I've read something about Cyberpunk 2077 "staying in the shadows" for now, which could mean anything. I too hope that's going to be their main focus now, this game looks promising as fuck, especially if it's coming from these guys.
-
I've missed all previews for Inquisition so I didn't know about that too. I'm playing it right now, by the way. So far I only found one stronghold in Crestwood - does that mean there was supposed to be more of them? Like one per each area or something? I will definately get Witcher 3 too, since I'm a fan of both books and games, and like I said, I care little about how it will look in the end. CDPR is one of those companies that tries to be fair and square, so I didn't mean to attack them or anything. I guess the whole discussion vaguely related to the general phenomenon of inaccurate pre-release trailers.
-
Right, how did I missed that. My bad. I know what you mean and I also think that people go way too ballistic sometimes, but because there was clear evidence circling around the web that the game didn't live up to it's advertising I wanted to ask someone who already played it. Especially since I'm not going to be able to do that anytime soon.
-
Because movies and video games are two different things and following this logic the game should actually look better than two years ago because technology gets better, not worse. Nowhere in the 2013 E3 trailer nor in the pre-release trailer (both advertised as "gameplay") was it stated that contents may differ from the final game. Besides, I asked a simple question and nobody except Tenshi was kind enough to give me a straight answer without getting all defensive - does the game look worse than in the trailers?
-
You can call it false advertising, which is a valid reason to fret over. Granted, this is nothing like the infamous Killzone 2/Call of Duty 2 trailers (I guess you were talking about those?), but still there's an advertised game and then there's an inferior product. That's why I hate so called gameplay trailers nowadays because most of them are misleading, doctored, and directed. I like when people moan about these things because line has to be drawn somewhere. Unfortunately some just like to ignore stuff like that. I mean, fast food joints were doing it for years, yet I don't see folks complain when burger on the poster looks nothing like the trumpled pile of wank you get on a plate.

http://whatifgaming.com/developer-insider-the-witcher-3-was-downgraded-from-2013-list-of-all-features-taken-out-why There, found the original statement I was talking about. More interviews followed in which lead director confirmed that the company will continue working on patches and fixes, eventually bringing the game's visuals to the original vision, so whatever, I guess. I was curious if the difference was actually that big or someone was just trolling with delibaretly bad screenshots, because some of them were nicpicky, but then there was that: http://gamegpu.ru/images/2015/%D0%9C%D0%B0%D0%B9/admvLGj.jpg

From what I've read that's not the case, actually. There was a fair bit of moaning about it (I even saw some comparing screenshots that showed pretty significant difference between what was shown in the trailers and what's in the actual game) so CDPR released a statement saying that they delibaretly reduced the quality of graphics, because of the console platofrms. Apparently the development cycle started way before either XBONE or PS4 were out, which means that programmers couldn't predict what these platforms would be capable of. Now it turns out consoles don't have enough horsepower to make Witcher 3 look so fabulous as in the trailers, so they reduced the overall quality across all three platforms in order to make the game look the same for everyone. That makes my piss boil for a number of reasons. Now, I would be first to say that I don't care wether the graphics are good or slightly better, because that hardly matters if the game is still great. However, I do hate when game publishers lie about the quality of the product, teasing us with better looking graphics and then giving us something inferior.

I'm just sitting here, reading, getting hyped like a mofo... Though the only thing I've been hearing about TW3 so far is the graphics downgrade when compared to so-called gamepllay trailers. Is that true? Another Watch Dogs bullshit marketing scam?

What, you mean you didn't know that regular camping trips can get you a decent warship? I have four of them already!

I'm with you on that. Probably gonna repeat a lot of things you've said. I think it's a solid mashup of Assassin's Creed/Batman Arkham Whatever games with bonus points for being set in LOTR universe, but in the end I got about halfway through before putting it away forever. That was the point when Nemesis system, got old and became more of an annoyance. Pausing mid-combo only to focus on yet another dude taunting me with same repeated insult over and over is just flow breaking and stupid. One particularly dumb occurence was when I got in a really large fight with something like 30 or 40 dudes and there were 4 different captains among them and they simply took turns, like they were standing in a lunch line or something. The story was also so good that I can't even remember what it was about. Something about Sauron, no doubt. And that one ring. In short - solid game but nowhere near as good as the hype would suggest.

Yeah, fully equipped for exploration, I'm hoping to earn enough cash to buy a decent combat vessel once I get back. Then I will kick some ass. So far I was avoiding dogfights since most other pilots could decimate me with nothing more than a sneeze and trading is just not my cup of tea. Exploration is the way for me. Besides, I just HAVE TO see that supermassive black hole up close. Maybe I will be able to enter tesseract and tell my past-self to do some fucking work instead of playing video games...

So, 40 hours and couple of unexpected events later, I got my grubby hands on a brand new Cobra and some upgrades. Now I just have to earn a couple of thousand credits for Detailed Surface Scanner, in order to get most cash out of my extended pilgrimage to Sagittarius A*, and I'll be ready to go online and get Pickard on this shit. Though from what I saw it may get tedious fast. I've already stuck my nose beyond occupied space once, only to find out that beyond the small pill of space around SOL, there's nothing but big, empty, lonely void out there, and the distance I covered in 4 hours was nothing compared to the whole trip that I'm planning. Maybe there's a chance that I will encounter other pilots on my way there while online.

Well, I still like DA2, for it has some redeeming qualities, but the game is spread way too thin to be entertaining all the way through. Not to mention the ongoing theme of nauseating repetition. Also, I still hate the combat system in Origins, though this time around I decided to be more advanced and used clever tactics. Such as: lure dudes away from larger mob. Or: "use the motherfucking mana potion when you're low on mana, Morrigan". Made things a little less annoying.

You do realise he looks like a bum on this picture?

Take your pills dude, that's not what I was saying. Thank you. Each component has a major part in overall performance, actually. Even the motherboard or HDD. The point is - if overclocking means getting a significant boost to your performance, then it's worth it. If not, then why bother, unless it's your hobby or something.
-
Oh, sure. Which is why I could play 99.9% of my games on higher settings and with smoother framerates when I switched from dual core to quad core cpu, while my graphics card remained the same.

In between my Elite Dangerous sessions I'm trying to finish Dragon Age 1&2 because I finally got my hands on Inquisition. Really bad timing for that, by the way, with Witcher 3 on the way and all that. God I wish I could go back to grammar school and have as much free time as I had then... So anyway, I think this is another case when my previous feelings about a game inexplicably changed 180 degrees over the years. First time around I couldn't stand Origins and liked DA2 more, while now I feel like the secong game is an incredibly shallow experience compared to the epic storyline and sheer depth of gameplay in Origins.
-
Fist time I finished Witcher 1, well, it was a chore. The game is unbearably long and quests often can be a bit iffy on telling you what to do next, so yeah, it's understandable why you couldn't get into it. However, fast forward to January this year, when I decided to start the series all over, and this time around I was hooked right from the start. Right from the opening action sequence I felt like I'm playing a really good RPG, on par with anything bioware has ever made. The characters, atmosphere, dialogue, lore - everything top notch. Also, the voice acting, but I was playing it in the original polish, which sounds much more folksy and natural. The english dub is terrible in my opinion and it does a big disservice to the lore. Instead of coming up with something unique, they used the most generic Lord of The Rings-type fantasy stereotypes possible (like scottish dwarves, for example). Dunno what brough on this change for me the second time around, but it was definately a time well spent. My only advice is that you need to slowly embrace its atmosphere and give it proper time and patience, because like I said, it's a really long and complex game, but a very rewarding experience in the end. Maybe reading the books might help in immersion, but that would be too much commitment to ask for if you just want to play the damn games. Witcher 2 is much more accessible and beefed up on bigger budget, but it also can be a pain in the ass sometimes, especially when it comes to convoluted quests. Yet the reason why I love it so much is that, at one point, the storyline can branch in two vastly different directions (depending on your choices), complete with different set of quests, charaters and locations to visit. The scale at which this was done is something that you can rarely see in role playing game, so I strongly recommend replaying it at some point.

I guess they should call it "QWOP mod".

Thought police strikes again... Picture won't load up for me for some reason. Okay, if we're splitting hairs, then lo and behold - impromptu civics lesson about Poland. Gminas are actually divided into three types - urban gmina (single town or large city, eg. Warsaw), urban-rural gmina (town with surrounding villages), and rural gmina (collection of villages). It's an administrative division (lowest one), so naturally it has it's own borders and local administrative body. So in a way it's like a county, because like you said - it encompasses the whole area (not only towns/villages) but it's much smaller. You could also call it a district, because the next level of administrative division in Poland is powiat, which encompasses a much wider area and uses similar rules - that would be a proper equivalent of county.
-
I vote in favor!

OCing is unnecessary bullshit that people only do so their numbers can be higher than someone else's on a message board. That depends. If you're like one of those guys, who overclocks fucking everything to the point when computer starts crashing, just to get one or two frames more, or score a couple of points higher in latest 3D benchmark, then yes, it's bullshit and you're only slaughtering hardware. However, if cranking up the CPU means significantly higher clock speeds, then by all means, you can do that. I remember OC'ing my old dual core CPU from 2.5GHz to 3.0GHz and maybe 0.5 gigs don't sound too impressive on paper, but it made a whole world of difference when it comes to higher framerates in games. And I've known people who OC'ed their CPU even by whole damn gigahertz, but for that you need a good motherboard and beefy cooling system.
-
I still dread replacing stock cooling system on GPU card more than anything else wheen it comes to fiddling around with computer insides. At least CPU has some shielding, while GPU core is butt naked - very easy to chip away the sillicone. Anyway, that's some pretty decent cooler, you could try OC now. What kind of case do you have?

I once ate pizza with pineapples. Wasn't half bad after a slice, but in larger quantities it would just make me queasy. Sweet things on salty, greasy pizza is generally a bad idea in my book.
-
I guess that would be a proper equivalent. "Commune" literally means "gmina", which is a word that probably has it's roots in former communist governemnt. In any case, like you said - it's a collection of towns and villages in the surrounding area (sometimes the town alone). The more you know...
