Well, today is the protest day. And, now the fight is heading to the labor board of Illinois. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/03/chick-fil-a-chicago-fallo_n_1737488.html It's just wasted time for our court system and more fodder for the press to inflate. News sites are reporting that CFA's brand recognition has grown by leaps and bounds. The chicken appreciation day was a huge success. Protesters are being jerks to the workers and it's getting recorded and re-blogged. CFA's have been vandalized here and there. And, CFA is not retaliating, but offering the protesters lemonade to refresh themselves in the hot summer sun. Really, the more the lady doth protest, the mo' money flows through the door, and CFA is starting to turn this into a golden opportunity. I'd say the plan of attack is really broken and needs to be re-thought.
  2. I picked up this gardening app. Going to give it a test spin and see what it has to offer, since it's free on Amazon today. Damn, I love free! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007TML2EK/ref=mas_ty
  3. You must be talking about that weenie at the gymnastics portion. He drives me nuts with his know-it-all attitude. I can totally see SNL doing a skit about him.
  4. They are showing the big stuff in primetime instead of live. So, where the US is going to medal, or supposed to medal, they are delaying those things. And, they are only showing the one channel of coverage, not the 4 or 5 regular channels that show events during the day.
  5. I'm with you, excel. There is no reason the fat kid always has to be the comedic relief or the born loser. That reminds me of Not Another Teen Movie when the character of one black guy says something along the lines of 'I'm just here to say neat phrases like bling-bling and...'. Shit's true. Fat guys gotta be The Fool instead of King Lear.
  6. I was just watching the same thing (makes sense since we are in the same time zone/area). He seemed out of sorts, but not sticking those landings really hurt him.
  7. Mitt the Twit? Is that what you are referring? If so, he deserves the criticism.
  8. Nice ceremony! Some of those countries you never even hear about until you see them at the Olympics, with just a few competitors that are long shots. The parade of nations is wonderful to be able to see the pride on people's faces. Let the games begin!
  9. Man, it seems like the stands were empty for the women's soccer. Either no ones cares about women's soccer or no one can afford a ticket. Maybe both?
  10. That looks cool in a uniquely serene way. The opening ceremonies were cool for the Beijing Olympics. I do hope London tries to one-up them.
  11. Mirror's Edge on the iPhone isn't nearly as clumsy as other iPhone games. I love it!

      HELLS YEAH!

And Punk did a great job acting, as usual. A big part of the reason he's good enough to headline. He can really sell it.

I smiled and laughed out loud by myself a lot while watching.

  13. No love for powerlifting? Shit is unreal!
  14. @ TheMightiestOfAllEthans: I think NBC has the rights to the Olympics in the US. ESPN is owned by Disney (ABC), so probably little-to-none. SportsNet and Bravo and a few others will be airing the Olympics, from what I have heard.
  15. Ive been watching all of the trials that I can. Mostly swimming and diving have been televised. Others, yes, but the lot of coverage I got to see was swimming. I'm going to have a blast watching as I do every four years. My favorite moment was Kerri Strug or Shrug, still confused about her last name, though I have read it many times. Her landing that vault with the severely jacked up ankle to take home the gold was emotional.
  16. What I learned on Yahoo! comments? 1. Obama's fault for half of everything wrong. 2. Illegals fault for another large chunk of everything wrong. 3. Hanging people is the solution to all problems. Yep.

But Obama is not white...therefore, everything is his fault.

True story: I was at my local card shop. Some guy bought fifteen packs of MTG: Worldwake (Which had a card that was worth 100 bucks). He didn't get the card in those fifteen packs. He was complaining about how he didn't have money. Some little kid then came up and bought on and got the card. The guy proceeded to scream "FUCKING SHIT. GODDAMNIT. I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR THE LAST ONE BECAUSE OF FUCKING OBAMA."

Dude was dead to rights serious in his screaming.

  17. My heart belongs nowhere. I cannot even love myself. WHY!? WHY DIDN'T YOU HUG ME, FATHER?!! The person below me has a coupon for 10% off the lap band if they call the 800 number by December 22nd.
  18. Not a PC gamer, and I have never played this one. However, Green Man Gaming has Beyond Divinity (2004?) for free if you have something called 'Capsule'. http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/us/en/pc/games/rpgs/beyond-divinity/
  19. This is one of the coffees that my better half enjoys. http://www.ednascoffee.com/ That coffee is very popular in Glendale were the Armenian population presides, for the most part, in the US. The stuff is like sludge in a cup. Keeps you awake and makes your hands shake. Not my thing, but pretty interesting stuff.
  20. Used fresh mint to make some Persian mint syrup and then made strawberry jam with the mrs. I feel like the fuckin' Waltons over here!

  21. This is the best place to rant about this: When someone calls from a potential employer, at least try to sound enthusiastic on the damn phone. I see your resume, and it looks fantastic. But, I'm not going to hire someone who is a debbie downer or a negative nancy. You don't have to be confident, just pretend to be, damn it.
  22. Not the school my kids go to. They require a lot of parent involvement. The parents basically run most of the school functions, the teachers are great (we get to know them and see them working with the kids almost daily), most of the faculty have kids going to the school, and the school is small enough where everyone knows each other. So, the classroom setting is unique. I think that the perception of private schools is what you see on TV, where the parent pays money and never sees the kid. In our school, the parent pays the school and then volunteers to help do maintenance at the school, work with the kids in study groups, and has to interact with everyone from the janitor to the principal, even during the summer break.
  23. Exactly why my kids go to private school. Sure, I'd rather save the money for retirement or a nice vacation or more than one new pair of pants every year (I tend to save money by not spending unless necessary or on sale, like yesterday at Rite Aid where an entire aisle was 75% off), but the public education system is not up to snuff. With the backbone of the higher paid workforce being an education, I need to give my kids that advantage. Kids first, then everything else.... unless we are talking about the government, who likes to over-regulate the dumbest shit in the world.
  24. My employer is in the fruit/vegetable/pet food business. Specifically, at our location, canning tomatoes, and, come the spring, zucchini! I have had the zucchini before, and it is actually a good product, so I'm excited about that.
