  1. Today in "shit nobody ever asked for" news, apparently there's going to be a live-action Mob Psycho 100 series co-produced by Netflix. The only response I have is
  2. From this interview I love this crazy man. Never change, Yoko Taro.
  3. So, first you buy a PS4 and now you play mainstream games? Seriously, did your account get hacked months ago and we've been talking to a different person??? What the hell is up with you, man?
  4. Lol I knew you'd miss my edit above, I should've just double posted. It's just you and me in here anyway, it's basically a glorified chat room at this point.
  5. Gonna assume that's an early 2018 for the PC version. Hopefully Ys VIII doesn't slip to 2018 because the last thing I need is for these two and Cold Steel 2 to all come out at the same time.
  6. Early impressions seem to be that it's better than the original, which I loved, so I couldn't resist. I was already considering getting it as a late birthday present for myself, anyway. I also keep forgetting to play spooky games for October, so it's coming at the perfect time to correct that.
  7. Just finished My Hero Academia Season 2. It continues to be great and I certainly enjoyed having twice as many eps to watch (even though I ended up watching them faster) but the season was weirdly uneven. First half was great but the second half didn't have anywhere near the same momentum and then just kind of ended on nothing. I have no knowledge of the manga and what comes directly next, though, so for all I know this was the most logical way to break it up. Anyway, not sure what to watch next. I still need to watch Attack on Titan S2 but I feel like I need to rewatch S1 first and I'm not quite ready to do that just yet. Crunchyroll have been adding a ton of Funimation shows lately, though, so it's not like I don't have options. It's almost starting to feel like when you're just staring at the hundreds of title in your Steam library and thinking "I don't have anything to play..."
  8. Yeah, for the new localization we'll see. I'm a little skeptical they can actually turn it into XSEED-level quality in such a short time frame. But the port will be almost 3 months late by the end of November. That should be plenty of time to fix it, it better be fucking solid. edit: PC version update. Not coming until mid-December and NISA have reached out to Durante lol. I kinda figured they had because I'm friends with him on Steam and he was mysteriously playing the game the day right after they announced the delay lol. I imagine that between CS1 patches and the CS2 port his plate is pretty full right now, so he's likely only involved in a consulting capacity.
  9. NISA apologizes for their awful Ys VIII localization. This actually seems like a huge deal. They're having a new editor and translator essentially go over the entire script to fix it and will be rerecording voicework as necessary. The new localization will be a free update on PS4 and Vita and they say it will be included at launch on Steam. They're saying this should be out at the end of November, so the clear implication here is that the PC port isn't coming for at least another month and a half lmao. Such a massive localization patch seems like an unprecedented move. I can't help but feel like they caught some massive flak from Falcom over this. Apparently there was even Japanese media coverage of their shitty localization, so the negative reactions definitely reached Falcom. I want to say good on them for fixing this (since I never expected them to actually do it), but my guess is they were probably forced into it. Hopefully this means they'll never get their hands on a Falcom game again. On the bright side, the PC version delay kinda feels like a bit of a blessing in disguise now...
  10. 2017 is already the Year of Falcom, but holy fuck if we get a Crossbell announcement on top of everything else! Also, Zwei store page is live. Knowing XSEED, that probably means we can expect a release within a month or so.
  11. OH MY GOD!!!! Apparently, this was very briefly changed to this
  12. I love Foo Fighters but this one took a few listens before it started growing on me. Feels like I haven't listened to new Foo Fighters in forever, though. I think I might have missed an album between this new one and the last one I listened to. Should probably look into that.
  13. Most game journalists have their jobs because of their writing/journalistic abilities, not their gaming skills. And, honestly, that's how it should be. I'll take that over the fucking shit show we currently have with a lot of YouTubers. If you're gonna accuse the guy of being bad at his job, don't do it for his inability to work out a simple tutorial. Do it for how his article initially attributed Cuphead to Team Meat. Failing to do a 5 seconds wikipedia fact check is the real journalistic offense here.
  14. Oh, definitely. I'm used to waiting between seasons from western TV, so if anything it's the shonens that run all year long that I find fucking weird. And I'll generally just straight up avoid watching series that I know ended abruptly or had to do their own ending. I'd much rather have a shorter but consistently strong (and faithful) season each year than have it run all year long but with two thirds of it being worthless fucking garbage the showrunners pulled out of their ass. That was a big part of what made me lose interest in big series like Bleach and Naruto (and ultimately anime in general) a decade ago.
  15. I was hoping to finish season 2 of Ghost in the Shell SAC before Academia ended but I guess I was way too slow in watching it. Fuck holding off, though. I've been looking forward to jumping back into Academia way too much. Gonna start binging it later today. Also, it sounds like they've already confirmed season 3. More anime studios should be this fast in announcing these things. Seriously, what the fuck is up with Mob Psycho season 2 and Vento Aureo????
  16. That seems to be a recurring issue Falcom run into with this series. Almost makes you wonder if their problem maybe lies in the planning phase. As for the cliffhanger, all I'll say is I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as Trails in the Sky FC.
  17. Went to see It tonight. I'm a huge Stephen King fanboy so I was really looking forward to seeing it. It's not very scary and kinda fails at building tension but I still thoroughly enjoyed it. It's a pretty solid movie that ends up working more as a kid-friendly kind of horror. Think something like Gremlins or a darker version of Stranger Things. Hopefully part 2 will be a bit more effective with its scares but I'm really looking forward to it regardless. Really curious to see who they're gonna end up casting for the adults.
  18. That was a hell of a risky click lol. I had heard the opposite last week but I took a quick peek at the Kiseki community thread on GAF just now and it sounds like it's pretty much confirmed. Man, the wait for CS2 PC and CS3 is going to be pure fucking torture. I mean, it already kinda is...
  19. No specific examples come to mind but I'm certain I've done something like this before. Actually one did just now. In Trails in the Sky, the way you set up your orbment actually affects which orbal arts you can cast. In Trails in the Sky the 3rd, I kept waiting to find the quartz that would let me cast one of the more advanced healing arts and only realized near the end of the game that I could've had it all along simply by fine tuning my setup a bit. Not my proudest moment... In my defense, the system was simplified in Cold Steel and you no longer have to fuck around with it like that. I just kinda forgot about it when going back to the Sky games.
  20. Cold Steel III is in a weird position where it's a sequel but the gap between CSII and CSIII was about as long as it usually is between subseries. I really wonder if we're looking at another ~3 years until the next arc starts. They've probably done a lot of the engine/tech groundwork with CSIII given how much of a jump in quality it is but I assume they won't be able to recycle assets as much as they normally would with a direct sequel set in the same country. We're looking at another 2 arcs, at the very least. I could see the series going for another decade, which would put me in my early 40s by the time it's over. O_o
  21. Well I guess I'm not entirely sure what you mean by like, then. Because yeah, I don't like the Gang in Always Sunny in the typical "I can relate and empathize with these characters", I just find it hilarious to watch all the awful things they do. And their plans certainly don't always fall apart, they often come out on top or just straight up bail when things become too inconvenient for them. More than a few people have had their lives significantly damaged or even ruined by encountering them. I watch Rick and Morty with a similar mindset. The only main characters I view as relatively normal are Morty and Summer. Jerry and Beth are just hilarious train wrecks and Rick is simply too entertaining for me to care how he's presented. I have a pretty dark sense of humor in the first place, so the darker the show gets the more I'm going to love it.
  22. Have you considered that maybe you're not supposed to like them? Out of curiosity, have you ever watched It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? I never considered Jerry to be anything but an insufferable little bitch, so it makes me laugh when he gets treated like one even by his kids. And this was the first time in a while that I was entertained by anything Beth did. The only other time I can remember her making me laugh was when This season's been on point as far as I'm concerned.
  23. Been in a movie watching mood lately and most of them were pretty great. Don't really feel like doing detailed reviews for each so I'm just gonna list them off with brief thoughts. Kingsman: I heard it was good but I was not prepared for just how awesome it would be. This is my kind of movie. Gonna have to try and go see the sequel soon. John Wick Chapter 2: I loved it even more than the first one. I love insane fight choreography so this might actually be my favorite action movie in a really long time. Baby Driver: I loved every single Edgar Wright film I've seen and this one was no different. The way all the action syncs up with the soundtrack is actually pretty impressive and must've been a bitch to film and edit. Car chase movies aren't usually my thing and the love story felt fake as hell but I still really enjoyed it. Never would've guessed Jon Hamm had it in him to be this much of a badass. Alien Covenant: I liked Prometheus so I was looking forward to this one. It starts out as a Prometheus sequel and slowly morphs into an Alien prequel. I liked it but I kinda wish it had stuck to its gun and not went "We gotta have the Xenomorph because people know the Xenomorph". The Witch: It's really, really good but after having a friend rave for months about how it was his favorite horror movie ever, I expected something a little different. This was one of those "I really liked it but I don't think I loved it" kinda movie for me. Independence Day Resurgence: The original ID was one of the first movie I saw in the theaters as a kid and it's been a long time guilty pleasure of mine. It's dumb as all living shit but I love it so goddamn much. This was pretty much the perfect sequel to it. It's every bit as dumb but it doesn't insult your intelligence as much, so I guess it's an improvement? The Neon Demon: Watched this one last night. It's from the director of Drive, although it couldn't be any more different (although it also has a fantastic soundtrack). This felt like a movie I should've found boring but I actually really loved it. There was something about it that was kind of mesmerizing in a really creepy way. Then it just kinda goes fucking nuts at the end. 10/10 I also finally watched Rogue One after two of my friends insisted it was great and added so much to A New Hope. LOL. No. It does not. It belongs in "Last Okay Movie You Saw" at best (and that's probably being generous) but fuck it, it doesn't deserve its own separate post so I'm just gonna shit on it here. The third act was cool but the first two bored the shit out of me. I also already knew how it ended so that removed a lot of the tension, especially given how fucking boring and bland most of the characters were. I really liked the two asian dudes and the droid but everyone else might as well have been cardboard cutouts. At this point I fucking dread the Han Solo movie.
  24. Came home last night to find out I won a copy of this so I needed to buy this and play it first I really lucked out on the timing because it just happened to be on sale over on Bundle Stars. I've been putting off getting it partially because I wanted to do a replay of the first one and get all the achievements first but fuck it.
