  1. Well, looking at my last post in this thread sure is depressing. Haven't finished that drawing in almost lol, in fact, haven't been drawing much, bunch of things happened that kinda took the wind out of my sail, and then when I tried to get back into it I got stuck in this loop of wanting to get better at drawing and wanting to practice, but not wanting to draw anything because I hate how the stuff I draw looks. Sure been a fun year in that regard.
  2. Death Stranding This is gorgeous! What? Wait what?! WHAT?! The fuck was that?! WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?! DUDE! THAT'S Kinda sad I didn't get to
  3. Nope Didn't know whether to post this here or in the OK movies thread. Decided that in spite of the issues I had, it was actually a pretty good film I wouldn't mind watching again. I liked it, it does something fun with the genre, it was neat when The was awesome. \m/ \m/ Overall it was a really cool movie, though I wouldn't call it horror, since nothing about it was really scary or anything like that, there's some blood and gore but nothing that I would consider horror, something to consider if you're going in expecting a sci-fi horror movie, you might be a bit disappointed. Though I'm not a big horror guy so probably not the best judge when it comes to this stuff. The thing that drags it down a bit Without those scenes or if they were shorter it'd be a GOOD movie. Also, someone said that it's and now I can't stop thinking about it.
  4. Been playing some demos: Soulstice Devs went all "What if we made a game that had cool graphics, cool combat and a fun and useful companion... and then we gave it the worst camera system of all time!" Thus we end up with this, it uses that not-quite-fixed camera that follows you a bit before you move to the next area and it moves to its next fixed point, resulting in: Getting hit from enemies that you can't see. Camera freaking out when moving back and forth between certain areas. Geometry blocking your view when walking through narrow paths. And some other fun issues that make this game kind of frustrating to play, shame really, the rest of it seems fun enough, if they fix the camera issues I might get it. Anger Foot This one was fun, I was worried it'd be one of those games were enemies die in one hit but you do too, thankfully you can actually take a couple of hits before dying. You kick stuff, yeah, there's guns and other stuff, but the main combat is kicking stuff, there's even different shoes that give different buffs and abilities, neat. Frontier Hunter Well, this one I didn't play, downloaded the demo a while ago, tried to play today and... No more demo, you can only buy it, turns out the demo was time limited, so that's a thing. Metal: Hellsinger Absolutely love the concept, awesome soundtrack, cool gameplay, love everything about it and yet... It's not for me, the rhythm game aspect of it is a cool gimmick and something to set it apart, love how the music is tied to it and how things really kick off when you reach a certain combo, but it also made me keep my eyes glued to the rhythm bar instead of looking around and keeping track of enemies and the environment. Wish there was a way to increase the volume of it, or have a different visual cue. Still, love everything about it, it's not the game, it's me. Edit: Way easier to get the rhythm right with headphones! \m/ \m/ EXCELLENT.
  5. Aperture Desk Job 10/10. Yeah, it's basically just a showcase/tutorial of the Steam Deck, but even if you don't have one, it's worth playing for the humour and writing.
  6. Prison Princess Normally not a fan of puzzle games like this one, but add some anime fanservice and I'm in. Puzzle difficulty seemed fine to me, most of them are fairly simple, others do require some attention, and there's a couple that do require that you remember/take note of stuff that you found in other rooms. There was only one that gave me a fair bit of trouble and I did end up looking up a guide on how to solve it. Overall though, I enjoyed the challenge, though more puzzle-oriented people might find it a bit too easy though. It's certainly nowhere near The Room or Please Don't Touch Anything in terms of complexity. The story was fun, the Demon King has been rampaging, the Hero, accompanied by the Sage sets out to defeat said Demon King... and dies before being able to do anything. That's when the game actually starts, two princesses, Aria from the Kingdom of Aria Zaza and Zena from Zanji Zed are kidnapped by the Demon King and sent to a castle as prisoners. There, the Hero (well, his spirit) appears, refusing to die and determined to save the princesses. Much like Duel Princess however, as serious and dramatic as the story sounds, most of it is played for laughs, from the Hero's inability to interact with anything, being able to only point the princesses towards items or help with certain puzzles, to the fact that the princesses could have escaped their cells on their own, as it turns out, Aria can just casually use extremely powerful spells, and Zena can just Hulk SMASH whatever gets in her way. The endings is where things get more serious, in two of them at least, and when things get interesting, given that, as a prequel to Duel Princess, the True and Bad(ish) endings are actually switched. The game has five endings and I did manage to get them all, though it was done via the ancient power of just reload an old save. Most of them are fairly easy to get, though I did use a guide for two of them as these require that you solve certain puzzles in order and there's a couple of puzzles you're supposed to fail the first time around too. The endings in question: Then there's the normal ending, easily obtained by playing normally, unless you're the kind of person that explores and inspects EVERYTHING, then you may actually end up with either the True of the Bad endings. Then there's the True and Bad(ish) endings, the only difference between this is a choice you make after the last puzzle, and this was interesting after playing Duel Princess as the story in that game sort of causes these two to be switched. TL;DR: A fun puzzle game with a healthy dose of fanservice. 100/10. Liked it enough to get all achievements. \m/ \m/
  7. The Future You've Been Dreaming Of This is a game, that exists, it was made, part of Qureate's expansion into other genres, the main character and her struggles are fairly relatable. That's about as positive as I can be. The story: Sachi Usui is a college student struggling with, well, everything, studying, trying to find a job, losing her apartment, friends who all seem to be living way more successful lives, etc. That's when she finds a cheap apartment that's inhabited by a zashiki-warashi, a friendly spirit who is tasked by their mentor to watch over Sachi and hopefully guide her to a bright future. The game: You play as the friendly spirit, by looking around the apartment, you can point Sachi towards certain activities that will either raise or lower her stats, for example, cleaning the room raises the Living Environment and Self-esteem stats, reading manga raises Self-esteem but lowers Knowledge, etc. These stats affect the ending you get, kinda, on top of needing the right stats at the right level, you also need to collect notes which are scattered throughout the apartment, for each ending, you need the right stat levels and all notes specific to that ending, otherwise you get the default ending. Where it all burns down: Basically, everything. The controls are weird, for a game where you're essentially just moving a camera around, camera movement and speed feel awkward as hell, tweaking some settings helps but it still feels like it takes forever to start turning. Looking at an interactive item on the room is supposed to "glue" the camera to it so they're easier to identify, but this sometimes won't work unless you're really close to it while other times it will work on something that's on the other side of the room. Some animations are wonky, and in some cases this can lead to nightmarish results. Each chapter consists of a day, during which you guide Sachi to different activities, the issue is that you're limited by time, you get about 5 minutes per chapter, this time limit is made worse by how much time each activity takes, specially as there's a TON of wasted time on certain animations. You can queue activities, but this doesn't help much. Each day becomes a race against time, and against the game itself, which seems focused on wasting as much time as possible. Some examples of this waste of time: Selecting study, Sachi walks towards her desk, stands still for a moment, walks closer to the desk, sits down, grabs a book, studies for a couple of seconds, puts the book away, stands up, walks away from desk, stands there for a while before moving to the next activity. This leads to some extremely frustrating moments when queuing activities that take place in the same area, studying, eating candy and browsing the web all use the desk, yet if you try to queue these three, Sachi will repeat the stand up, walk away from desk, stand there for a while, walk towards desk, sit down, animation sequence for EACH OF THESE TASKS. The "instant action" option in the settings doesn't seem to do anything in regards to this issue, in fact, it doesn't seem to do anything at all. As I said before, to get each ending you not only need to have the required stats, but also notes for that specific ending, these notes are scattered across the room and you can't pick them directly, you have to guide Sachi towards each of them, so that's another thing you have to manage. Got the stats right but missed a note? Fuck you! Ran out of time before getting the last note you needed? Fuck you! As you get different endings you unlock items which allow you to increase or decrease each stat by a fixed amount, this eventually leads to the game just being: Get note, use item, get note, use item, repeat as necessary, however, to get to this point you do need to have gotten a bunch of different endings. Of the 20 endings, I only got 2, the default one and the next easiest one, and I've no desire to even try and get the others lol. TL;DR: Shout-out to Qureate for trying to explore other genres, and the main character is fairly relatable, everything else is a solid -1/10 though. I had originally prepared some harsher words, but I ended up leaving the tab open without actually posting this review and when I came back to it I had chilled a bit lol.
  8. New WarCry!!! First in 5 years after going on a brief hiatus, pretty good! \m/ \m/
  9. Prey Holy cow, this is how you do a Predator movie! Small scale, the Predator being a hunter not an invading force or whatever, hunting a group of people who although fairly skilled and competent in their own right, are going against something far stronger, agile and with technology that far surpasses them This Predator looks cool, the scene with was badass. \m/ \m/ I was also happy that the Would have been lame otherwise. My biggest issue is the CGI, in some early scenes with some animals it looks weird, and there's some scenes where the Predator itself looks kinda off, OG Predator still best Predator IMO. Also, some people might not like that it retcons an old comic, I thought it was neat. Overall, for me, the best Predator movie in a long time, I read that there are plans for more historical themed sequels if this one does well, after watching this one, I'm kinda looking forward to those, assuming they stick to the formula and just change the setting and tweak the weapons/tools the Predator has. It's available via Star Plus in Latin America, Hulu in the US and... Wherever Fox stuff goes in other regions.
  10. Amaury Guichon - Chocolatier and pastry chef, dude makes some insane things with chocolate.
  11. The Machinery game engine is toast, and it went in one of the most spectacular ways possible, they announced that all licenses would be terminated and amended the EULA to state: https://ourmachinery.com/ Being that this was a pay engine that means that anyone who bought a license and had work done with it is now fucked. Be interesting to see what happens to schools who had licensed the engine as they had some offers for educators and students. In other news, the new tilemap editor in Godot 4 is pretty neat, still not as easy to use and feature complete as a dedicated tool like Tiled, but it's pretty darn close, specially with how easy it is to add and edit tile properties directly from the editor, can't wait for the full release (currently in Alpha). \m/ \m/ Oh, and I guess I never posted about it here, but UE5 is now available in full release, and it's quite a thing, the Lyra starter game they offer for free is quite good, new mannequins come with integrated IK from the start and look much better than the UE4 ones and there's a bunch of other tools and additions that range from very useful to somewhat situational but still good to have.
  12. @TheMightyEthan Kinda, if you've seen Senran Kagura Reflexions, I'd say it's at the same level, if you haven't then... Yeah maybe the cover is a good indicative of it's contents.
  13. Pre-ordered this back when it was still called "Massage Freaks" and was supposed to be released on Switch (og release date being August 4th), since then there's been some kerfuffles and the Switch version was cancelled and my pre-order got refunded. Then all of a sudden I get a notification from Steam that this was available now.
  14. Couple of days after a meeting between Biden and AMLO, Caro Quintero former leader of Guadalajara cartel and who supposedly was fighting for control of Sinaloa against the Sinaloa cartel, has been arrested by the Mexican Navy, given how long he's been on the run I'd imagine this was part of some deal or request made during the meeting. Specially since US officers claim he'll be extradited ASAP. https://elpais.com/mexico/2022-07-15/rafael-caro-quintero-capturado-el-jefe-historico-del-cartel-de-sinaloa.html Maybe related but a navy helicopter crashed, resulting in 14 marines dead, no one has confirmed whether it was in response to the arrest but I wouldn't rule that out.
  15. Mother board, GPU and monitor are all ASUS, RAM is Corsair, I know you're supposed to be able to get them to play nice through iCue, but it keeps getting stuck or not syncing properly whenever I try to set up stuff through it, gave up on it and now I just set up stuff through Armoury Crate and iCue separately lol. I need to take some time to properly figure out this stuff and set everything correctly, if I had RGB fans it'd be a higher priority, for now it can kinda wait. Mouse is Logitech and keyboard is HyperX and those are screwed, there's no way to get them to work with other stuff, they work well right now so no desire to get anything new, but I'll likely go Corsair next.
  16. I haven't been able to figure out how to sync the lighting on my setup, motherboard, gpu and monitor don't play nice with my RAM lol, so I just match the colours best as possible and leave it at that. If I could get everything to work I wouldn't mind switching to a corsair mouse and keyboard (whenever they're on sale), just to have everything nice and synced.
