A multiplayer-focused Resident Evil spin-off? What could possibly go wrong... Although, to be fair, Capcom have kinda been on fire the past few years. So who knows? Maybe the third time will be the charm.

That one is giving me Sekiro flashbacks...

Monster Hunter: World It took me over a year to get back to it but I finally finished the main story. The only reason I put it off for so long is because getting back into it seemed like it would require some amount of work but it all came back to me pretty quickly and I was actually fairly close to the ending, at least in terms of how many main story missions I had left. It still took me an extra 40 hours because I had to grind for new gear twice by the time I was at the actual final mission but that's just how the game goes. I think I could just wait for Iceborne now but I'm gonna keep playing because there's still some cool armor I could upgrade to and some DLC monsters I haven't tried yet. I haven't fought any tempered monsters either, so I have that nightmare to look forward to as well. But yeah, this game is pretty great! Almost makes me sad I missed out on the series for all those years. Only "almost" because from what I understand World introduced a huge amount of QoL improvements and I'm not sure I want to bother with a shittier version of this tbh. Especially not one that was made for the 3DS lol. I don't know if this opinion would be controversial to long-time fans but I kinda hope they stick with World going forward and never go back to handheld exclusivity because this series is way too good for that and I really don't want to have to skip the next game because it's only available on Switch. I probably don't have anything to worry about, though, since this somehow became Capcom's best-selling title of all time in just a single year.

Yakuza 7 finally gets an official announcement and title! In a surprising twist, the game is dropping all pretense and switching to turn-based combat. Guess that April's fools thing wasn't a joke after all. It was already basically a JRPG in all but combat so it seems like a fitting change to me. People don't seem too happy about it, though lol. But if RGG Studio can make games good enough that I can play 3 of them in a single year, for almost 100h each, and not feel burnt out on the series at all, then I'm willing to trust them blindly on pretty much anything. This change also makes a lot of sense when you consider that they now have Judgment for the brawler gameplay. It's also been confirmed for western release in 2020 as Yakuza: Like a Dragon, dropping the number and replacing the subtitle with the Japanese name of the series. Not sure what they're going for exactly but this actually bugs me more than the combat change lol. I guess they're treating it as a reboot of sort but I'm not sure why.

Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

So there's this build-your-own-bundle Bandai Namco sale over on Humble and uh, I was already tempted when I saw I could get both of those (and a season pass for Tekken) for like 30 bucks. Then I realized that I could actually bring the price down even further by adding cheap games like Tales of Symphonia and some Pac-Man thing to max out the discount. In other words... -

I recently realized that 2019 has pretty much been the Year of Capcom for me. Things started off with Onimusha remastered and RE2 back in January, then DMC 5 in March and Okami HD at the start of the summer and I finally got into Street Fighter V a couple weeks ago. So I figured it was as good a time as any to get back into Monster Hunter World and at least finish the main story. Well, turns out I basically picked the worst possible point in the game to stop because on top of having to relearn the game and refamiliarize myself with all the maps, I stopped at the quest where you finally go hunt Nergigante. And holy shit, that motherfucker can fuck you up. I had to farm a bit to get a new armor set and weapon because my old gear just wasn't cutting it and even then it still took me like half a dozen tries. I don't remember any other monster up to this point giving me that much trouble lol. Felt great to finally slay him, though, even if I mostly just got lucky. No idea how much more there is to go but I think I'm hooked again. Iceborne isn't coming out on PC until January, so I've got plenty of time to finish the story and do all the event quests.

Do we have any RedLetterMedia fans here? Because if not then I guess no one will get this but I was lucky enough to go to a very special screening last night. One of the smaller theaters in town managed to arranged a screening for Neil Breen's latest film Twisted Pair! It actually came out last year, so I'm not exactly sure how it came to be but I'm just glad I not only finally got to see it, I saw a fucking Neil Breen movie in an actual movie theater! And it was everything I wanted it to be and more. I'm not sure what happened but it was his most coherent film so far. The fact that very little actually happens in it probably has something to do with it. Anyway, if you have no idea what I'm talking about here's a trailer that will no doubt leave you with many questions. Oh and shout out to the fucking moron that sat in the row right in front of us. Everyone in the audience was laughing and cracking jokes during the movie but you were the only one that was painfully unfunny and annoying as shit. The first time you screamed "ZA WARUDO!!1!" wasn't funny but when you said it for the tenth fucking time it took all my goddamn restraint not to kick you in the back of the head!

I'm indifferent on motion blur and rarely turn it off unless it's egregiously bad, most times I honestly don't really notice it. I can't say I remember ever being bothered by chromatic aberration either (or any other post-processing effects that people complain about like lens flares, DOF, bloom, film grain, etc). As with anything they can be misused, but in the hands of a good art team they can add a touch of realism to an image that I'll usually like.

Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

Yeah, I only got it to play through the story stuff real quick and move on to the later, better games. I mean, since I have the option of starting at the very first game then why the hell not? I'll play on easy if I have to lol. Update: Holy fuck, you weren't kidding. I just played through arcade mode with Sol and it was the most infuriating fucking horseshit. The final boss simply does not play by the same rules as you, even by fighting game standards. I'd win a round once in a while and the next one it would just go fucking APESHIT and take away like 70% of my health within seconds of the next round's start. I only managed to beat him by using completely abusive, spammy corner tactics. And even then it still took multiple attempts and no small amount of luck. I mean, I spent all week playing Street Fighter V and unlearning all my bad, button-mashy habits and just like that this game brought me back to square fucking one. And I think there's something fucked with the input processing because half the times my specials wouldn't come out and my super was basically impossible to do despite being only a half-circle motion. And to be fair, I play Ryu so I haven't really practiced half-circle motions all that much but I actually used training mode for, well, training and at this point I can do a flawless quarter-circle in my fucking sleep. SO YOU CAN FUCK RIGHT OFF WITH THAT "HUR HUR GUESS YOU MESSED THAT UP" FUCKING BULLSHIT, GUILTY GEAR!!!!!! I don't even know if I want to play the other characters lmao. I was super close to just giving up and was actually thinking I might be tempted to refund the game if I had bought it directly through Steam. Jesus fucking Christ... -
Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

Summer sale over on Fanatical and I noticed there was a pretty good discount on Guilty Gear 2, so I grabbed it along with the first one because why the hell not. It's pretty cool that they went back and ported the original Guilty Gear to PC. And for some reason Guilty Gear 2 isn't a fighting game but some weird 3D action/RTS hybrid that was originally exclusive to the Xbox 360. My expectations aren't very high... Anyway, I swear I'm done buying fighting games now! -
Man, imagine having such a shit year. First you get snapped into dust by a purple scrotum man and then you get brought back only to end up getting stuck under Sony's creative control again. RIP Spider-boy.

Lol for me it's usually the opposite. I started Wolfenstein II a couple weeks ago and even though I really enjoyed what I played so far, I just never really feel like playing it. So I'm stuck between forcing myself to finish it or uninstalling it because it's taking like 60GBs on my SSD. For me, it's only when I fully embraced the thrill of the hunt that MHW finally clicked. Like, not just the combat but every aspect of it including preparation and tracking. So instead of getting annoyed every time a monster would run away, I was now a predator stalking its prey and the hunt was on again. Also if another monster starts fucking with your hunt, you can throw poop at them and they'll leave. 10/10 Oh and since you mentioned multiplayer, just in case this might have contributed to you not enjoying the game, keep in mind that health doesn't really scale when doing co-op. So a monster that I could kill in like 15mins solo would take forever to kill with my friend (even though it was his hunt and I had WAY better gear than him) because it still had like triple health even though it was only the two of us. So co-op could end up being more tedious than solo since it's weirdly balanced only for 4 players or whatever the max is. IIRC the upcoming expansion is introducing proper scaling. Speaking of the expansion, I really need to get back to the game and finish the campaign before it comes out. I got pretty far into it but got distracted by other games and just never went back to it...

I had a blast playing solo and it's even more fun in co-op but yeah, that shit is pretty weird to set up. Figuring out how to play with my friend was way more trouble than it should've been. And I can't say I'm incredibly surprised that you didn't like it considering how you feel about Dark Souls. They're not really similar but they definitely scratched the same itch for me. All I can say is it didn't click immediately for me so it might be worth giving it a few more hours just in case.

Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

The 6 bucks thing? I got it through the new Xbox app on Windows 10 but I imagine you can just get it from the website. I think it's only for new subs, though. You can also just get 1 month for 1$ and I think there was also a deal for Ultimate Game Pass, which includes Xbox live, but I don't have an Xbox so I didn't get that. -
Well, the Yakuza 3-4-5 remasters are FINALLY confirmed for western release. PS4 only for now but I imagine it's only a matter of time before they're announced for PC.

Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

Don't know if it counts as a purchase but I subbed to that Gamepass on PC beta. There was a promo to get 3 months for like 6 bucks and last night there was an Alienware giveaway for a free month code (you got 2 months if you turned on autorenew when activating the code). So I may have grabbed a few codes and now have Gamepass until May 2020. For 6 bucks. There's not actually a ton on it that I want to play (and most things I'd honestly still rather just own on Steam), but at the very least this is a pretty cheap way for me to play Gears of War 4 and 5. I'm curious to try 5 since it's coming to Steam but I'm not spending 80 bucks on part 5 of a series I have basically no investment in and no desire to play multiplayer on. -
I only watched like half of the stream highlights video vinesauce put out yesterday and the salt was basically pouring out of the screen. I don't think my blood pressure could handle that game...

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)

Well, I mean, if it results in the games selling more than 15 copies then that's definitely something... -

Well, that's a convenient way to see if you're one of the lucky ones where your PC wins the "can it run" lottery without having to fuck around with a refund. But yeah to be fair, say what you will about the quality of their work but their marketing in general has been fairly good. -

Only when you're matched up against someone of relatively equal skill. When you're fighting someone so far above your level that you essentially feel like your controller stopped working, it's so fucking infuriating lol. -
Games You've Bought: Super Turbo 2019 Edition

It's currently free to play on Steam, so I installed it and got instantly hooked. Ended up buying the bundle that comes with the first two seasons of characters. ASW's games always appealed to me more on a superficial level but I haven't actually played a SF since Turbo HD Remix and it's way more fun than I remembered. I'm also somewhat holding my own online! No doubt I'm getting matched up against other scrubs and I still lose more than I win but losing is still pretty fun when most fights are super close. -
Hey, good on Lab Zero for actually listening when people told them their regional pricing was fucked. At least this is roughly equivalent to the price in USD. Was it updated for your region @MetalCaveman ?

Dragon Ball FighterZ Picked it back up earlier this week and finished the story mode as well as cleared all the arcade courses, so I guess that counts. Story mode is alright, I guess. It's basically just an excuse to do a bunch of fights and explain why Yamcha is able to fight the Saiyans without getting immediately vaporized. They throw in some light RPG mechanics but they don't really affect things all that much. It's super repetitive and needlessly long, though, so you really have to enjoy the fighting game part to get anything out of it. It's not like the recent Mortal Kombat games where it's almost like a movie with interactive fight scenes. The real game begins now, though: getting gud. Aka getting endlessly destroyed online. If I can find a match, that is. I don't know if the game is supposed to have good netcode or what but I tried playing earlier and whenever I tried to get online the game would just go idle while trying to find a lobby (the opening demo video would literally start playing after a while). After that I'd get a network error and would have to try again. Hopefully this was an isolated incident...

Why does this work so well?!?
