  1. I am struggling to think of any 2013 game I have played for any length of time. Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon was good. Dishonored and X-Com are the only recent games I've spent more than a couple hours with this year, and both were very fine games.
  2. The 2005 one is in print and readily available for under $50 on Amazon and eBay.
  3. A very kind Christmas present from my parents this year was the original 1987 printing of Arkham Horror, a Call of Cthulhu board game. The game was reprinted in 2005 with a massive board, hundreds of cards and tokens, and really it was just a big, bloated mess in my book. So I was happy to rediscover the original, and I really think the old-school art is much more attractive and the play is more streamlined. Solo 2005 AH took me nearly 3 hours, not to mention 15-20 minutes of setup and teardown, while this one has taken about 5 minutes to get going and under an hour to play (and lose).
  4. Big thanks to Hot Heart for Costume Quest, which my kids are devouring at an alarming rate.
  5. If anyone hasn't gotten their gift in a week or so, shoot me a PM (not that we have a hard deadline, but it does seem as if most people have decided to gift relatively early). Sounds like it has gone smoothly for the most part. Another fun exchange this year everyone.
  6. Discworld: Ankh-Morpork or a different one?
  7. Let me know if you need help resolving the issue.
  8. Wife and I have put 300 hours into the series together, easily. Great for couples.
  9. That's pretty much THE selling point that gets me to buy most games nowadays.
  10. A massive thank you to Mercurial for the excellent gift of Lego Lord of the Rings. My kids are going to explode with happiness.
  11. Who on earth is buying all these Steam trading cards? Insane.

  12. It can help to specify if you arbitrarily give someone something that you are or are not their Santa.
  13. Thanks for CHAINSAW WARRIOR, Vecha. Stop buying me things Vecha. You can't be Santa to everybody Vecha!!!
  14. He was not part of the exchange (unless I royally screwed something up), but a big thanks to MetalCaveman for Dishonored.
  15. Yeah yeah it'll probably go on flash sale for like 50 cents or something. Oh well. $16ish for 2 copies is much better than the $300 the physical game goes for, and this one is pretty rad.
  16. I was wondering if that had happened to anyone. I don't have a good way of ensuring it doesn't happen, except by manually checking each one. If I knew a lick of programming I could do it I am sure (or maybe even a tricked out Excel spreadsheet would work). I know you're not complaining but it is something that had crossed my mind. Good gifting for the second year Yesshua!
  17. Steam Winter Sale is rumored to start later this week, which would coincide with previous sales. Get your generous hearts and wallets ready!
  18. Not sure what happened, Chewie, but you're not on the Google Doc. I will get you in. OK, I have sent Chewie a target. Everyone please add him on Steam if you have not: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Chewblaha
  19. Chewie, notsureifserious and all that but let me know if you want in, I can probably figure out a way to squeeze you into the chain of love.
  20. Ha, so last year I did that in the messages and decided it took me way too much time. I'm glad someone is less lazy than I.
  21. Secret Santa targets are assigned, so check your inbox! Let me know if you have any problems or didn't get a PM.

  22. Alrighty, sign-ups are winding down and we're at 23 participants! Awesome turnout, really excited for this year. This thread is not for general discussion of the exchange. Each participant who has signed up for SS2013 should post one time in this thread letting their Santa know what kind of games they like, whether they prefer Steam or another service or digital gift, that sort of thing. Do not post again if you think of more; edit your original post. The more detail you give, the more likely you are to receive something you want. That said, your own style is fine--you could just do a short list of a few things you've been eyeing or else you could be as detailed as you want. This is not a replacement for Steam wishlists--use those as well. This thread is to give a little more background about your wants and why you may want them. My Wishlist post will be right here in the top post to give you an idea of what we're looking for. Including a link to your Steam account and wishlist would be a good idea as well. Here is a template to get you started: Steam ID/Wishlist/Country (in case of regional restrictions) Background General criteria What are your favorite genres? What are your favorite games? Are you looking for any non-Steam gifts? --- P4's Christmas Wishlist Steam ID: P4warrior Wishlist Country: USA! Hoorah! Last year I mentioned starting to move away from digital games toward tabletop games, and that trend has continued. However I still enjoy vegging out once in a while with a good video game. The only new games that really captured my attention for more than a few hours this year were X-Com and Serious Sam 3. Ideally I'm looking for games that I can jump into and out of without much fuss, or possibly some kid-friendly games I can enjoy with my 3- and 5-year-old boys. Favorite genres are shooters and various other stuff like RPGs and indie games. Favorite games evar are the Half-Life and Portal series, Chrono Trigger, SWKOTOR, and more.
  23. Please add everybody now listed in the header to your Steam friends list. I am sending out targets now.
