  1. Damn! I remember that Foxstar guy. Foxstar Sixtail was it? Is he here? HUUUUUGE Ninty fanboy. Whenever a game mechanic, innovation cropped up he'd say that "Nintendo did it first" or "They copied it from Nintendo" etc. Got old after a while.
  2. I actually haven't been reading Gian Bomb much. Maybe I should. For game reviews at least. Oh, agree with Gametrailers. Watching a review is loads better than just reading it. Keighley's not bad as well. Out of curiosity, anyone here likes Kotaku's reviews? Or any editor's reviews fort that matter?
  3. Really? If so, that's some deep-seated hatred! Haha! All because of that thread where you told 'em about site improvement or something? I dunno. They sometimes ban people even for linking harmless sites. From non-gaming sites, to gaming sites that are in a different theme as them. Then again, gamrFeed isn't exactly in good terms with Kotaku as well. Dare I say it, they are a bit snooty when it comes to Kotaku. Because of Kotaku's writing, not linking the proper site for the news they got, etc. Hmm...I might try and post my interview in a Kotaku TAY. I might get banned, I might not. Not that big of a difference anyway. As I mostly comment here and on other sites. For news there's twitter. Oh, and there's gamrFeed as well. Their community is supposed to be quite significant as well.
  4. I like it! Takes some getting used to, but the Warzone mode in particular is terrific. Guerilla Warfare (the plain Team Deathmatch mode) isn't the greatest - it's basically five very small versions of the other maps, and matches can last as little as five minutes on the smallest maps, and then you have a minute to wait after the match before it cycles to the next match, then about thirty seconds of loading time, and thirty seconds before the match starts. So you're waiting almost half the length of the match sometimes - if you were basing the KZ3 MP off of that mode, it would be disappointing. Warfare though is aweeeesome. You get these epic, long matches where you can wrack up loads of XP on huge maps, with different sets of of objectives that ultimately decide which teams wins and loses. The new mode with cutscenes is cool too, but I think Warzone really makes the game. You'll have to play with us soon! Add my PSN ID (Carrotan) - I'll send you an invite to the TAY clan next time I'm on. (Tomorrow, perhaps?) Yeah. Warzone is definitely the best mode so far. Sure! I'll add you when I play it. Haven't played it yet. Aside from the 5 minutes when I yanked the controller from my brother-in-law. I mostly play FPS' if I'm not playing SP games.
  5. I find it funny when people assume shit. Oh wait, no I don't. I honestly didn't like Medal of Honor one bit, but that's maybe me just being sick to death of military shooters already. You did read that I said most not all, right? I didn't generalize that everyone did it. You're also sick of Military FPS' so it wasn't the same reason. People were parroting how "X game mechanic is old" or "This game is crap because X reviewer said it was" I mean that's what I gleam from most people. Not saying it's not ok to not like the game. As it's perfectly fine. But others doing it so without saying why and just saying it's a CoD rip-off isn't that believable. At least to me.
  6. So, who's yours? I normally don't give a crap about reviews. I've played a ton of games which "only" got a 6-7 and I enjoyed it immensely. At the same time, I played a couple of GOTY contenders and fell asleep. Or at the very least, didn't even want to finish it. I do listen to some reviews. But I only listen to ones that I know come from someone whose gaming tastes are a bit similar to my own. I find that doing that, and having a few sites you go read reviews for are way better than going to Metacritic. It's either that or I read user reviews that are well-written. I honestly value the user reviews more than the editor ones. As long as it's not a fanboy-driven mess. Ok. One reviewer/editor whose reviews I actually like a bit is Tyler Wilde from Gamesradar. Genre? FPS or something similar. I find that we tend to nitpick and have the same preferences. Not everything of course. But I find that I generally agree with what he has to say. You guys? Whom and what site?
  7. Yes it was, no? I find it funny most of the people bashing the game are just parroting what they read on the intrawebs. The game had a ton of bugs. Both MP and SP. But I can honestly say I liked it/and played it way more than Black Ops. I hope Danger Close puts enough care into the next one. If so, I'll be getting it again.
  8. Just got the CE of KZ3 yesterday! Haven't had a chance to play it though. Been so very busy... Looks gorgeous. This game will hold me over till Brink drops. And Brink should hold me over till BF3 drops. At least I hope so. Don't want to get Homefront and Crysis just for the MP. So, I take it KZ3's MP is good?
  9. Yeah. They are banning people who link here. I honestly think some of the eds drop by here and lurk from time to time and see who's linking, and ban them. Yeah. Won't be posting the BF3 site I contribute for there. I will, however, post a link for the military piece I'm working on. I'll post it in TAY. I might get banned though as it's being hosted by a different site. Whatcha guys think? Stupid move?
  10. There's been problems with the PS3. 360 servers since Vietnam got released. It looks like it wrecked the servers and they haven't been the same since. Which reminds me, haven't played BC2 using my account in a while.
  11. Thanks! What do you guys know of the site and its community? I'm actually going to be posting this week! Studying the posting system, etc. @Battra92: Haha! And I am touched!
  12. Thanks, dean. What do you make of the site? I honestly have only browsed through it a couple of times. I haven't even commented a thing there! I did tell the EIC that I am telling some of the Kotaku community about it. Hopefully, some of the people jumping ship will have this and that site for news. I don't know anyone from that site. Just the EIC whom I've exchanged emails with. Other than that, no idea where, who, what they are. I do know Vgcharz though.
  13. That's what happens with these 'shop contests. And the fact that the site is now starving for hits of any kind makes me think they're not going to be as strict with banning. Seriously, the only stories that get more than a 100 comments are either about CoD, BF, any super high-profile game, or a TAY thread or similar to it. The fact that they're now posting TAY themed threads twice a day is no coincidence. Which is kinda pointless as the commenters posting in it are not the usual people who made it what it was. I'm ok with new people. But new people who are JERKS? Nope.
  14. Notification are indeed back but it's still borked. the number of replies go back up even if I've replied to them already. Not to mention I've clicked on it, saw the replies, clicked it and sent me to my own comment. Ugh. In short, not working properly...Doubt I'm the only one experiencing this. So, CA UK Kotaku not yet killed. Replies are being worked on. I daresay we might get half of old Kotaku's functionality in about a month's time. Getting a bit old to be honest. I mean for the latest news? There are at least 3 sites that I can name that has news up faster. Reviews? Don't really go to Kotaku for reviews. For the odd editorial maybe. I used to open the kotaku page whenever I sat down in front of my PC. Now? an afterthought. Just to check if they have news the other sites haven't posted yet. Which was the case a couple of years ago. Now they're always a couple of hours, if not days late. And to think I've been with the site for more than 5 years now. Shame if we're going to be breaking up this way.
  15. Here's an awesome breakdown of the BF3 trailer done by the people who know what they're doing. http://www.offdutygamers.com/2011/02/tactical-review-bf3-gameplay-trailer/ Awesome stuff!
  16. Yeah. That's what I was thinking. They can tweak the maps to make it more compact, but how will jets fare? I know I don't want to be in a map where the jet can blitz through in about 2-3 seconds through the whole map. Well, BC2 already had the biggest map added recently and it still playable in PS3, even though sometimes players will be lumped in a certain area (mostly around flags) but yeah, I think this could work. man, I wish PS3 use 1 GB of RAM instead the standard 512, they can't even be upgraded! Haha! Me too! Thinking of PC players getting their 64 player game on... I might get a new PC and buy two version of it. Depends on my budget at the time. Yep. Coop campaign as well.
  17. Oh, and I talked to the EIC. He gave me the go signal. Site is http://gamrfeed.vgchartz.com/ Owned by the Vgchartz network. Anyone here familiar with it? Thoughts? And yep. Military article will be hosted by 'em I expect.
  18. Yeah. But it's a hard balance sometimes when it comes to hits, who posted the news first, etc. Congrats Here's a tiny hint. Most game journos these days are lurkers on Gaf. It would be smart I guess in a way to join the site and discuss and do articles too. Since sometimes some of the members do some insane amount of digging up to find info about games they may or may not like. And they have a fair number on there as well who write for press. Thanks! Yeah. I actually lurk there from time to time. Although you can't get an account approved as of the moment. Not that I want to comment there to be honest. Some of 'em are not that nice to put it lightly. I'm not going to be covering the usual press release as they have people doing that who are in the US. Thank you very much! I honestly hope some of you guys will comment there and whatnot. Would really mean a lot to me to see familiar faces there. Oh, as for your observation about me real name and all, yep! just told my wife about it the other day and I am kinda freaking out about it. It's one thing to dissect and make fun of my posts, but me? Haha! My god! Then again, I'm Asian. And we all look alike as some people say. Haha! Haha! Take a pic of the girl. If she's playing a game, while yes. That's news! If she's playing a game and she's pretty? That merits two different news posts! Haha! Kinda sad that we all know who and what that comment of yours meant.
  19. Lol! I take it when I post something you guys will rip me to shred because of grammar mistakes, etc. Anyway, being a news poster means regurgitating news you get from somewhere else. Aside from the press release of course. I do know a couple of sites to go to but care to recommend any? Also, it's very tempting to post rumors or other hearsay. N4G comes to mind. What I don't want is posting something and having to constantly edit, delete it because of the content. Whatcha think? Don't post news until it's confirmed, or at the very least, has basis. Or post rumors, things you hear? Some people like it for the added hits, etc. Me? I just want to post the news as quick as possible for relevancy.
  20. Dude, beer is one of THE major hindrance to your weight loss. Hence "beer gut". Beer is made of carbs that get stuck in your body. We need carbs for energy, but too much and it gets stored. Don't drink beer! Or Coke. Times like this I wish we were neighbors so I'd drag you to the gym everyday and slap your head when you order a pint or something.
  21. I know the game sold 5 mil, but the general consensus is the Medal of Honor reboot sucked. I actually had a ton of fun with it. It's SP was sublime, nothing too grandiose and was quite believable. MP had a ton of bugs but I actually had more fun with it than Black Ops. Yeah. I had more fun with an "average" game than Crecente's GOTY pick. The game felt rushed. That's its main problem. SP had game-breaking bugs. MP severely lacked weapon/map variety... I am honestly excited to see what MoH 2 brings to the table.
  22. Ok. Replying here as that was one long-ass post. Thanks for all the support, guys. I was kinda expecting some hate posts or something to be honest. Also, they are asking me for my photo! I get that they're going to be using my real name, but photo? Damn! Not that I look like Quasimodo or anything, but I like that anonymity. I really appreciate all the tips and support you guys are doling out. I'm in a "strike the iron while it's hot" mood seeing as Kotaku is slowly becoming Denton's own personal gaming lab rat for advertising. I mean all those that jumped ship have to dock somewhere, right?
  23. Haha! You mean NOT post about Idol things? I might not be able to help it to be opinionated. Although I'll make sure it's not Plunkett's style of jerkiness. I do know flamebaiting gets a ton of hits. I also know that I don't want to be that guy. Noted. I doubt the editor would let me run that as well even if I wanted to. Yeah. That's what I mean. I assume that Plunkett does that sometimes just for the hits. I'm not going to be doing that of course. Haha! You can call me whatever you want! My first article will be about that Military thing. Then, might be about the piracy issue here. Oh, FPS' are very big here. Yeah. Difference between Eastern and Western gaming is a good subject. Although it might be a bit controversial. I just woke up. I'll review the site first. I really want to tell you guys what the site is so you can see it, and tell me what you think. I'm technically hired (I think) but I don't want to jump the gun until I make my fist official post. Haha! Good stuff, Dean. 1) Agreed. 2) Yep. I do know there are a couple of things I SHOULDN'T be covering. Either I hate it, or I like too much which will askew any objectivity from whatever it is I write. 3) Haha! I will try. I know Jaffe can handle it. But some people don't want to reply that much unless it's a fluff piece for whatever game they're making. 4) Excellent point. Only problem with that is we have a quote per day. 5) I will! I hope some of you guys can drop by from time to time as well. 6-8] Haha! I take it you don't like the term "Jump" when people want you to click through? 9) Noted. 10) If only things were always that easy... Haha! I know! I also know that my grammar, sentence structure, etc. Will be dissected and be mauled by people. They did say they'll help me out regarding this if any problems arises. Thanks! Thanks, man! Haha! Hmm...I think I'll try to skirt around it if I can! Thanks! I agree! I rely on that spell-checker more than I care to admit! Now, is there a punctuation, sentence checker?
  24. @Giga: "I don't know if this star is justified or not, I just hoping that they still giving star due to quality of the commenter." Exactly! That should be the main reason of the star. It could be because you're a funny sod, or you always know the correct alignment of Jupiter in relation to gaming or whatnot. Now? I see people with stars who are either rude, or just plain dicks. Say what you will about stars being pointless, etc. But I chose whom to reply to as to not promote a comment that's just obviously looking for attention. That, and trying to help some people out.
  25. Haha! Yes! Those "I'd buy 10 of those etc." Lines. Mostly mentioned if it's a Dreamcast game or an obscure RPG. I want to tell 'em that if they bought it upon release, we shouldn't even be having this conversation in the first place!
