Okay at this point P4G is essentially confirmed. People have found the game's logo hosted on the Steam servers as well as, I shit you not, the game's Denuvo support page. Putting Denuvo in an 8 year old game sure sounds like Atlus. That alone would've convinced me lol. Let's fucking goooo!
-
Oh god, I was only thinking about the extra content. I completely forgot that you can't control your party members in P3 lmao. I'd still take FES over Portable but yeah, P3 is in DIRE need of a new, definitive version.
-
Yeah lol. Also, P4G rumors are intensifying. As far as I'm aware, Ahmad has a decent track record for these things. I saw something about P3 as well but that's coming from someone else who I'm not familiar with that people are saying isn't reliable. If P3 is also happening though, I fucking hope it's not gonna be the Portable version because that would be a huge bummer. If they're not compiling a new definitive edition that includes the extra Portable content while restoring the original presentation, then I honestly would rather just they port P3 FES.

It's Atlus and PC we're talking about here. Even the most sensible expectation (like, say, Persona 5 Royal coming to PC) is completely ridiculous optimism lol. Honestly, this looks like they MIGHT finally be getting their heads out of their asses about releasing on PC (thank god Catherine Classic sold well enough) and if that's really the case then I think P5 is basically guaranteed to come sooner or later. But knowing Atlus and how backwards they can be about, well... everything, the only thing I'm allowing myself to hope for from this event is P4G and Catherine: Full Body. And if and when P5 does come, I half expect some Persona 5 Classic bullshit because Atlus gonna Atlus lol.

I don't know if you've seen my post in the Falcom thread a few weeks ago about Durante teasing things he knows are coming in the next few years. Well, on the same forum where he mentioned that, he's been conspicuously liking posts mentioning Persona (I know for a fact he's not really a fan of the series), so you could read into that if you wanted to be optimistic. ? If we are getting a Persona game, I really hope it's P5 because I want to play it already. I would double dip P4G in a heartbeat, though. I think it's literally the last game justifying my Vita's existence at this point. And yeah, no way it's P6. Not when they can still milk P5 with a few more years of spin-offs.

I refuse to get my hopes up. Realistic prediction: it's just going to be Persona 5 Scramble, that Koei Tecmo/Omega Force musou.

So since yesterday there's been very strong rumors that a Bloodborne PS5 remaster is coming and will include a PC release. Bullshit Bloodborne PC rumors have been making the rounds for years but this time it's being corroborated by a few insiders with good track records. Seems it was meant to be revealed at the now postponed PS5 event yesterday, so it shouldn't be too long until we find out if it's true. Normally I'd be skeptical as hell, but with Horizon coming all bets are off. A lot of people have been hinting that more was coming and, with From's following, Bloodborne is a prime candidate for a PC release. Also, I knew a PC release was inevitable the minute I decided to bite the bullet and suffer through playing it on PSNow. So yeah, you're all welcome.

Where did you even hear that? I had no idea either lol. I love it because it's how I always interpret those kinds of mechanics in shooters. For example, I've always viewed regenerating health in something like Call of Duty as getting shot while wearing bulletproof gear rather than the Wolverine-like healing people would often complain about. ------ Oh and while I'm here, today was the day.

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)
toxicitizen replied to toxicitizen's topic in Multi-Platform Games
Don't the Crossbell games have fairly long scripts? If it's all being done by the same crew then I could see Hajimari + Crossbell taking a few years. Also, unless I missed the announcement (entirely possible, I've been pretty checked out on gaming the past few weeks) I don't think Ys IX has been confirmed for an english release yet. Anything non-Falcom, your guess is as good as mine. Basically anyone could've hired PH3. I'm not getting my hopes up for Persona, though. I've honestly given up on that. -

Could be anything. Could be NISA (and by extension PH3) just got a few more games from Falcom... ? -
Oh, nice. Actually looked to see if there was an online version of the game and couldn't find anything, although I didn't look that hard. I've been playing Jackbox with friends every friday night since the quarantine began so this might be a fun alternative to mix things up.

Seeing Animal Crossing all over the internet for the past couple weeks has made me finally get around to trying My Time at Portia a few days ago and holy crap, I had no idea what I was getting into. Despite buying Stardew Valley at launch, I never actually played it so I was not prepared for how much of a time blackhole these kinda games are. It's only been like 4 days and I've already put almost 30 hours into it. The way you constantly have a short-term goal you're working directly towards and a long-term goal you're always thinking about is so fucking addictive that there's always one more little thing I wanna do before turning the game off and I inevitably end up playing for an extra hour or two without even realizing it. If I never post again, it's not the virus that got me. Just assume I forgot to eat and starved because of this goddamn game.

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)

I guess we technically are right now but not for long lol. Some quick googling tells me Zero Kai is coming later this month, Ao Kai in May and Hajimari is also set for this year. So we'll very soon be 3 games behind... -

I don't see how it could be a joke, tbh. Everyone is expecting them to release it, doing a "prank" announcement would just piss people off and at this point they need all the goodwill they can get. Plus, given current circumstances, any kind of April's fool joke is kind of in bad taste. Good to see PC acknowledged right away this time. I'm tempted to get CSIII now that I've canceled my RE3 pre-order but I just can't quite pull the trigger. I need to do CSII NG+ anyway and I'm still hoping we get those Crossbell remasters. Plus I'm still kinda not feeling video games but maybe a long-ass JRPG is what I need to lose myself into right now. Kinda kicking myself for missing that launch week edition, though. Some of those bonuses are no longer available, I think... ? edit: Yeah, gonna go with real. -
Games You've Bought Episode MMXX: Revenge of the Backlog
toxicitizen replied to MetalCaveman's topic in General Gaming Chat
Ended up refunding the pre-order. I'm having a hard time justifying paying full price for games these days and while the review scores don't really bother me (80 is by no means low lmao), what I've been hearing about the shorter campaign (and there's only one), plus Nemesis being mostly relegated to scripted encounters, makes me feel like this is one where it might be wiser to wait for a sale. I'd love to take that money and put it towards Doom instead but, unless I want a Bethesda launcher key (lol), then I'm locked into paying 80$ on Steam. So yeah, more backlog while I wait for sales, I guess! Maybe Humble Choice on friday will have something interesting... -

Well, at least COVID doesn't turn people into flesh-eating zombies or horribly mutated monsters.... yet. -

Haven't bought ( or played, really) a game in a couple months, so I figured I just wasn't going to get Resident Evil 3 at launch. Then yesterday I figured what the hell and played the demo. Yeah lol, I don't know who I thought I was kidding. Gonna be weird as fuck playing this in the middle of a global viral pandemic, though. I'm honestly a little surprised they didn't delay it considering how sensitive people tend to be about these things. Smaller, more isolated tragedies are often enough to postpone even just a trailer for a violent game. But nah, let's launch this game about a literal deadly viral outbreak right now! ? -
Is it really, though? From what I've been hearing, it sounds like games like Hades sold more on Steam in a week than they did on the EGS in a year. There's no exact numbers so it's hard to say if the investment was ultimately worth it for Epic or not but I don't think it's been quite the resounding success Epic would like us to believe. Not with the way devs seem super eager to jump ship as soon as the exclusivity deals are up. The deals also seem to have slowed down significantly, to the point where I honestly don't remember the last one that actually bothered me. Most of the recent ones have been smaller indie or niche titles that I'd never even heard of or just didn't give a shit about. I think the last major one for me is still Control and that was over half a year ago. You're right that a lot of consumers are impatient but I think those are the ones most likely to say fuck it and get the console in the first place and maybe even double dip once the PC release comes around. My point was that porting a few games here and there isn't going to convince PC-only gamers to jump ship to Playstation. There's a reason why late ports like Bayonetta, Vanquish, Yakuza and Catherine have been doing fairly well for SEGA.
-
Porting Bloodborne would basically be free money, though. It's guaranteed to sell gangbusters on PC (like every other From game), which it sure as shit no longer is on PS4. It probably wouldn't generate an insane amount of profit but it's certainly a great candidate if they're looking to put a strong foot forward in the PC space. Plus, you just know it's going to be the most requested title now that the flood gates are open. And let's be real, people that didn't buy a PS4 to play Horizon likely aren't going to buy a PS5 to play Horizon 2, especially not if they have reason to think it'll come to PC a few years down the line. I know I won't. I mean, I'm sure they expect to sell some hardware but I don't think this is their sole goal in doing this. I wouldn't be surprised if they required a PSN account and eventually had their own launcher. Selling ports and remasters each gen is all well and good but porting their games to PC after a couple years is a great way to keep them generating revenue for years to come with a one-time, minimal development effort. If Microsoft can see this then so can Sony. Also, I've seen that quote and the "put a few minds at ease" part kinda makes me think they might just be paying lip service to the rabid fanboys. I'm sure they're aware of how their audience can be, I mean, they're the ones that cultivated it... Either way, at the very least it'll be interesting to see which titles make the jump and which don't. If it wasn't for folks like Jason Schreier confirming that more titles will be coming, I would honestly just assume Horizon is happening because of the work Kojima Production did on the Decima engine with the Death Stranding port.

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)
toxicitizen replied to toxicitizen's topic in Multi-Platform Games
Don't know if I care to try the demo, tbh. I don't think I'll even be buying the game at launch. It's coming in just a couple weeks and I'm just not ready to jump into that kind of game. I still need to finish Witcher 3 Blood & Wine, which I haven't touched in a few weeks. I'm still not sure if I'll get RE3 at launch. I dunno, I just kinda don't want to spend money on games lately. At least, not full priced AAA kinda money. I did just buy all those Konami collections on Humble cause they were only 5 bucks a piece... I was tempted by that physical edition NISA has on their store. But it's 99.99 USD and I went to checkout just to get an idea of what shipping would be and it's another 50 USD lmao. So that's a big nope. -

The only reason I've been able to get through so many is I tend to get tunnel vision when I set my mind to something like this lol. I cancelled Netflix and, other than a quick Picross session the other night, I haven't played any video games in like two weeks. It's been good for me, though, even in ways I didn't expect. Turns out going to bed with a book makes it easier to fall asleep than staring at a computer screen until the last minute. Who could've guessed?!

Oh hey, didn't realize we even had this thread. I started reading again this month (or back in January, I guess) and this time I actually managed to stick with it and have been burning through books at a pretty brisk pace. Last time I tried, I was reading Metro 2033 which was alright but not exactly incredible since I ended up never finishing it. What got me started was wanting to read the Witcher books because of both the Netflix show and Witcher 3. I read the first one on my phone, which is a short story collection and then moved on to Neuromancer, which I had bought with google play credits a while ago. I also read Annihilation because I loved the movie and those sequels sure as shit aren't getting movie adaptations and wow, that went in a different direction. I enjoyed all three although Neuromancer was more of a bummer than I expected it to be and Annihilation was kinda... I dunno, just weird. At this point, I decided I didn't like reading on my phone, so I ordered some stuff from Amazon. I wanted to try out some fantasy and heard about this Brandon Sanderson guy. Read his first book Elantris, since it was standalone and I didn't feel like committing to a 5+ book long epic thing. I really enjoyed it and I'm eager to read more of his stuff now since it's supposed to only get better from here. After that was Ender's Game which I finished last night and wow, I was not prepared for how much I would end up loving this one. It starts out slow and eventually it becomes clear that it's not going to pick up any kind of speed. It kept getting more and more interesting as it progressed but I was not prepared for those last two chapters. Man, what an ending. I'm half curious to check out the movie now but I can't imagine it's going to work anywhere near as well. After I finished it, I immediately ordered the sequel (along with the "sequel" to Neuromancer) and the first three Wheel of Time books, because I'm stupid like that. Holy fuck, they are some thicc bois. These three could probably last me over a month all on their own. I'm gonna be reading this series all year, aren't I?
-
Oh, definitely. I remember this one tweet from last month, when Cyberpunk was delayed and people were naively going "Whatever it takes to avoid crunch!" And this guy was in QA. I don't even want to imagine how much worse it was for artists, coders and the others actually making the game.

Why settle for selling infinite copies every 5 years when you can sell infinite copies every 2 years or so? It really doesn't work like that and companies like Rockstar only sell that well because they can afford to take their sweet ass time making these unrealistically massive and polished games. But publishers can be a special kind of stupid in their greedy pursuit of more money. They would rather tank a brand prematurely for short term profit rather than maintain a stable, reliable source of infinite money. So yeah, none of this is surprising to me. I don't think this is necessarily related to the Dan Houser thing, though. I read that he had been away for a few months before leaving and I can kinda see how taking some time off from a company like Rockstar could make someone not want to return to the endless crunch. Especially when they're as filthy rich as I assume Dan Houser to be.
