P4: Gritty Reboot

Guess I should post here too. Bought meself AC3 and Arkham City for the Wii U, and Lego Movie Game off Steam for my minions. Still looking for Bioshock Infinite to go on sale. And a big thanks to Metal Caveman for Shadowrun Returns!

Yeah what's up with all the baby characters!

Mario Kart 8 is just amazing. I was never a big Mario Kart fan, always enjoyed Diddy Kong Racing the most but have not really gotten into kart racers very much. I had the Wii one and the GCN one but eh, they were not that exciting for me. I liked the DS one alright. But wow, the way the karts feel, the online play, the gliders, everything is done really well. It looks great and runs smoothly. I didn't really expect to have it be my favorite game out of the gate. I picked up Wind Waker (for freeeee!), Arkham City, Mario & Luigi U (included) and Assassin's Creed III. MK8 is far and away the best of the lot.

Discworld is great! I played Vimes and managed to win. Vimes has to concentrate on setting everyone against each other so no one reaches a victory condition, plus obviously playing as many cards as possible.

Game 2 ended with an Allied victory. Tenshi held out for a ridiculously long time before we were able to mobilize and sack Japan. Well played everyone.

Are any other forum members looking to join? Happy to give up my seat if someone else wants to get in on the fun. I would vote for another Axis & Allies round since a lot of us were confused by the interface for the first half of the game (except the Fuhrer it would seem...). Would we want to take the same factions or new sides?

Once everyone has had time to recover, we can open up discussion of another game to play. Rematch, different players, different game: whatever.

The Japanese empire continues to crumble... save me, Fuhrer...

I have been slacking on the AARs because we have been playing much more quickly than I had anticipated. In any case, Fuhrer GOH took over all of Africa and threatened Moscow, but could not quite put it away. Emperor P4 pushed the Axis' economy over the required NPL level to win by conquering eastern Russia, China, and... Western Canada. But I was stretched so thin that a couple easy attacks from President Ethan's growing Navy at the end of the round prevented us from winning. I think the sun may be setting on the Japanese Empire if we can't pull off a quick win soon. Current game state:

End of turn 1: USSR moved some units around, foregoing a rush into Germany to reinforce England's navy. Germany steamrolled through Africa, claiming some UK territories. UK went for small naval skirmishes off the coast of Africa, taking out a German unit. Also claimed neutral Saudi Arabia. Japan went all-out on Hawaii and China, but did not fully occupy either one. USA reinforced its fleet at Pearl Harbor and strengthened western defenses.

If you research heavy bombers they attack 3 times, hitting at a die roll of 4 or less.

Yes, everyone take your time. No rush. It will speed up as you get the interface down. Before you buy units, check where you'll be able to place them and what numbers they hit on on offense and defense--important depending on what you are buying them for. Both teams consult early on and use the team chat log or email each other when needed.
