  1. It's not if you're going for a no kill no detection playthrough. Ar-Goh fuck yourself.
  2. I wish more games gave us interesting female/minority characters. Chell being my favorite. Usually the games I play where the character is a female doesn't have romance. I don't enjoy that sometimes the only way to have a strong female character is to have a wimpy male to contrast against her. But until gaming can afford to not cater to the lowest common denominator and do their own thing, we'll usually have male characters. My hopes for Kickstarter to eventually have enough of a crowd to crowd-fund large games are too hopeful but still...
  3. The difference is that one is intended to compete against the small tablets market, aka the Kindle Fire
  4. The Ice King is actually quite a complicated character. The crown has made him crazy with translates into Alzheimer's and bipolarity. He's no longer human but once in a while you see glimpses of his humanity, like when he started crying in yesterday's episode. I don't get why people hate him, his character has evolved a lot since the first few seasons where he was just bad. His search for a princess stems from his lost love when he was Simon.
  5. If we're going by quality, easiest method I can think of is reviews and awards. And his movies tend to have great reviews and are usually in the Academy Awards one way or the other. If you're talking about a movie snob's opinion who swears he knows better than everybody else then at the end of the day that's an opinion. Hell many awards are also the opinion of certain people.
  6. Well if the percentage was right after you choked them/sleep darted them then it'd be easy to see as an "unconscious" wouldn't be under their name. Quick reload and hope this time it doesn't happen.
  7. Just beat the game. While the series needs improvements before it can be considered one of the greats, it definitely has the right materials. They'll learn from complaints and make a better game. The story while not the best was satisfying enough. Emily was defis my favorite character.
  8. Yeah just saw it. It was really sad and touching, especially after I read through the wikia what I had just seen. Beautiful episode.
  9. Correct me if I'm wrong, and I'm almost sure I'm wrong, but is the reason lesbians is not as socially frowned upon in western societies because they're largely boys clubs?

What Fuchi said. I think it's because men are more insecure about their sexuality than women so women good, even gay ones, but gay men are bad because OMG! I could be turned! Or something to that effect.

Plus everyone likes boobs at least a little, so it's hard to blame them.

  10. Okay. I just don't understand why people like Ben Affleck's movies. They say nothing. They're just fucking stories. They're just fucking stories!!! It doesn't have incredibly compelling, iconic characters, locales, lines, gags and pacing like Back to the Future has, either. It fails structuralistically and formalistically! Why, why, why do you like Argo? Hrrrrngh. I could say "it's just a fucking story" about most movies, especially indie darlings. If you don't like them that's fine man, but movies are subjective. For the life of me I cannot see why people liked The King's Speech, but I'm biased since I used to stutter as a kid so it still brings painful memories to hear people laughing at that. If his movies ARE just stories, they're really well made stories. Critics and audiences agree [wow I just sounded like the previews guy when a movie is number one at the box office]
  11. It made sense. On the topic of choosing females for games I tend not to because I usually play RPG's. And rpg's tend to have customization and armor. And when that happens, I won't give you a statistical figure but I think we can agree a lot of the female armor is ridiculous. I feel both ashamed for the female community that their best armor is a metallic bra and for myself because I know that at the end of the day my perverted 20's mind would probably choose that specific armor. Dragon Age II took away my liberty of slutting up my npc's [to be fair, they were already slutty except for butch knight lady] and I both hated and liked that. In short I have male guilt but that wouldn't stop me from slutting up my female characters so I tend to stay away.
  12. Sorry Maritan but everybody here is right. You made a statement that I first thought was REALLY ignorant or sarcasm since you presented no evidence whatsoever and that word is usually thrown around by idiots who claim [blank] game is not as hard, therefore it has been made for the COD players. Tell us what you meant, but don't be surprised and [apparently] insulted that we're taking you what you said as simply generalizing and simplistic.
  13. I'm glad they listened to fans and made this episode badass. And Rick badass. And everybody not bitch. And Lori cry. It's like all my prayers were answered.
  14. So I went ahead and made a thread for this topic. It came into my mind recently after seeing people complain they didn't get to play as a woman in Dishonored so the statement by editors that the game "let's you choose how you want to play" was not entirely truthful. This brought forth a discussion that quickly boiled down to people insulting each other and some groups claiming they have a right to be represented as well. An example I would personally like to use is the FemShep supporters. While there is nothing wrong with using her, and by all means do since the option is present. I cannot agree with their claims that there should be more advertisement done with her as the center-piece. Statistically thinking more people play as BroShep so it is, in my honest opinion, the right decision to not take away commercials/ads with him to favor the smaller group. Another branch to this argument dealing with the Mass Effect series would be making the male Shepard homosexual. Personally in this case I can let them do it since the game is all about option and it doesn't force you to choose a relationship with a man. I was uncomfortable with the fact they chose that after 2 games where he showed no hints of being interested in males or even curious/unhappy with his sexuality that all of a sudden one piece of dialogue decides if your male Shepard is gay. Would it be statistically sound to make a game starring a lesbian over a gay male? I don't agree with it but unfortunately yes. The crowd video games, especially mature ones, tend to advertise and direct games to is still in their teens and early 20's. They like lesbians and feel uncomfortable with homosexual males. Personally if they made a game where the main character was a homosexual male and I didn't have an option to not pursue a relationship I would feel uncomfortable. As simple as that. Guys don't mind playing as females though. Not if the game was designed with a strong female lead. I would rather play as a Jade than a pre-reboot Lara Croft. I like strong women who don't feel the need to slut it up. More attractive. I'd argue that playing as a race minority isn't a problem either. Hollywood has shown, though less frequently that I would want, that a non-caucasian lead actor can do plenty good box-office wise. What are your thoughts? Any other recent example you can think of that applies to the topic?
  15. I don't know if there's a thread about this or if one should be made, but what do you guys feel about the topic of representing a statistical minority consumer more often in video games? Example I recently saw a woman complaining she didn't get to play Dishonored as a woman so she wasn't able to play it exactly as she wants.

I feel like there should be more games starring women, different races, and LGBT people. However, it can't be something you just throw in there; it has to fit your world. In Dishonored, the world recalls past periods of our own time, and women weren't allowed to do the same things men were. In that way, having a female Corvo just wouldn't work.

I saw that thread on Kotaku too, WaS.

I hate to be the one to tell you, but you, along with the rest of those people, got trolled pretty hard.

Basically, she insinuated it was sexist for there to be a male character in a work of fiction.

How did I get trolled? I simply agreed with the guy that said he's tired of statistical minorities saying they want to be represented more often.

  16. I can't argue against making the game more complex and the AI smarter. But to compare it to Metal Gear Solid is a little unfair. This game wasn't built entirely with stealth at the forefront, it was built with "Do it your way" in mind and I appreciate that. And either ways MGS brings stealth to a realistic setting. Plenty of stealth-based titles have weird AI or mechanics, like Splinter Cell [pre-jason bourne Sam Fisher] having enemies instantly know you're there because someone turned on the lights in a room or something similar. In those titles, and in Hitman from what I recall, people never wondered where their missing comrade was so they still had their exploits You basically had to make sure you hid the body. Having said that, the developers have a lot to learn but for this to be their first title in the [possible] game series it is astonishing they were able to bring forth such fond memories of Thief and Deus Ex and System Shock. This is their ACI, and hopefully if they ever make a game with the same title, they'll improve it as much as ACII was improved.
  17. Well enemies get more perceptive. I can't argue against the argument that the AI is very simplistic so they either know you're there for some bullshit reason or never see you even if you're jumping right behind them. But I wouldn't argue the game is easy if you're playing with a no-kill-at-all and harder difficulty mentality. Is it hard? Not really, but it's not easy either. Too easy, and AI is dumb. It actually gets better in the end, and I can say that I enjoyed the game, but again, this game is made for "halo/cod generation". I can't tell if you're being sarcastic with that last comment about the halo/cod generation so I won't retort until I make sure if you were serious or not.
  18. I wanna watch both Argo and Seven Psychopaths [alongside the Ethan Hawke horror film as well]. GAWD too many movies this weekend edit: Just came back from watching Argo. Absolutely fantastic movie. I've noticed with Ben Affleck films that his role, while usually the starring role, never steals the spotlight. Everybody else in the movie is absolutely fantastic and brilliant. I'm not criticizing Affleck as an actor, he's a brilliant director and his character does his role... there's just no oomph.
  19. Maritan what exactly didn't you like about the stealth mechanics? Or are you simply a bigger fan of hiding in crowds ala Hitman?
  20. Just in case someone hasn't seem them, these two videos of the last batch of Bad Lip Reading videos are absolutely great.
  21. Somebody did their job right. I find myself caring for Little Emily. Especially after I saw her drawing of Corvo.
  22. Finished the first mission post-jail. I gotta say I can see why people finish this game so quickly. If it wasn't for the fact I'm sneaking around everywhere, reloading if somebody sees me and doing everything non-lethally this game wouldn't last me too long.
