  1. Apparently PBS is shortening the Sherlock broadcasts by 8 minutes per episode. -_____-

Yeah it's BBC so it doesn't have any adverts in it.

I could swear PBS didn't have ads either but they must have a nominal amount.

They have to cut to people telling you if you donate 250$ you'll get the special Sherlock DVD complete with a magnifying glass.

  2. I know MP1 was a disaster on PS2 as far as aiming. Both games were much better on PC.
  3. Wii was a $200 Wii Sports machine for many. Love that game though. Mmmm Wii Sports
  4. Thank you PBS for streaming Sherlock season 2. Amen.

I didn't know S2E1 had expanded so much on the material. That's actually pretty cool. I really need to read the other Sherlock stories. I also really need to watch The Wire, it seems.

Kenshi, wait until you get to S4. After S3 I was wondering where'd they go (you'll see), but S4 is a genius tale with various elements and characters so amazingly interwoven.

  5. The game has really piqued my interest after I had to write some video scripts for them and after grilling Johnny about it... It may be a while yet before I have the $120 to play co-op with my wife though, so there's that. I really like the concept of focusing on the application of your character build rather than optimizing an upgrade tree.
  6. Internally, the development focus for Blizzard shifts from develop---[goes gold]---> market ---[game ships]---> support. Obviously there's some overlap there, but I can't imagine its being anything but confusing for the customer and the game staff alike to have multiple ship dates, early activations, and the like. If a company wants to try it, great, but retail is certainly not the only consideration, self-published or no.
  7. In Diablo III's case, there probably were some retailer considerations. But it's not the whole picture and it never will be. Case in point: Legend of Grimrock went gold on March 23 but didn't come out until April 11, and there were no physical boxes to wait for. We can't point the finger squarely at some publisher/retailer conspiracy.
  8. I guess what I'm saying is, had Blizzard picked May 9 for the official date and had no retail release, you'd have had the "locked" copy on your hard drive a week or two before that anyway. Even though we always like to have things now, companies have every right to hold back a release until they're ready to deal with customer service, support, server load, etc. In this case, yes, they coordinated the date with a retail release, but that is likely not the only factor.
  9. I get that part of it, but I'm saying that Blizzard, at some point, had to pick an official release date for advertising purposes, for business purposes, or just because they felt like it. May 15 was the day they picked, and they still would have picked a certain day (May 15 or some other time) some time after the game had gone gold. Having a pre-loaded locked copy doesn't mean that they're being held back by retail necessarily, but just by the official green light at Blizzard's discretion.
  10. I guess I don't get the "controversy". Even if it was a digital-only release, they could still have picked May 15 as the official release date for business purposes or what have you, and you'd still have to wait. The pre-loading and unlocking process isn't necessarily dependent on retail release dates.
  11. What happened with Diablo III? Must have been out of the loop.
  12. Finally updated my BIOS so Portal 2 will run! Now to get killed by all you fine people in your deadly maps.

  13. I'll be in an L4D2 game for the next 2 or so hours with a free slot.

  14. Err-yeah, 3D parental controls... totally knew about those.
  15. Yeah, you should! Season 2's latest few episodes were fantastic.
  16. BB definitely gets better every time. Maybe I'll do TDK this weekend or something to see if it gets worse
  17. I like the 3D. If I'm able to sit at the correct angle, I turn it on and don't like having it off. However, a few games seem to "ghost" the 3D images more than others, and that can be annoying. Somewhat interestingly, I always turn off the 3D before my 4-year-old plays, but he invariably turns it back on as he tells me he doesn't like when it's "flat". So yeah, it's just visual flair/a gimmick if you prefer, but it's a neat one.
  18. Something similar may have ruined The Dark Knight for me. I just saw it about a year ago for the first time, and after hearing how it was the greatest superhero movie of all time for years, it simply didn't live up to the hype. I didn't like Batman Begins on first viewing either though, so I may need to watch it again with a different mindset.
  19. Heh, it was just about a month or two ago that we finally beat the last Veteran mission on co-op. The accursed one in the snow with one player in the AC-130 Gunship and the other on the ground... holy moly it was ridiculous. Anyway here's a little vid I did the script for on some of the stuff we know from the BO2 trailer:
  20. I haven't seen the movie yet, but isn't that all that the posters/trailers/advertising led us to believe it would be? I don't know that anyone was expecting more.
