P4: Gritty Reboot

I don't mind if people want to ask for gift cards. I will be making a thread where you can ask more specifically than Steam wishlists allow. Also, be aware of any regional restrictions before you purchase. I don't think Steam is usually an issue in that regard though. Wishlist post is up. Post your "wants" to your Santa (who will be assigned in 2 days). The current plan is to post a final announcement on the 30th and cut off all sign-ups after the end of November. I will then assign targets and create a new thread specifically for each participant to post a more thorough wishlist should they choose (reasons for wanting the specific games, genres you like generally, etc.).

For me, I love cooperative reviving or healing mechanics, whether they're implemented in team-based competitive games such as TF2 or co-ops. Something about sacrificing one's own safety or supplies to help another player really does it for me in these games. I still remember in Battlefield 2 when a machine gun nest was tearing apart one of my team's squads and I had to rush across the field and dive to their position in order to revive one of them. I also love a good platforming puzzle. It feels so directed (in other words, there's often only one intended solution), yet when you're trying to figure out how to use the game's physics and momentum to get to the goal, it has the illusion of free choice that keeps me interested.

Awesome. We are at 18 people so far, already a better turnout than last year (I think it was 11 or so then...). I will re-post the signup sheet again before the end of November and we'll shut them off shortly after that.

Alright, we've well passed the magic "10" threshold for people participating. I will put a sign-up form at the beginning of December and they will be open for 2 weeks or so. Once the Steam Winter sale starts, you can gift at any time.

I usually go later in the day for the DVDs. Got a bunch of Seinfeld seasons last year for $7/pop.

Alright, once I make an official sign-up form and the deadline for sign-ups passes, we'll send the whole list to everybody with Steam names and what not so we're all nice friends.

That's classic, Atom. I would vote libertarian, but Gary Johnson is kind of a kook, and I disagree with him on several key issues. I would at least liked to have had my say on the local and state stuff.

They "project" winners after a certain % of precincts report in a given state. It is usually fairly accurate, but for swing states when it comes down to the wire, it gets projected wrong sometimes. I don't think there are any big upsets so far. http://www.google.com/elections/ed/us/results
