I had free passes from a friend so I didn't pay. Dumb & Dumber is probably my favorite comedy ever and it has a 39 on Metacritic. I was expecting Sucker Punch to be terrible based on the advertising (my wife really wanted to see it) but I was pleasantly surprised.

Saw Limitless and Sucker Punch this weekend. The latter was pretty good.

You can often best see the character of a person by how he affects the world around him, and there is plenty evidence that Gordon measures up. I love playing through the Half-Life series and watching the legend around him grow bigger and bigger, hearing the rebels whisper to each other, "Hey, that's Gordon Freeman!" and the Vortigaunts singing his praises. Freeman has more character than many generic protagonists do, despite his never saying a word. Also, there's this:

Probably either Gordon Freeman or Frog from Chrono Trigger

Really!? Neat, thanks! I'm not sure how it works either, I'll figure it out and let you know. In the meanwhile, is there anything you'd like in return? I don't have much, but I could find somethin' in specific. I will connect tonight and try to figure it out. I have Black so if you have White, then any of the White exclusives - > http://www.serebii.net/blackwhite/exclusives.shtml#white If you have Black, then I don't care, just give me any crap. I'm not using Audino. EDIT: Ok so go into your bag, then choose Pal Pad and register my friend code. Post yours here so I can do the same. 3696-9455-8429 (anyone else can add me too and post more codes!) Advent, let's work out any more details in private messages so we don't clog the thread.

Kotaku, along with most of the Gawker network, is essentially a tabloid at this point, so it doesn't surprise me.
-
I'll give you an Audino. I've never traded online before though so you'll have to tell me how it works.

All the Half-Life games, the opening cinematic to Left 4 Dead, Goldeneye for the Wii...

I can hear the main menu jingle in my head now... I do wish they had more varied music for the different towns, as a lot of them are the same.

Games that you hate that everyone else seems to like

The first ones graphics were so bad that I could never play them for more than 5 minutes but I just bought IX on a whim and I'm actually quite enjoying it. It's got an original story so far and it's actually got a fantastic soundtrack. I've got to second this - I've never played DQ before, but IX is great. The main story, as well as all the side stories, are original and usually pretty touching. -
I usually turned the blood off as a kid, though Half-Life's skulls and chicken bones that flew out of deceased humans cracked me up. Now, as long as it's done tastefully or it's just obviously over-the-top, I can enjoy it.

Things gamers do/say that piss you off

As far as the JRPG argument goes, I haven't really enjoyed many JRPG's, but holy molasses Chrono Trigger and Dragon Quest IX (not to mention Pokemon) are both amazing. CT and DQIX address pretty much every complaint I've heard about the genre - both have brilliant stories, touching side quests, compelling combat (CT moreso), interesting characters, and immersive settings. --- Things that bug me - -When console gamers bash the PC ignorantly. Or just ignoring the existence of the PC in general. -Wii-bashing -Heck, any console-bashing. It's just stupid and a waste of time. -Pirates bug me. Not the rational, need-to-demo-a-game pirates, but the people who comment on articles and just say "People still buy games/music/movies LOL?!?" And then proceed to complain about the game or developer when they're not even paying for their games... When my wife and I play Left 4 Dead online, it's hilarious how many guys go out of their way to baby her, even though she is usually better than them. -
I am enjoying this Pokemon game a lot. My team is - Dewott - Lv. 20 Munna - Lv. 20 Pidove - Lv. 17 Roggenrola - Lv. 13 Blitzle - Lv. 15 Timburr - Lv. 13 I am going to get rid of either Roggenrola or Timburr, can't decide which. I have been over-leveling Dewott and Munna because they're both ridiculously good and are hard to not use... I'm in Pinwheel Forest after beating the second gym leader, Aunt Jemima.

Pokemon Black, Dragon Quest IX -
I just started playing, I'm using Oshawott almost solo at level 15. I used the fire monkey they gave me to beat the first gym leader though. Can't wait to find some actually good Pokemon...
-
I'm thinking of starting with Oshawott as well, since the final form is the most appealing to me. That, and I've only ever started with Bulbasaur and Chimchar and would like to try the water type.

Half-Life (Series) - Yeah, it's cheating to put "series" on here, but I can't think of many franchises in which every game is excellent and builds off the last one. I have played through the entire saga (less Episode 3 of course!) back-to-back multiple times, so I pretty much consider it one game. Brilliant, immersive, compelling, excellent game and story. Metroid Prime - The first and in some ways only FPS on consoles that I can truly just sit back and enjoy. Totally gorgeous game world, awesome exploration, inventive bosses, just a great game overall. LoZ: Ocarina of Time - What can I say that hasn't been said? This game immersed me in its world and never let go. Diddy Kong Racing - An off-the-wall pick, but this game is still the best kart racer out there. This was the only game I had on my N64 for the first year I owned the system, so I memorized every track, banana, balloon, and silver coin location. I just replayed this a couple months back, and it holds up. Chrono Trigger - I just finished this game about a week ago for the first time, and it's already changed my perspective on what a good game should be. Branching storylines, an open world (eventually), likable characters, truly gripping stories, enjoyable combat, great graphics - this game basically addressed every complaint I have about the JRPG genre. Myst - I played this game years after it came out, but its world really grabbed me. I played all the sequels except V, and the games continued to be compelling even after the genre all but died. The sense of loneliness, the creative (if sometimes illogical) puzzles, I just loved the spooky feel of exploring abandoned worlds. C&C: Red Alert 2 - When I was growing up, if I got in trouble, my parents wouldn't ground me, they would simply ban me from playing Red Alert 2 for a while. I would straighten up right away, of course. This was the first RTS I really sunk my teeth into, in spite of playing Age of Empires and some others before it. I loved the humor in this game, and though I sucked at it horribly, skirmishes were a blast. Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast - Story, gameplay, Force powers, lightsaber duels, this was the embodiment of all my childhood Jedi fantasies. We played the crap out of the multiplayer aspect, but it was the singeplayer that will stick with me forever. I recently replayed this one, and it does hold up (it's much better than Force Unleashed, by the way.) Counter-Strike (1.5) - This was the reigning champ at all my LAN parties growing up. Though we'd try other games, eventually the night always ended in CS. I was good in our group of friends, but I got killed online most of the time. I love the balance, the skill required, the unforgiving damage modelling. Just a really fun game overall.
