated-for-us-july-release-pulled-by-gamestop/ But yeah. Nothing wrong with just thinking Summer. As the date could change.
  22. Replies sometimes doesn't work. I click it and I go to a blank or old comment. I still have a red 1 on my name even thought there are no new replies to me. Following someone using the new design isn't implemented yet. Unless I'm mistaken. Don't know about you but I used the PMs a lot. Be it for exchanging info you don't want out there or talking to some of the editors. The fact is the feature isn't there and it was before. Not really complaining as I find that I go to Kotaku less and less. Same with commenting there. I actually comment here more now.
  23. My posts in gamrfeed.com are live! In other words, go there to read what I write and for news! :)

    1. VicariousShaner

      VicariousShaner

I hope you spelled that wrong, at that isnt the actual name. Because poor literacy is kewl!

  24. And you got play it?? You fuckin' bastard! What did you get to try out? MP? Early thoughts? New game-mechanic? Deets, man! I tried a map of MP and an SP demo. I can't really give away details I'm afraid. The mp map is huuuuuuge. The single player looks amazing. Keep your eyes on GDC coverage. Yeah I will. But it's embargoed. Might badger some of the people in the site who are at GDC. C'mon! PM me! Even a bit! Like what new features you noticed. So the part you played. that's what they're demoing I reckon? PC or consoles? MP looks amazing as well?
  25. Yep. Game is confirmed to be coming this Summer July 26. I actually reported on it earlier in the day.
