Hotline Miami. Man, the game plays much better with a controller than I expected (or in my case, on Vita). I kinda want to say it was better than mouse and keyboard. Just seemed like I was sucking less. Anyway, I already beat it when it first came out on PC but I never bothered going for the true ending. I did now and... well, there really isn't much to it. Game is as fun as ever, though. Really tempted to go for the platinum now since it looks pretty doable and I'm already almost 75% there. edit: Platinum achieved! Getting an A+ rank on every mission was much easier than I anticipated. Now to wait for the sequel...

For Vita. So, last night I figured I should probably check it out before the E3 sale ends since it's pretty much the only Vita game with a decent discount. I watched the GiantBomb quick look and thought it looked alright but not really my kind of game. Then today I remember it and go "Wait, no, that looked totally sweet!" and went to buy it. I don't know what's wrong with me...

I do!

Looking back at the first page of this thread, it seems I never did get around to posting my gaming area. Better late than never, I suppose. Sorry about the potato quality, pic was taken with my Vita... Pretty basic setup. My fat PS3 and ugly-ass PC both hooked up to my monitor. On the shelf is a little over half of my PS3 collection as well as all my Vita games. I still have a stack of DS games but nothing to play them on at the moment so they're hidden away somewhere with my PS2 games. Having limited shelf space sucks. I used to have a shitload more for PS3 but I sold a lot of them over the years, usually because I needed money for Steam sales. I tend to only hold onto exclusives, everything else I always end up rebuying on Steam sooner or later, anyway...

I was already considering buying it day one (making it the first fighting game I ever buy at full price) and I just saw Amazon.ca has some E3 discounts on pre-orders. It was down to 50 bucks so while I'm still not 100% sure I'll get it at launch, I figured I might as well lock that price down now and just cancel it if I change my mind. Disgaea 4 and DanganRonpa 2 have been pre-ordered for months but I don't think I ever posted them. Anyway, they were both also discounted but for some reason my orders didn't update to reflect the lower price. I don't know if Amazon's lower price guarantee is just slow to kick in or what but I cancelled and re-ordered them both just to be safe. Probably for the better since my credit card expired this month and I completely forgot to update the info for past orders.

Was on sale on GMG a couple days ago, used my leftover credit and ended up paying about 3 bucks. Now I just have to actually put some time into it before Beyond Earth comes out.
-
Yeah, this is such a major mistake to make that it's kind of hilarious. But now I'm tempted to never buy it or FFX HD purely out of spite. Don't play games with my heart, damnit.

Then I really wonder how retouched it'll actually be because I can't imagine PSP graphics will look very good on PS4 and Xbone. edit: uh, looks like SE's press release made no mention of Vita and now they edited the blog post to only mention PS4. So, I guess it's not coming to Vita then? Um, fuck you?

Well shit, better late than never! http://blog.us.playstation.com/2014/06/10/final-fantasy-type-0-hd-coming-to-ps-vita/#sf3255743 I honestly never expected it to happen. I kinda feel bad for the fan-made translation patch that literally just came out a few days ago.

Man, Sony kinda dropped the ball. They're the only ones that bored us with unnecessary statistics and media bullshit. At some point I started worrying that it would end without Uncharted. But still, they wasted 30mins on bullshit and still had the best reveals. Grim Fandango on Vita is going to be soooo good!

It looks like the only thing that worked was the multiplayer. How many times have they scrapped and restarted this project that we know of? At least twice? Last time it was called Patriots or something. The demo was really cool but no multiplayer game is ever this coordinated in my experience, so I can't really get excited for it.

Well, yeah. I don't think Platinum have a single major hit to their name, sadly. Their biggest is most likely Rising and the Metal Gear brand probably had more to do with it.
-
Blood Dragon would completely steal the show from Far Cry 4 so I really doubt it. Was AC Comet ever confirmed?
-
Probably The Division again? It was weird how they showed two of their biggest games at the Microsoft presser, yeah. Definitely Far Cry. Maybe an actual announcement? I'm not getting my hopes up.
-
So far this has been fairly boring. I guess it's up to Sony to once again save E3? Or maybe Ninte-hahahahaahahahahaha!
-
Lol. Tried to sign up for the Hardline beta but battlefield.com died pretty much instantly. But man, that sure was an underwhelming press conference. Did they actually formally announce anything?
-
Seriously, at this point I'm wondering why they even bothered having a presser.
-
Man, so much early behind-the-scenes crap and it's only one hour? I'm really getting the impression they had very little to actually show...
-
Gahahaha, fucking nothing from Bioware. Not even titles or announcements. Guess EA needed something to fill out that hour? Jesus, what a joke.
-
So sports, Battlefield, Mirror's Edge, Dragon Age... what else? Mass Effect, maybe?
-
I don't know, man. I've come to really enjoy the intense levels of awkwardness E3 brings out of these companies. They somehow managed to not once mention TV, Netflix or Twitter. That's a little bit disappointing.
-
Well, I was right about the Platinum exclusive. Looked kinda weird, though. That was basically Dante in all but name and it gave off a weird Monster Hunter vibe. Looks like it might not be my kind of game at all. Otherwise, Tomb Raider is the biggest one for me. Oh and that Inside game from the Limbo guys looked pretty interesting. Will be grabbing that one when it inevitably comes to PC.

I wasn't aware the PS2 Classics version ran better, thanks for the heads up. From what I heard, the slowdown on PS2 was pretty bad. I'd still prefer a Rebirth kinda remake for Vita but if it runs better then maybe I'll check it out anyway. Fuck, now I kinda regret not getting it when it was five bucks a few weeks ago...

Dragon's Crown. Finished my first playthrough on normal. It seems there's a story context for NG+ for the next two difficulties but you're just redoing the second half of the game all over again so I'm counting it as beaten. So yeah, it's a really great brawler-RPG hybrid. This was my second Vanillaware game and they've yet to disappoint. I'm not sure which one I loved the most. I'm a big fan of Japanese period settings like Muramasa had and that game also had a vaguely metroidvania structure, which I'm all about. Then you've got Dragon's Crown which is kinda grindy and repetitive. You're essentially replaying the same 9 levels over and over again (although they all have a second route that opens up halfway through). But man, that gameplay is pure fun. It just never gets boring or tedious. I don't think I'll be putting this one down anytime soon. Also, as expected, the art direction is absolutely gorgeous. It's the usual Vanillaware visuals but they also really nailed the old-school fantasy setting. If you've ever looked at a D&D monsters manual, you'll recognize a bunch of really cool ones. There's a beholder and even fucking owlbears! I really need to play their other games now. I remember hearing rumors about both Odin Sphere and Muramasa getting HD remakes a few years ago and Muramasa turned out to be true so I really hope Odin Sphere Rebirth will be a thing in the near future. My Vita needs it.
